Team News
Stoke
Man City
- Stephen Ireland and Ibrahim Afellay are long-term absentees for the Potters and miss out.
- Jack Butland and Glen Johnson are both doubts for the home side and will be assessed closer to Saturday.
- The Potters, though, could be unchanged from the side that drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough, with Joe Allen starting on the bench.
- Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan are both sidelined through injury, while Samir Nasri is not expected to play again for Manchester City.
- Yaya Toure has also missed out on a starting spot in City's two competitive fixtures this term, while Leroy Sane won't be ready for another two weeks.
- Bacary Sagna has a slight problem but it doens't concern Guardiola. He could name the same starting XI that defeated Sunderland, which would see Joe Hart miss out once more.
Very happy with the very early signs of Pep's offensive philosophy taking place. Other teams should be scared because any fan worth their salt knows Aguero is a Top 5 CF in the world with a wonderful finishing touch. With that being said, Aguero has blown several scoring chances thus far this season. So while there are early signs for him of lots of opportunities for a successful campaign, it also shows that the team is just knowing starting to understand more of the complexities that come into play with Guardiola's philosophy for the team. I am also very pleased with the early signs of Raheem Sterlings career under Pep. Gotta go smoke a joint brb.
The PL is so soft. The refs, that is.
What a penalty he gave to stoke though, unbelievable. Sterling barely touched him!
I think Stoke played pretty well. They showed character after conceding two quite easy goals and they surely can't be blamed if conceding last two while chasing a late goal. Shaqiri was missed and arnautovic was nowhere nere 100% fit. Imbula must do better though, that expensive signing must take team forward. And last season Stoke scored just over 40 goals, they should try to bring in consistent striker to easy the pressure of their attacking players. City are improving but score line doesn't tell the whole truth, at times Stoke looked like getting them real trouble.
Both teams with 4-3-3 formation. I don't think so... Where does this come from?
@fysikos Man City's formation was hard to tell, but I think we played a 4-3-3, although KDB was playing like a shadow striker and Sterling like a supporting striker.
We actually used a 4-2-3-1, and Stoke used a 4-1-4-1
Same old, same old inconsistent refereeing here. Yesterday Shaw basically kicked his own foot after small touch by Clasie and it was a straight penalty. Now Kolarov makes clumsy challenge on the box and no penalty. I'm not complaining about City's penalty, Dean saw it well and Shawcross was tearing Otamendi down. But latter challenge was a clear penalty too, how on Earth referees fail give penalties against big clubs time after time?!
@Castle Ha ha, just after I said that! And that was not a penalty, it was clearly a pay back from Kolarov's tackle. Dean probably watched that challenge in half time.
Uh-oh! Aguero looks kinda on fire... :-D
It's going to be a Mourinho vs Guardiola war again. Nothing too surprising.
Possibly draw, or Man City wins with one goal in the final minutes.
A draw best man city can get
@felix254 You probably mean the best Stoke can get. But this should be harder match for Man City than Sunderland.
1-2 close game here
I think both Manchester clubs along with Arsenal will come our with odd results this weekend!
0-2
City won't edge victory here, they will win very well
1-1
