Team News
PSG
Man City
- Marco Verratti and Javier Pastore are expected to miss out on the visit of Manchester City because of injury, while Serge Aurier is still being integrated back into the first-team.
- Edinson Cavani may still miss out at the expense of Lucas. Adrien Rabiot should replace Verratti in central midfield.
- Kevin de Bruyne made a stunning return to first-team action at the weekend after more than two months out injured, although Manuel Pellegrini insists he isn't guaranteed to start in Paris.
- Samir Nasri is also back available after coming off the bench in their 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday after nearly six months out injured, but he was axed from City's Champions League squad at the start of the year.
- Yaya Toure missed the win against Bournemouth and will still be sidelined for Wednesday's match, which may actually benefit City in the quest for balance against the Ligue 1 champions.
- Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany join the Ivorian on the sidelines for Wednesday's fixture. Joe Hart has returned to training but it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to return between the sticks. Fabian Delph is also back in full training.
Brilliant result for us considering some of the errors we made. I thought Mangala did very well in defence, he usually defends well against the big strikers. Both sides got a bit of luck however when the chances came city took them well compared to PSG. Matuidi is a big blow for them in the 2nd leg however i believe the game will be just as hard at the Etihad.
Silva should have got a higher score for this game, played really good match. In case with Fernando disaster - Hart is also to blame, he was just standing near the goal, seeing Fernando was pressed by Ibra. Anyway great penalty save changed the scenario of this match
these two teams are tinker made for each other
Bookies are the real winners!
Was PSG in a poor day or City in a good one ? Very very disappointing from Motta, Cavani, Matuidi...
@Murgen- This wasn't a good day for City, they tried their best to lose it early on and defensively still look terrible without Kompany. PSG were far worse than their usual standard though. Now it'll be an uphill struggle for them. I don't see City losing at home.
@Murgen PSG was in a poor day indeed, but that's not the first time. MC defence was appaling (Mangala "facepalm", Fernando "facepalm"...), but Zlatan was not at the top (as often, poor in the big games) as he missed a lot and then disappeared in the second half. Zlatan does always score the penalties in exactly the same way. Hart just did a great timing job, excelent stop, and great video homework :) David Luiz is very critisized in Brazil, and Aurier should never play again for PSG after what he has done. But PSG has no better right back... So, MC bad defence but strong attack (De Bruyne made a great comeback), PSG average defence with mistakes, and disapointing attack...
Good chance-creation by City from their limited possession- the same number as PSG (10) despite having half the ball. Have to give them credit for that, as much as I dislike their (and PSG's) ethos.
Lazy, Lazy, Lazy PSG :|
City's defence is amateurish.
What role does fernando play for city, please? I don't see him in Guardiola's side.
@Philip_AE- As @MiguelSuave said below, you wont see him in Pep's side. His role is SUPPOSED to be a solid pure DM to sit in front of the defence. When you have no tackling skills and lack the ability to spot danger then you simply wont make it as a DM. He's 1 of many who will be shown the door. It'll be interesting to see who Pep brings in as the DM (providing he keeps the 4-2-3-1 system). Sebastian Rode has been touted as a possible signing. He can play as a sitting midfielder of the 2 or the middle of a flat 3 so could be a good signing.
@Philip_AE you probably won't
3-1...и точка!!
paris is too strong for city in this period of time... I cant see they let anything happen except a comfortable victory...
Great match i hope .City to win by one goal dif
PSG XI: Trapp, Aurier, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Maxwell, Rabiot, Motta, Matuidi, Di María, Ibrahimovic, Cavani
This could be a blessing that Yaya is injured. Here's the full City starting XI: Hart, Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero. With Fernando and Fernandinho in the mid it helps City with a greater rigidity than what Yaya brings. I still think PSG will win 2-1 however.
Aurier starts :o
PSG 2-1 City.
3 - 0 Paris Saint Germain Win.
3 - 0 Paris Saint Germain Win.
PSG win. Ibrahimovic to score.
Can't see us getting a result here. De bruyne returning is a boost however most optimism is coming from a big win at bournemouth when in reality we have been poor against every top side we have faced. PSG will have too much despite the absence of Verrati, im going with a 2-0 PSG.
Manchester City have conceded one goal in five games. Yes, their defence was all over the place. But the last five games suggest it isn't anymore. My heart and head both say PSG will win. PSG's performance against Chelsea (who can be a difficult task in the CL, due to their clever tactical approach and experience) suggests PSG will go win this leg and go through. But.. if Man City play well and Aguero is at his best no one can argue that they are capable of pulling off an almighty upset here. If PSG are at their best they will win regardless of what form Aguero is in.
home win or draw
My heart is with Pellegrini in this tie but experience at this stage will fall short on them, City's back line is a complete mess, Sagna, DeMichelis, Mangala, Otamendi, Clichy/Kolarov, Yaya his head is elsewhere and Fernandinho is ok, only threat City will offer is Aguero and De Bruyne, I will count Sterling out as he has no persona to show up in this kind of match. Small time flashy player with no end product. PSG to win 2:1
@albgunn what experience. The sheikh mansour man city has more expreience in cl than PSG. Do u want me to give u stats. The only differnce bw those team is one is playing well and the other is not despite be given better tie previously.
@Ffaris PSG have reached this stage in the last four years and their players have, on average, play more UCL matches than Manchester City so experience is on PSG's side tonight...
@albgunn excuse me? sterling has been brilliant in CL however he's injured, lol..
draw, 1-1
City have little to offer big games. Their record against top sides in the Premier League is only just better than Villa's. They lost home and away to the strongest opponents in the group stage. When they can't dominate possession and territory they crumble. If anything, Chelsea had a better chance as they are better equipped to play as the underdogs. 3-1
EL CA$HICO HAHAHAH
@fahsfjashf do you mean el PLASTICO?
@glenbayern Nah man PSG is far from Plastic. We have a lot of fans before the money...
@YMurey and just for your information man city is almost 100 years older than PSG....
@Chuck97 psg isnt a pure sugar daddy club like city.
@Chuck97 and just for your information PSG is almost 100 times better than man city...
@Chuck97 100 years Good ur delusional u want me bring up facts man city 1894 Psg: 1904 difference-10 years so where heck is 100 year difference now u muppet. It not difficult to find those fact either. I got it from wikipedia. Next time if u bring shit plz try using wikipedia for next time. Yup PSG is not plastic they were already one best club from france had won title in modern era without their sugar daddy unlike man city.
@Ffaris The same owner who has pumped millions into a state of the art training facility and stadium upgrade, whilst transforming the east side of manchester and providing hundreds of jobs? good try tho
@Ffaris PSG = 1970. Sure, there were other clubs in Paris before but the club as we know it today was made all over at at that thime.
@glenbayern Both are acceptable.
PSG should win both legs pretty comfortably. They have a lot more experience at this stage than City, and they are playing within themselves this season. City nowhere near good enough collectively to stop PSG, even without midfield maestro Marco Verratti.
@Mike.PSG Nah, way too confident man it will be tough...
Both teams are lucky not to face Barca, Bayern and Madrid's teams. They are built with cash to succeed in their own leagues but are not made to compete against world's top clubs. PSG are favorites but this is a good chance for both to get to latter stages of CL. Neither club will probably make it past semi finals.
@Castle Every big team is built with cash lol, don't know why this is always brought up against PSG. PSG isn't even in the top 10 clubs when it comes to cash. Real, Barca and ManU easily have 5x more $$$. PSG can't make it past Barca, but getting past Real they have a solid chance.
@Castle I think you mean Barca, Bayern and Real Madrid were lucky to avoid one another. Funny how that worked out, isn't it?
@Castle not rly lucky we all knew PSG would not get real madrid since wolfsburg and benfica are there ;)
@fahsfjashf Benfica is not weak. Put that in your mind.
