Team News

Verona
Roma
  • Hellas Verona were active in the transfer market, especially up front, but Andrea Mandorlini looks set to integrate just two new faces into his old system.
  • The line-up should therefore be a 4-3-3, with a 4-3-1-2 as a backup option involving Giampaolo Pazzini.
  • Roma have signed a few stars from the Premier League, and they are all set to debut here.
  • Leandro Castan will also be back after missing the previous season due to physical problems.
  • Kevin Strootman will miss out through injury, while it will be too soon for summer signing Antonio Rudiger to feature here. Juan Iturbe is unavailable through suspension.

Prediction

  • Verona's system has been reliable enough to secure their survival in Serie A with games to spare in the previous season, so it makes perfect sense to try and improve on what they already have rather than revolutionising their roster.
  • The Giallorossi made bold moves in recent summers, selling some of their stars for good money and bringing in some excellent talent. But to keep this working on an economic level they can't afford to make mistakes, especially this season, ahead of which they seem to have gone all-in in the title race.
  • Roma are clear favourites here, and all they need to do is find the proper chemistry between the players. The parade of visiting stars could also make the environment a little bit more hostile, which will be a good test for Roma's nerves straight away.

  • iago falque and iturbe should be a starter

  • Roma is sh*t

  • Dzeko flop of the match very very bad match awfull player

  • @ASRoma Your mom is awful. Go back to your hole, troll. Dzeko is fantastic.

  • @ASRoma Fuck off

  • Dzeko ain't even close to Toni, in with De Sanctis and Totti!

  • @QuantumDuck Totti*

  • Why don't Roma play 4-2-3-1? And why play Gervinho and Salah? That I'd only do with a False 9 dropping deep. Now Dzeko is dropping deep when he shouldn't have to and probably doesn't want to. Ljajic or Falque gives a better balance with Gervinho or Salah or Ibarbo on the other flank.

  • Holy sheep , the good old Toni is such an cult.

  • Roma 3:0 - Dzeko mom

  • Daje Roma! Quest'anno lo scudetto e' nostro!

  • Gervinho off - Falqué in...easy win for Roma 3-0

  • Also... the match. Roma to win 4-2.

  • New Serie A season, new Serie A banner! Felipe Anderson, Higuain, Totti and Dybala. Interesting. Pogba clearly Juve's star but Dybala the new wonderkid makes sense. Outside chance Anderson could prove be a flash in the pan, you don't want another Iturbe like last year. Totti might not make more than 15 starts but a Roma player has to be there and I suppose it should be Totti. Milan and Inter don't have stand out stars yet though a case could be made for Icardi who was there last year. Berardi was there last year so it seems you're not opposed to smaller clubs' players getting a nod so I say, why not Toni? That's my... analysis.

  • @dSquib they should make one with new acquisitions: Dzeko, Mandzukic, etc.

  • @santasa True. Works for this season, maybe not for all. . .
