Lyon win . Thank me later . Lyon may miss key vital players but that doesn't mean they wont be replaced . Lyon has a great academy . Could just call anyone and still replace them . Zenit have quality players but still have not attained balance . Lyon needs a win more than Zenit. I expect them to push zenit .
Zenit 1-2 Lyon
@zardonic why you keep calling people Noob, you f*cking M*daf*ka . Your intelligence and social skills and your method of interaction with people is soo poor. Nowander you have no friends. L**ser
You'll see Lyon will win this one. Russian teams don't do well against French teams. Last year Monaco drew 0-0 at Zenit and then beat Zenit 2-0 in Monaco. And i can assure you this Lyon side is better than the Monaco of last year. Lyon might be last of the group, they actually outplayed their opponents in both of their 1st game. They were just unlucky by missing a 90th penalty against Gent and hitting the woodwork a few times against Valencia. You'll see Lyon will play like their life depends on it and they'll win both legs, away & then at home.
@Mike.PSG As a Lyon fan I think that you are a common Franch Valbuena's worshipper. There is NO WAY Valbuena being better than Bernardo Silva, Beauvue better than Carasco ? Lacazette in this form doenst bring much more than Berbatov. I wont even talk about the midfield. Tolisso Ferri better than Moutinho Kondogbia ??? Cmon !!!!
@Mike.PSG Overall I don’t think it’s that true or relevant as an argument, particularly in recent times that "Russian teams don’t do well against French teams". But to humor you, aside from Zenit in my opinion Krasnodar for example were very unlucky to draw both games having generally outplayed Lille and the game with Rubin-Bordeaux, Rubin created the better chances despite being awful. This is all debatable ofc but for objectivity in the last 3 years it’s worth noting UEFA coefficients. In UCL there is no point discussing the past, anything can happen. I’ve wanted Zenit to play Lyon because they are an exciting team and games between France-Russia are always a pleasure.
@Mike.PSG You can speak about bad luck for Lyon but what is also true is Zenit being more ruthless and taking any and all their available chances this year. I am not an expert on Lyon but I just can’t see Lyon getting their first win at Petrvosky although a draw is possible. Zenit despite their bad form domestically are still in better shape than Lyon and I would actually say the team has improved from last season. What I can say is Zenit’s defence may be vulnerable as per my comment below and with Zenit you cannot rely on any sort of consistency. Zenit will want to win this as much as Lyon because their form in Europe is all they have atm and arguably if they have 9 points they are practically through.
With the current form of Zenit in UCL I’m a bit biased as their supporter but I think there are some more details you should take into account. Firstly, at home that was a draw, which was actually one of the best results anyone managed against Monaco in the UCL. Monaco last season: maybe not a better team than Lyon (or Benfica, Leverkusen, Arsenal and Zenit) but a unique team that through tactical prowess was able to play beyond their means. In the last 4 games against French opponents at home Zenit have at the very least not lost, pure intent from Lyon as shown by Valencia is unlikely to do much good.
Zenit are still not meeting expectations domestically and there have been a few concerns brewing for a squad that does not always deal well with rotation. In goal Lodygin who has not been convincing lately is now rotating with the solid but largely unproven M. Kerzhakov. Smolnikov and Criscito are BIG doubts which might leave Zenit to play 3 ATB or play someone in an unaccustomed position. Garay was allowed to rest for Kuban and they played 3 ATB there, this played out as a defensive disaster. The defensive line in particular is therefore potentially very thin and vulnerable. BUT Zenit are very much doing the job in Europe and if they can play carefully, not suffer from bad fortune and go in with the right attitude they should still beat Lyon.
@Marshavin Very interesting comment I must say, thank you! A little word on Lyon, who should start in a 4-3-3 after an awful first half in their usual 4-4-2 against Monaco. Bedimo is OUT, Darder and Beauvue are (according to l'Equipe) going to start on the bench and Ghezzal and Ferri should start in Russia. Mbiwa has been very poor and unreliable since his return in L1 and Bisevac's absence will be quite noticeable again. I still hope for Lyon to get a draw but it doesn't smell good ATM...
Although Russian teams are not so balanced, Lyon should not cause any problem to Zenit in St. Petersburg. Zenit got the luck to play in such a weak group, they leverage that with another win.
3:1

@Mike.PSG Really not sure about it. If it was last year's Lyon yes, but this one I don't know.
@Milann True they are missing Fékir's magic but i still think they will.
@Mike.PSG You are quite confident...
Zenit win 100 % 2-1,1-0.....
