Ronaldo wasn't 100%. Benzema was injured. Jese has clearly some tactical problems. Real had only Bale fully fit for the tie for their attacking positions. Needless to say, Lucas Vasquez had 2 decent games as well. In addition, Casemiro was a huge blow in the second game. Had RM played offensively in this game, they would have had some problems as Casemiro offers tranquility, balance and so much more to the offensive and defensive play. Zidane tried to manage the games and he was fantastic in doing so. Had Real Madrid played with Benzema and Ronaldo, fully fit, it would have been very different in both games.
Can't complain over the result but City made it pretty much a guaranteed Real win the way they attacked tonight. Lethargic, lacklustre and unimaginative- pretty much sums up Pellergini. I was sure City would attack from minute one. The prem is gone, and has been since Pep's appointment for next season was announced, and there's no way Man Utd or West Ham will finish in the top 4 (although now I hope the Hammers do :-p ). the Kompany injury was a blow but they still had enough of the ball to create chances with, yet there was no invention. Real Madrid played it defensively after going a goal up and wasted a lot of time but frankly City didn't deserve anything. Only needing a score draw against a Benzema-less Real Madrid side and you're through to the final. Most teams would take that and go hell for leather. Not City, and people wonder why Pellegrini will be replaced. Not sure what Fernando offers this team btw. Worst DM in a perennial CL side.
Needless to say the La Liga retains the Champions League and Europa League trophies for the third consecutive season.
Champions League final: Atl. Madrid vs Real Madrid
Europa League final: Sevilla vs Villareal
This gotta be one of the weakest CL in a while now. No team has showed particular strength and the final doesn't look very interesting as the encounter of Real and Atletico are usually dediced by an error either by the referee or the players themselves rather than a good display.
The most entertaining matches in this CL were Bayern vs Juve (both legs) so I couldn't care less about the final.
Who would have thought this fixture would be decided by 1 goal, and the Atletico-Bayern game would have4 goals. Neither team here deserved to reach the semis.
@What4 what are you talking about? Real has the tightest defense and are only second to Bayern in terms of goals scored. Football can a be a cagey chess match at times and this was one of them. It's not like chances were not created. Real created plenty of chances on both legs and City had their moments too.
Shambolic attacking from Man City. Aguero, Toure and De Bruyne looked like they'd rather be on a beach in Abu Dhabi. But Real Madrid didn't show anything that would frighten Atletico either.
@DeanO not wrong, check your comment for yesterday:
DeanO - member since 20-Dec-15
Bayern fans...thought you said you'd win UEFA for us (barca fans)????? Anyway,,Im an African, from a long lineage of witches...and what I forsaw is that Atleti wont win it if Real go through...lets see....
Real Madrid was very conservative which was logical because Casemiro was a huge blow. They could have scored the second goal easily but they played with the minimum risk possible. City couldn't create anything and I'm sure they didn't deserve to go to the final.
@CirdomAkul- That's it. Real weren't tested at all defensively over the 2 legs and this is a City team who has only had this competition to concentrate on for a good 6 weeks. Terrible display.
@felipe9525 In case anyone missed that, felipe is refering to Keylor Navas acting like his leg was about to fall off because a teammate brushed against him.
City has been ridiculous. Just ridiculous. The players didn't want to win the game, from the start, they were just waiting the end of the match... Never seen such a poor game in my life.
Toure offers very little, he can't press or make any runs behind defense. City need KDB behind Aguero, he already set up good chance for Fernandinho from that area. Game is still on!
@Castle is Toure in this game? Because I haven't seen him.. De bruyne and Aguero left their boots in Manchester.. I just need Vasquez to come in and terrorize this city back line and with James' accurate crosses alongside Carvajal and Marcelo?? Damn.. City are ouy
Jesus.. This predicted line-up hurts my eyes. Flashing news: James on the bench yet again, Isco in the midfield, Jese also playing from the start. City is going for overcrowding-the-midfield tactics, also I can't help but wonder how is it possible that Navas gets starting XI in a game of this magnitude. I guess it's just because of Silva being out. Madrid to push relentlessly. As for the score, I don't make predictions. We will see how fit Ronaldo is.
Toure starts which is worrying for City but maybe he'll provide some physicality. Also his ball skills are still pretty good, defending maybe not so. Both teams will create, Real probably more but in the end result depends which team takes their chances better. Yesterday Bayern created just enough chances to progress but failed to score a needed goal. Same could happen today.
It's very dangerous to play with Kroos,Modric at DMC,I hope Ramos will start in midfield with Varane and Pepe in the back.
2-0 for Real Madrid (Ronaldo,Bale)
Hopefully we see a beter match then last week, hoping for City to score within the first 15mins of the game otherwise i see RM playing it out and finishing it in the 2nd half if the 1st half ends 0-0. Either 1-0 or 2-1 for RMCF would be my guess
No Casi No Party. With Ronaldo certainly not 100% fit, I can see RM struggling tonight. City will probably have to defend at their own 3rd most of the game, and will look for a quick counter attack with Nava-de Bruyne-Aguero. I would go with a draw in this one, 1-1 score.
@MQ1 City kept surprisingly lot of ball in the first leg, although Real controlled second half and that's probably where this match is also going. Real will probably create more but City will also look to play some longer attacks too instead of relying just in counter. If City score first though, they'll surely take less risks and attack with fewer players.
@nap I guess you mean who will qualify to the final? If todays game ends in a 1-1 draw then Manchester City goes to the final. If it ends 0-0 then we have extra time.
The biggest threats for the Real Madrid defence will likely be De Bruyne and Aguero who are the star players of Man City. If Real Madrid handle them well then City will have trouble creating chances. For Real Madrid, Ronaldo remains the biggest threat to score goals but it is Bale who has been winning games in Ronaldo's absence and i expect Bale to once again be the man to either create scoring chances for his team or take the chances himself. The game will most likely be decided on Real Madrid's midfield trio. If Kroos,Modric and Isco/James tick properly and win the midfield battle, then Real Madrid can dominate and lay siege on City's goal...and the truth is Man City are no Atletico whilst defending. They have their good days but overall they have shown that in times they become vulnurable and may even tire out towards the end of the game.
I would like to once again emphasize the fact that this is a semi-final and thus no team should be underestimated. Man City are not going to Madrid for tourism, they will fight until the end with all they got. If Real Madrid wishes to participate in the Milan Final then they will once again have to defend properly and put on their scoring boots. The absense of Casemiro is a huge loss, even bigger then to that of Benzema, though Ronaldo is returning and that means Man City will have to be extra carefull now. Navas in goal with Marcelo,Ramos,Pepe and Carvajal in defence, Kroos,Modric and most likely Isco in midfield with Ronaldo,Bale and probably L.Vazquez the trio up front. James and Jese also have a chance to start but Isco and L.Vazquez are more likely because they defend better and Zidane will probably want to make sure they do not concede as they will need to score twice. Real Madrid should have the ball abit more then City and will logically create more chances then City.
@Turan Very well put. In terms of Real Madrid missing Casemiro's presence in the middle of the field, this can be the difference. However we hope to see another player step up and put on a good show at home in front of a packed house. It will be interesting to see where the focus of attack of Real Madrid will be; Bale or Ronaldo. I am hoping both can help each other out. This could be a statement game for what could be an all Spanish final once again. Manuel Pellegrini will want to do everything in his power to reach the final, a task City's future manager Pep couldn't achieve last night with Bayern. I am confident Zidane has prepared his team well enough, an opportunity like this doesn't present itself often for a relatively young manager, then again he already knows that. Zizou is not one to shy away from the big stage. Let's hope for an enjoyable clean game.
Will be many goals 3-2 or similar result. Real looked really prone to concede vs Roma or Wolfsburg, Man City with Sterling, Bruyne and Toure will get goal or two here. Prediction over 3.5 goals, score 3-2
I want Real to win this, simply because it is good for la liga and I don't want anyone saying English teams are good because city reached the final. Arab city will hopefully never win the champions league.
@koziol.mutant nothing wrong with being sponsored by Arabs, I just don't like that man city participates in financial doping to the highest level. The worst part is that they don't even earn their own money, it's all from investments.
I think we (city) wasted an opportunity in the home tie. Madrid were without Ronaldo and an unfit benzema, we needed that vital 1-0 win. Now, with Ronaldo coming back i can see maybe a 2-0 or 2-1 madrid however Benzema links Bale and Ronaldo so it will be interesting to see how they play. Also Casemiro is a big blow as he does what others shy away from. Tackle. We have a chance however i think madrid are too strong at home.
De Bruyne should definitely start behind Aguero, he's the one to exploit pace between Real's defense and midfield now that Casemiro won't play. Sterling might therefore come to left, if not Delph who could give more protection for Clichy. Real could find attacking quite hard without Benzema's link-up play and intelligent movement, but I believe they have better chance to score with Ronaldo back and playing at home. I just hope absence of Casemiro pushes them to more attacking approach instead of playing it safe. Scores 1-0, 1-1 and 2-1 are the most likely to me, both teams have still a chance to go through.
If Ottamendi commits a foul in the box, referee will award Barcelona a penalty. yeah you read it correctly. to Barcelona. the only team with twelve players :)
Zidane press conference has done just now, the summary : Cristiano is ready 100% while Benz and Casemiro out. I think 4-4-2 is the best eligible for tomorrow match. Isco Modric Kroos and Vasquez in midfield and Bale + Cris up front. #HalaMadrid #AporLaUndecima
@jefferee Now that is just not fair. That team has an huge fanbase and very loud stadium (save for a few moments in history.) They could not have done so much without such wonderful fans, who had proven that they are indeed the #12 player in a great team. Referee is #13.
Real Madrid has been simply another team in the Santiago Bernabeu. However, their away form has been better recently. Real Madrid has to be patient in here. If they concede first, it would be extremely difficult to turn the tie around.
@John_Wick I will have to agree that Vazquez run alot and helps not only attacking but defending aswell. i think Zidane is also in knowledge of this and that is why he has given him so many mins lately. I just hope Vazquez plays on the right because he doesnt seem to be comfortable playing on the left.
@John_Wick I think it will be the same tactic as always. Isco or Jese have a chance to start but i think it is Vazquez who is more likely to start instead of Benzema. If Casemiro also misses the game, then Isco might be in contention to start aswell.
The Champions League is only two wins away. The team depends on nobody but themselves. but we have to do our job by supporting the team. we will give everything on wednesday while i admit and be realistically its quite hard to see barca slipped in last 2 matches in La Liga. as its just a simple game vs granada and espanyol (in campnou). So our chances to save this season is only go to final in Milan and won it. i belive tho in atmosphere Real Madrid give in CL for madridistas #HalaMadrid #AporLaUndecima
@Mahdi Yes barca did play, reached the quarter finals but got knocked out by atletico, you know, the team which put 4 past your team, beat you at home this season, and are ahead of you in the league.
With Cristiano and Benzema still a doubt for this match, i know its difficult but don't be pesimistic lads... always remember anything can happen at Santiago Bernabeu! we have to be united to play in final, Real Madrid 2 - 0 Manchester City #HalaMadrid
Uefalona must be ready with their stellar team of 12 men. They are favourite to retain the champions league. I think they are the only team who can do it. Their 12th man never fails them and deserves the ballon d'or recognition. Love him or hate him, 12th man is the best.
@John_Wick CR7 has been saved by referees at least 4 times this season in the league. He should have been banned for at least 5 matches for his violent conduct. RM have cheated to beat teams at least 2 times this season, scoring offside match winners and the referee also took goals off the opposition side and called their goals offside, even though they weren't. RM have cheated at least 12 points this season.
With Ronaldo and Benzema most probably not fully fit for this game, it will be up to Bale to make the difference once again. Marcelo,Pepe,Carvajal and Kroos were rested in Saturday's game against R.Sociedad so they should be fresher. Ramos looked fresh, though his position isnt as demanding. Casemiro,Modric and Bale played and towards the end of the game you could tell they got tired. If Ronaldo and Benzema actually miss the game L.Vasquez is almost certain to retain his spot and the last spot will be awarded to one of Jese,Isco or James.
Real Madrid are a very weak side just waiting to be found out. They're gonna stumble into another trophy though because of small game Aguero and a tired Atletico that can't play 120 minutes.
Any team that has reached the semi-finals can win the trophy but Real Madrid playing at the Bernabeu begins with a slight phsycological advantage, especially coming into this match without having lost in Manchester.
La Liga is stronger than we imagine and is the best league there is.
@TSN someone is counting their chickens about Europa
The power of La Liga strikes again. The domination continues.
What a handsome goal by bale
Yaya Touré looked 55 years old tonight
City played like grandpa;s
Pellegrini is a coward man

madrid final derby
poor poor City, just a different levels today. Maybe Pep will decrease a gap.
Yaya Toure is very slow. Generally City played very slowly.
Bet heavy on Real for the final...Heed the words of an African from a family of witches and conjurors,,
@DeanO yeah yeah, according to your "predicitions" City should have been in the final.
@tar88s lol wrong African dude :)
@DeanO not wrong, check your comment for yesterday: DeanO - member since 20-Dec-15 Bayern fans...thought you said you'd win UEFA for us (barca fans)????? Anyway,,Im an African, from a long lineage of witches...and what I forsaw is that Atleti wont win it if Real go through...lets see....

@CirdomAkul By 'conservative' you mean parking the bus after they got the goal and wasting time, just as Galacticos should.
@What4 Navas alone wasted at least 3 minutes btw.
@felipe9525- I'm surprised he can still walk! When a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on...
@felipe9525 In case anyone missed that, felipe is refering to Keylor Navas acting like his leg was about to fall off because a teammate brushed against him.
City is just like Everton
City has been ridiculous. Just ridiculous. The players didn't want to win the game, from the start, they were just waiting the end of the match... Never seen such a poor game in my life.
I can't believe I got another prediction right.. Am a genius mehnn
If we get knocked out because of an own goal, I'll cry.
city sold it with 0 shame, Pellegrini director of that
We need to score. Please!
Aguero less than 0 by the way
Navas is 0 not 6.1
It's gonna be 1-1 at the end
@neumi17 ◪_◪
Why did they change that to Fernandinho?? Can't they just leave it for Bale?
@jefferee Fernando. But does it really matter?
Toure offers very little, he can't press or make any runs behind defense. City need KDB behind Aguero, he already set up good chance for Fernandinho from that area. Game is still on!

Fernando own goal guys
Own goal,,,surely?
And Bale scores
cmon city dont give up.... you can do this...
@shevchenco ◔_◔
@shevchenco By writing bigger checks.
damn, what a goal by Bale
could this be the night Bale and Ramos sends Man City packing?? I can't wait

It's very dangerous to play with Kroos,Modric at DMC,I hope Ramos will start in midfield with Varane and Pepe in the back. 2-0 for Real Madrid (Ronaldo,Bale)
2-0 Ronaldo & James
But i'd still stick with zidane
Zidane has introduced absolutely nothing creatively into our game. We still wins matches based on individual brilliance and set piece goals.
@John_Wick He doesn't have the tools. Perez has to change his transfer policy.
KIsco n Jese will start imo
3-1
4-1
Ronaldo is back, we wont lack that cutting edge
Hopefully we see a beter match then last week, hoping for City to score within the first 15mins of the game otherwise i see RM playing it out and finishing it in the 2nd half if the 1st half ends 0-0. Either 1-0 or 2-1 for RMCF would be my guess

@Turan don't have a good feeling about this game either.

@Turan Having Isco start is bad news for City. Imagine Fernando and Fernandinho kicking air while he runs right past with the ball glued to his feet
@Turan VERY 3WELL
@Turan Very well put. In terms of Real Madrid missing Casemiro's presence in the middle of the field, this can be the difference. At least 2-0 Real Madrid due to Silva absence and Ronaldo back
4-1 Real Madrid
Might be a close game, probably won't, but only one result: Madrid goes to the final, it's inevitable. Good run, City.
I could enthusiastically give my vote/support to RM with little reservation because of the big loss CASEMIRO and BENZ. #HALAMADRID#
1-1 or 2-2, please.
Cant wait
Real 0-0 Man City Sub on Caballero in ET and he saves all of Real's PKs. We win PKs 1-0.
@KarimOquendo wow! What a dream! You are more legendary than Joseph
@jefferee the caballero bit was hopeful. the 0-0 was a legit prediction.
Woohh--hoo I can't wait to beat Manchester City tomorrow.. We will pluck off the feathers from their badge tomorrow
Casemiro is a huge loss for Real Madrid.
@CirdomAkul what happened to him>
@CirdomAkul True. But never mind we have Keylor The Saviour Navas
Will be many goals 3-2 or similar result. Real looked really prone to concede vs Roma or Wolfsburg, Man City with Sterling, Bruyne and Toure will get goal or two here. Prediction over 3.5 goals, score 3-2
4 - 1 Real Madrid Win. Champions League final. Real Madrid vs Atelico Madrid "real madrid champions"
@bima1001 Bale has 0 CL goals
I want Real to win this, simply because it is good for la liga and I don't want anyone saying English teams are good because city reached the final. Arab city will hopefully never win the champions league.
@Beastador Real is sponsored by Arabs too :) at least on shirts but still, they and Chinese are everywhere it seems
@Castle casemiro i a signi loss
If Ottamendi commits a foul in the box, referee will award Barcelona a penalty. yeah you read it correctly. to Barcelona. the only team with twelve players :)
@Mahdi idiot
@francois We love to make you look like a red apple :)

All sucked except Modric and Pepe basically in 1st.
Navas Carvajal-Pepe-Ramos-Marcelo Modric-Casemiro-Kroos Bale-Jese-Ronaldo
Are there genuine city fans on this site? What they think of the game?
@NuchalLine kik
While Ronaldo trained with the group, Benzema trained on his own. Perhaps Zidane starts Ronaldo but leaves Benzema out and L.Vasquez starts instead.
@Turan I think Jese or Isco might start. I definitely think we should go for a 442
@John_Wick I think it will be the same tactic as always. Isco or Jese have a chance to start but i think it is Vazquez who is more likely to start instead of Benzema. If Casemiro also misses the game, then Isco might be in contention to start aswell.
@Turan Vazquez has been impressive. I never thought he'd impress me after he was brought back from espanyol. Some Credit goes to Benitez here.
@NuchalLine Indeed i too have good words to say for Vazquez, good lad.

@Vellicahearst Real are only 1 loss away from a another consecutive trophy less season.
@Beastador dont hatch your eggs, espanyol is not easy.
@Beastador Is Barcelona playing in the champions league this season?
@Mahdi barca have owned you for a decade now
@Mahdi barca has won trteble twice
@asinko You mean treble defeats? Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Valencia. if so i do agree with you. it was a deserved treble :) congrats :p
@Mahdi Yes barca did play, reached the quarter finals but got knocked out by atletico, you know, the team which put 4 past your team, beat you at home this season, and are ahead of you in the league.
@Beastador Stop crying
@Beastador So you got knocked out despite help from referees. hmmmm Atletico must be a strong side :)))))))
@Mahdi uefadrid gets more help from refs jeez
@asinko kik
@asinko For example?
@Beastador u r a atleti fa icl?
@Beastador trying hard like clos gomez
@John_Wick Hernandez Hernandez
@John_Wick Alberto Undiano Mallenco
@Realmadridfan And Carlos Clos Gomes
@Turan we need one of benz or cr7 at 100%
@John_Wick Benzema's injury seems less important to that of Ronaldo but i dont think they have had enough time to recover
@Turan Benz is crucial too, the middle attacking sense was tootless due to his abense. Lets hope bth recover.
@Turan i prefer isco.
@NuchalLine I prefer we buy back Di maria fgs
@Vellicahearst Di Mara is history now, look forward fr someone talented.
@John_Wick Really miss him bro, i think pogba will be good
tough game for everyone involved
@asinko why the downvotes?
Real Madrid are a very weak side just waiting to be found out. They're gonna stumble into another trophy though because of small game Aguero and a tired Atletico that can't play 120 minutes.
In Real we trust.
LET THE GOALS RAIN INTO THE CITY GOAL POSTS! 3-1! Hala Madrid!
This will be good.
Any team that has reached the semi-finals can win the trophy but Real Madrid playing at the Bernabeu begins with a slight phsycological advantage, especially coming into this match without having lost in Manchester.
