@What4 Well, it wasn't brilliant from Italy, they hardly played any football. But it was a good performance and smart strategy against a individually superior opponent.
Chiellini 2 tackles, there's no hope. Just because he completely dominates his opponents by slaughtering the all, it doesn't mean it's simply a clearance, it's a tackle as well. Pathetic.
That what's wrong with this site - Eder played better than Pelle, but if you look at the rating, he was at Lukaku level. Seriously? Eder was exquisite today, but according to ratings, he was third worst player on the pitch. But he was not, played very well.
@El_Duderino No, Pellè was really good at taking the ball from hard balls, controlling the game from a target man role, Éder failed with his assignment, to support in runs and as a poacher, he failed with technique and couldn't hold his end at duels, he did one or two good passes, but shouldn't play ahead of any forwards in Italy.

Very opposite teams to be honest. Belgium have many players who are one of the very best in their position but they often fail to play as a team. Italy don't really have any star players except Buffon but they are definitely better than sum of their parts. Nevertheless, I'm worried that Italy left out Vazquez, Bonaventura, Jorginho and Giovinco who are all more skillful players than anyone in their line up. And they don't give a chance for Isigne either, makes me wonder who is expected to make a difference for them. Still, Belgium will struggle to break Italy's strong defense and Buffon won't make it any easier. I'd go for 1-0 or 0-0 but I do hope I'm wrong and we somehow see lots of goals tonight!
@Castle seriously I agree with everything you said and I like you a lot. But saying this squad has no star is just plain ignorance. How does de rossi, motta, chellini, bonucci and barzagli sound to you? They are all super stars. Italy definitely do not have as much star power as belgium have definitely but not saying any stars is plain ignorance. Dang it is just not it everyone here. Chellini especially is defnitely world best defender besides diego Godin. He is defintely a lot better than Boateng, Pique, Kompany, Verthogen and Koscielny. He is slighlty above Ramos and Hummels. Why hell is he underrated by many people and pundits is just beyond me. I'm bundesliga fan by the way. Considering Chellini above Hummesl and Boateng means I'm not being biased here
@Ffaris Thanks for a good reply! I do think Italy have many top players as you mentioned, I just can't see many game changers. But I'd like to add Candreva is appearing to be one. He had a bad season but has always performed for his country as far as I know. In my opinion he was the best player on the pitch, although Italy's defense made great job too considering how much space Italy left in their own half at times. I've been a fan of Motta since Mourinho era and he's doing great in PSG, such a neat passing and good touch but he'll hardly decide any match. Italy's forwards play well together as the whole team and Bonucci in my opinion is even better than Chiellini in overall because of his passing, although no defender has better attitude than Chiellini. Italy have a good squad, I'm just little disappointed in some of Conte's exclusions. But maybe he'll prove me wrong as he did last night.

well predicting who will win who whether on the basis of attack or defence does not matter. Even Belgium had kompany and vermaleen leading effectively meaning beligium would reliable defence and a great attack. Italy would have the advantage and might even win becoz- All of the people here are discounting the fact what shirt of Italian NT means and how mentally strong Italians are. This post is no way giving low blow to belgium. In fact I like Belgium a lot. They remind of Franconized version of Dutch team which I adore. So same goes for Belgium. In fact if I remeber correctly Italy won 2006 wc Laquinta leading the line.

It seems very balanced, I mean...Belgium has better players but they never reach the expected level as a team. On the otheer hand Italy is always an organized team even when it doesn't have big names it can be very pragmatic.
Italy is weak in attack, but super strong in defense. Belgium is the opposite. Difficult to predict: Belgium could dazzle and win by 3, but Italy could also play catenaccio and score 3 on the break.
