Brits Abroad: Kane reaches 25-goal landmark as Bayern lose yet again

Harry Kane and Eric Dier each featured in some capacity at the weekend but neither could help Bayern avoid another defeat in the Bundesliga, which means they now sit eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. It wasn't a great week for British players on the continent in all honesty. Ruben Loftus-Cheek's AC Milan lost 4-2 at Monza, while Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens were each unable to help Borussia Dortmund to victory at Wolfsburg.

In the latest editon of Brits Abroad, we take a look at how the British players fared on the continent over the weekend.

Harry Kane - Bayern Munich

Harry Kane netted his 25th league goal of the season at the weekend but it was a gameweek of mixed emotions for the England captain. Indeed, Bayern Munich crashed to a 3-2 loss at Bochum as they inexplicably fell to a third successive competitive defeat to leave them eight points off league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Kane struck with one of seven shots in the game at Bochum as he returned a WhoScored rating of 7.22.

Eric Dier - Bayern Munich

Remaining in Germany, Eric Dier came on in the 79th-minute, during which he made one interception and one clearance. His introduction late on had no bearing on the final result.

Jordan Henderson - Ajax

It's not been a great start to life for Jordan Henderson at Ajax. Indeed, the experienced midfielder has now made four starts for the Dutch giants, and they have failed to win any of the four games he has featured in. On Sunday, Henderson played the full 90 as Ajax were held to a 0-0 draw by NEC Nijmegen but he still found a teammate with 91.4% of his 81 attempted passes and made two tackles, two interceptions and two clearances.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - AC Milan

AC Milan were shocked by Monza at the U-Power Stadium on Sunday night as the Rossoneri crashed to a 4-2 loss. Ruben Loftus-Cheek did all he could to help his side to a result having managed one shot, one key pass, one dribble and one tackle but it wasn't enough to extend AC Milan's unbeaten run to 10 matches.

Lewis Ferguson - Bologna

Lewis Ferguson put in a fairly subdued display as Bologna claimed an impressive three points at Lazio. The Scottish midfielder returned a WhoScored rating of 6.24 in the capital as he failed to complete a dribble and didn't make a key pass. Ferguson did make a tackle in the 2-1 win but it wasn't a standout display from the 24-year-old.

Josh Doig - Sassuolo

Sassuolo were crushed at Atalanta over the weekend, falling to a 3-0 loss. Even so, Josh Doig did all he could to help the Neroverdi as evidenced by a WhoScored rating of 6.74. The young full-back chipped in with one tackle, one interceptions and five clearances, one of which was off the line.

Jadon Sancho - Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw at Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon with Jadon Sancho struggling at the Volkswagen Arena. Sancho completed only two of his eight attempted dribbles, and made just one key pass before his 79th-minute withdrawal in a forgettable display.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens - Borussia Dortmund

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens replaced Sancho at Wolfsburg on Saturday but had little time to really influence the game itself. Even so, the 19-year-old made two key passes and fired off one shot to earn a WhoScored rating of 6.36.

Angel Gomes - Lille

Angel Gomes registered his fifth league assist of the season as Lille claimed a 3-0 win over Le Havre. Gomes provided for Jonathan David's second shortly before the break on Saturday evening, that coming from one of three key passes. The 23-year-old also found a teammate with 93% of his 43 attempted passes to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.67.

Jonjo Shelvey - Rizespor

Rizespor were beaten 3-1 at home by title contender Fenerbahce over the weekend though Jonjo Shelvey did all he could to help his side against the Super Lig powerhouse. Shelvey made seven accurate long balls to help stretch the play and chipped in with four clearances, three interceptions and two tackles.
