Kane had 4 good chances which he missed, 2 of those need to go in. Barkley and Delph missed decent opportunities in the first half too. We could easily have scored 3 and in the end, two world class finishes have won it for Spain. That's the difference at the top level.
An opportunity to test the counter-attacking style England will employ against the stronger teams at the Euros.
If the new-found realism surrounding England means we stop expecting to outplay better sides and play to our strengths (i.e. tactical organisation and pace), then we could be in for a suprisingly exciting tournament.
Arrogant sides with attack-minded full backs and/or ageing centre halves beware... (so long as our defensive concentration holds out)... (and we don't go behind and have to chase a game)... (and that probably excludes Germany because they'll don't seem to have any weaknesses) :-s.
@bensellars- Germany's defence is a big weakness and their lack of a true number 9 may cost them against the better teams. There's also the fact that they have a plan A only and if that doesn't work, they don't win.
This should be a good test for us. If we're to do anything in the Euros, we will need to develop a potent counter attack since there are many better teams in possession than us. Spain will have 65% of the ball minimum and control the game but they commit their full-backs far forward which should give us some space in which to counter into. I suspect Shelvey will play next to Dier with Barkley in the 10 and Lallana and Sterling either side of him, behind Rooney in the 9. Spain tend not to take friendlies too seriously so it wont be a true test of where we are but playing against this type of opposition will be helpful. Winning in Spain is tough but I don't think we'll lose so I'll go 1-1.

I could see us winning at Wembley, will be hard over in Spain.
