- Cristiano Ronaldo limped out of training on Tuesday after a collision with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and is now a doubt for the final, which would be a huge blow to Real Madrid's chances on Saturday.
- Raphael Varane has been ruled out of the Champions League with a thigh injury. He is the only player certain to miss the final. Otherwise Zinedine Zidane can select his strongest XI.
- Tiago made his first appearance for Atletico in their 2-0 win over Celta Vigo in the last league game of the season following six months out injured. He isn't expected to feature in the final, however, with Diego Simeone likely to select the same XI that started against Celta.
- Simeone must decide between pairing Gabi with Koke or Augusto Fernandez in the middle of the park.

It was a battle of Staminas, grit and passion to win it. I was suprised to see how RM went much further than Atletico in that sense. Its like Atleti knew they'd lose it even if they tried. Its sad to see El Nino not win with his boyhood club. Real won the champions league with 2 easy draws and a penalty lottery. It is what it is, can't take anything away from them, you have to beat who is put in front of you. Happy to see both trophies to stay in Spain for 3 consecutive years.

The temperature in Milan was around 26C so the weather was too hot and that is the main reason that the game perhaps wasn't intense enough. Real Madrid played with a similar style of play az Atletico. For me, Ronaldo and Benzema were very bad. Once Carvajal got injured I thought that RM were going to lose but that didn't happen obviously. Casemiro and Bale were outstanding. Gabi and Carrasco were sensational. Juanfran has just had his best game of his career but it was a pity for him that he missed the penalty. Modric and Isco had decent games as well.

From what I have seen so far from both teams, it is very likely that the game would have an extra time. I'll go with 0-0 and Real Madrid scoring one goal in the extra time. However this game could numerous scenarios. For instance, if Real scores first in the beginning of the game, we could see more goals in the game and so on. But If Atletico scores first, it's hugely likely that the game would end up 0-1 to ATM. In conclusion, the first priority for RM is to not concede any goals then they have to focus on other things.

Real should aim to move the ball quickly in order to make Atletico's defending harder and more tiresome. As everyone says, Atletico will play very compactly sitting back and hitting counter attacks whenever possible but I wouldn't be too surprised to see them occasionally press higher to give more pressure to Real's defenders and midfielders. Casemiro has improved Real's defending but he was a bit nervous with the ball against City at times which Atletico could try to exploit as well as any misplaced balls from Ramos and Pepe. Griezmann is Atleti's most dangerous player but also Koke and Saul can make difference given opportunity. Atletico are hard to brake but Bayern showed it's possible to create and score against them although it requires right approach and lot of patience. Zidane has about 90 (or 120) minutes to find out how to do that, a huge task considering it took more than that for Pep's side to score. 1-2 for Atletico with at least one set piece goal and Griezmann MotM.
I expect a very tight game, Atletico mostly defending and trying to hit Real Madrid on the counter. I expect Casemiro sweeping everything for Real Madrid, Modric and Kroos circulating the ball well, Ramos and Pepe reassuring at the back. Navas cleaning whatever comes his way, Carvajal helping Bale with overlapping runs and Marcelo creating danger from left. Benzema to distribute the ball to the sides and perhaps scoring a goal, Ronaldo will likely have a few chances to score and might get a goal and Bale cutting inside and trying to shoot-cross the ball for Benzema and Ronaldo. Atletico are good at defending and it will be important for Real Madrid players to go for the 1v1 with good dribbles and create chances there. Real Madrid to get the job done.
@Turan I agree on your expectations. Casemiro's role will be very important, I believe Atletico will try to disrupt his flow from the get go. Benzema, as you said will distribute the ball as he always plays the connector between the BBC line, I hope to see him score a decisive goal. Could an early goal for either team change both team's approach? Could Real Madrid really sit back if Zidane's "kill off the game as early as possible" philosophy goes through? I believe psychological pressure will play a factor on certain players who may not live up to the expectations, whereas underrated players will step up. Let's hope for a fun game to watch as well!

Atleti are going to bully us down the middle and react wide. Super defensive setup. They'll counter attack whenever they can. If they score first, lord save us. Fort Knox tactics then. If it's a draw into the second half, I'd expect them to bring on Carrasco and play slightly more attacking. If they're behind, they just push their lines up and start smothering us in the midfield as opposed to playing a compact back 1/3. There really isn't much mystery about how Atleti approach Madrid games. It's just that they are so freakin good at their style of player that it's always a 50/50 proposition.

If Atletico starts with Carrasco, that means they are going to press Real Madrid vehemently. If they start with Augusto, they are going to sit back obviously. The second scenario is more probable as it's always risky to press a team like Real Madrid with their counterattacking strength. In addition, the introduction of Carrasco in the second half would be more beneficial to them as he could cause a lot of problems to Real Madrid with his pace and dribbling.

Both teams look largely the same from 2 seasons ago. Saul may have improved on Raul Garcia but apart from that Jimenez is a step down from Miranda whereas the striker partnership is a tiny bit better know. We have improved considerably from Khedira. Having Casemiro there to match their physicality will be key. On the bench both teams have much better players than 2 years ago. Atleti can call on Carrasco or Correa if they need a goal and Thomas if they need midfield solidity. We have Isco to help carry the ball forward and disrupt their shape, and also Lucas Vasquez, Jese and James to sub in if we need goals. It is going to be a tough final. I was watching the game from 2 seasons ago after about the 70th minute we were so shite but persistance got us the goal. We may not have a player with balls like ADM to put in 70 failed crosses and keep putting them in, in the hope of one landing at the head of one of our attackers. Carvajal has improved significantly

It's completely understandable that a lot of people like Real Madrid to lose this game as they may support other rivals or other teams. It's true that Real Madrid had an easier job reaching the final and on the other hand, Atletico has eliminated two of the giants of the game but there is no easy game in Champions League and everything that has happened is part of the game. Bear in mind that, even Atletico could have been eliminated by PSV. My point is that, it's just plain stupid to say that Real Madrid didn't deserve to reach the final.
@CirdomAkul Atletico only struggle against PSV because of their exact same style of play. Atletico don't like to have the control on the ball. That's why against a offensive team like Real Madrid they should be very dangerous. That's my personal opinion. However, expect some real strong pressure in the first 15 minutes from the Atletico madrid players.

Some say this will be a dull game, a defensive one. However with Zidane and Simeone behind their respective bench I believe we will witness both teams playing their hearts out for their coaches. While everyone is keeping an eye out for the upcoming Euros, I believe in many ways for some players this will be a great chance to impress and make history. Perhaps a couple players have the chance to make an impression for the next Ballon d'Or should they perform well in the final as well as in the Euros. All eyes will be on Cristiano or Bale, but I expect Karim Benzema to step up this game and steal the show. His compatriot Griezmann will also be sure to his presence felt. With two great goalkeepers on both ends of the field, it will be interesting to see if both teams can keep yellows to a minimum. This final could easily go into extra-time. Psychological performance will be a major factor going into Saturday's game. Let's hope for a clean game, but let's face it, it's a derby after all!

@albgunn Atletico don't play defensively because of their players. It's the very opposite, Simeone himself has build this team and has chosen exactly type of players to play football he wants. It's their style that has brought them this far so it has worked extremely well. Of course they aren't able to keep the ball like other top sides but it's not like they have been forced to it, it's simply their own decision.

Rafa sucked the life out of us and left us like a soulless, hollow shell. So to be where we are today after all we've been through this season is nothing short of admirable.
@albgunn Atletico do play defensively against big teams but their average possession in the league is 48,7 so they often don't dominate against smaller clubs either. It's their tactics and they are not shame of it. They have many similarities with Leicester, sit back counter when opposition is out of balance. Even their clearances are often start of attack since they play the ball exactly where they have planned. They don't create lot though long attacks but why shouldn't they exploit weaknesses of opposition's defending? Two years ago Costa was taken off early which left Atletico helpless but it won't be a case here since they have even better decider in Griezmann who is fully fit. Atletico are better side now and they know exactly what they're going to do. Real have to be very careful in possession and at the same time find how to break Atletico's defense. Although if game goes extra time Atletico are in trouble.

@John_Wick Zidane has done great work so far by uniting Real and helping them to be defensively stronger without sacrificing attacking too much. But if this were down to managers Real wouldn't really stand a chance. Where Zidane is still learning to manage this kind of matches Simeone is already proven champion. There aren't many coaches in the same level as him, his motivating for these matches and training methods are pretty unique. But still this will be a great clash of two very characteristic managers!

Saul has really impressed me this season and given the fact he is only 21, he is one of brightest prospects in the world. He has almost every aspects in his game. Bale was showing how good he is before he got injured mid season. When Bale is in good form, he is one of the best players in the world and he's got tremendous attacking abilities. Benzema is very underrated in the world. He brings balance to RM attack by his tactical intelligence and unselfishness. On the other front, Torres looks to be resurrected. CR7 and Griezmann are both stars of their team in the attack and both can make the difference at any moment. In conclusion, Real Madrid might be better individually but to me Atletico Madrid is a complete team collectively. They show sacrifice, dedication and unity in every single game. Real Madrid has shown to be more like a united team under Zidane and I really hope they continue to do so. I see Real Madrid with a lot of potential to be much better than what they are now.
To me, Gabi is very underrated given the fact that how he contributes to ATM. Casemiro has shown that he was the missing puzzle for RM. Kroos has significantly improved since the arrival of Zidane as he couldn't play up to his potential in a CDM role. Augusto is great player who brings a little bit of everything to ATM. I see Modric as the best midfielder in the world and the most important player in RM. On the other hand, Koke has improved in the past 3 seasons and he contributes a lot to ATM's style of play.

For me, Oblak and Navas alongside with De gea are the three best goalkeepers this season. Carvajal has been the best RB in europe this season. He is excellent defensively and offensively. However, Juanfran has been really good as well but I see Carvajal a level a head of him. Filipe Luiz has been the best LB in europe this season. He is magnificent defensively though he's just as good offensively.On the other hand, Marcelo is the best LB in the world offensively but he is not as good defensively. Ramos And Godin are at the same level but Godin has been more consistent this season and is a true leader in their team. However, Ramos at his day is the best CB in the world and he's shown how vital he is to Real Madrid in important matches. I see Pepe a step ahead of Gimenez.

I think Casemiro has the potential to be man of the match in this game. I really expect him to sweep up anything getting past Modric and Kroos. If he does manage to do that, Real Madrid will have most of the posessions, most of the chances and the biggest possibility to be crowned.
@Turan Atleti are going to bully us down the middle and react wide. Super defensive setup. They'll counter attack whenever they can. If they score first, lord save us. Fort Knox tactics then. If it's a draw into the second half, I'd expect them to bring on Carrasco and play slightly more attacking. If they're behind, they just push their lines up and start smothering us in the midfield as opposed to playing a compact back 1/3. There really isn't much mystery about how Atleti approach Madrid games. It's just that they are so freakin good at their style of player that it's always a 50/50 proposition.

It's too bad we have two Spanish teams in the final, because they're just going to kick each mercilessly other for 90 mins. I guess that's why Clattenburg was chosen as a ref, it takes an awful lot for him to call a foul, much less pull out a yellow. As for reds, I don't think he even knows they exist. So these teams have basically been given a licence to kick each other as much as they want. Expect a typically ugly game.

Also it's top two teams can attract very best players in the world. Financial situation of smaller teams is worrying though as they are unable to keep their top players which decreases competition in the league. Atletico is going to give their all, but i think that if fully fit and ready, Real Madrid have more quality compared to Atletico. Real Madrid might have lost Di Maria who was running for 2, but have gained an exceptional goalkeeper in Navas, a very solid defensive midfielder in Casemiro and Kroos who will provide even more sure foot in a final that all legs will start shaking towards the end of the 90 mins. Real Madrid loose abit of creativity with Di Maria gone but gain better ball circulation, more accurate passes, more tranquility and solidity at the back, a good keeper in case of penalties and overall better defending. Atletico gain more speed in attack as Griezzmann and Carrassco's blistering pace might cause problems for Real Madrid but lose abit of D.Costa's Kung Fu that used to cause Real Madrid defender's nightmares.
