Brits Abroad: Abraham rescues Roma while Sancho shines despite Dortmund defeat


Tammy Abraham netted his first league goal of the season in Roma's late 2-2 draw at Napoli, while Harry Kane warmed up for Bayern's Champions League meeting with Real Madrid with a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt. 


Once again, Brits Abroad is on hand to run through the British players plying their trade around the world and assessing how they performed over the weekend. 


Ruben Loftus-Cheek - AC Milan 


As Juventus and AC Milan played out a dire 0-0 draw on Saturday evening, Ruben Loftus-Cheek struggled before his late withdrawal, returning a WhoScored rating of 6.74. While he made four tackles, the 28-year-old failed to create a chance or complete a dribble in the stalemate. 


Tammy Abraham - Roma 


Roma's saviour against Napoli on Sunday, Tammy Abraham came off the bench to rescue a point for Daniele De Rossi's side in Naples. Indeed, Abraham bagged a late equaliser with his only effort to land a WhoScored rating of 6.92. 


Josh Doig - Sassuolo 


Sassuolo took one step closer to relegation as they were trounced 5-1 at Fiorentina on Sunday night, though Josh Doig was involved in the away side's only goal. Doig provided the assist for Kristian Thorstvedt's 57th minute strike from one of three key passes. 


Harry Kane - Bayern Munich 


Harry Kane warmed up for Tuesday's Champions League welcome of Real Madrid with goals 34 and 35 for the season in Bayern's 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The England captain fired off six shots in total in the home victory, while he also completed one dribble, made one key pass and one tackle in a player of the match performance. 


Eric Dier - Bayern Munich 


Remaining at the Allianz Arena, Eric Dier was solid at the back for Bayern as he made one clearance, one tackle and blocked one shot. Dier also found a teammate with 92.9% of his 98 attempted passes and sought to set Bayern on the frontfoot as he made eight accurate long balls. 


Jadon Sancho - Borussia Dortmund 


While Borussia Dortmund were smashed 4-1 by top-four rivals RB Leipzig on Saturday, Jadon Sancho still impressed in defeat as evidenced by a WhoScored rating of 7.71. Sancho netted his second league goal of the season and was unfortunate not to add an assist having made three key passes. The on-loan winger also completed four dribbles in a sound showing.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens - Borussia Dortmund


Jamie Bynoe-Gittens came off the bench against RB Leipzig over the weekend and was unlucky not to hit the back of the net as he struck the woodwork with one of three shots. The teenage winger also made two tackles and completed one dribble in a bright cameo. 


Ainsley Maitland-Niles - Lyon 


Lyon's impressive 3-2 win over Monaco on Sunday night not only handed PSG the title but gave their top six hopes a shot in the arm. Ainsley Maitland-Niles started at left-back for just the second time this season and was solid at the back. Indeed, he made three tackles and three clearances in the home victory. 


Angel Gomes - Lille 


Lille bounced back from their midweek 1-0 loss to Monaco with a hard-fought 2-1 win at relegation threatened Metz to boost their top-four aspirations. However, Angel Gomes wasn't at his best in the victory as evidenced by a WhoScored rating of 6.48. Gomes was dribbled past twice and failed to make a tackle, though did make two key passes. 


Marcus Edwards - Sporting CP 


It was a night of mixed emotions for Marcus Edwards at Porto on Sunday night. The winger came on in the 86th minute, provided the assist for Viktor Gyokeres' equaliser in the 88th minute and was sent off in the 90th minute in an indifferent four-minute cameo.  


Jonjo Shelvey - Rizespor 


Jonjo Shelvey provided his fifth assist of the season as Rizespor were held to a 2-2 draw against Ankaragucu. That assist came from his only key pass, while the 32-year-old also completed one dribble in what was a subdued display. 


Matt Crooks - Real Salt Lake 


Real Salt Lake secured an impressive 2-1 win at Philadelphia Union over the weekend though Matt Crooks struggled in the victory. Indeed, the midfielder made just one key pass and committed three fouls in a showing to forget. 


Lewis Morgan - NYRB 


Lewis Morgan netted his seventh league goal of the season in NYRB's 1-1 home draw with Vancouver Whitecaps. That goal came from one of seven shots, while the Scot also made two tackles in the stalemate.  


Ryan Gauld - Vancouver Whitecaps 


Remaining at the Red Bull Arena, Ryan Gauld was unfortunate not to register an assist in the Big Apple have made four key passes in the draw. Gauld also made one tackle and completed one dribble to land a WhoScored rating of 7.16. 


Matty Longstaff - Toronto FC 


Dropped to the bench for the trip to Orlando City, Matty Longstaff put in a spirited display following his introduction with 20 minutes to play. The 24-year-old made three tackles and completed two dribbles as he helped Toronto FC see out a 2-1 win.
