Damn, I got a score correct. :-o . This game went exactly how I expected it to and I'm not sure how anybody believes Burnley deserve anything out of the game. I'm not one of these naïve purist supporters who believes every team should try to play football, even if they don't have the players who can do so, but I don't think teams should settle for a draw AT HOME from the off. Whether it was a lucky goal or not, it's irrelevant. All that matters is the team that deserves to win, does. That is fairness. I think this was a game where we needed a tall #9 and that would've made it easier for us. Shame Giroud wasn't fit although Sanchez played well. Oezil was poor although he was left with nobody to pass to on a number of occasions. Not much else you can say. We deserved to win sorry but that's the truth.
Oh come on... A totally undeserved win with an offside handball goal in overtime :-D
@BeautifulLoser WATCH THE GOAL before you call it offside. BOYD PLAYED THEM ONSIDE. It was not totally undeserved Arsenal kept on attacking and created better chances.
@gunner162 It is an offside goal AND it is a handball goal. Neither of them would be deserved because offsides and handballs are FOUL play. You remember that concept, FOUL PLAY? Obviously Arsenal kept on attacking and created better chances. They are supposed to do so because they are the richer and better team with more individual quality. Would be a scandal if they wouldn't dominate matches against Burnley. That said: I have sympathies for Arsenal and I am glad they got these important points but today's mindset was a shame.
@BeautifulLoser- It wasn't an intentional hand-ball so it's in effect not a hand-ball. You don't get penalties for balls which hit the hand from passes that close when there isn't intent so why should a goal be disallowed?
@BeautifulLoser (1) Not offside, (2) Not undeserved, just look at the shots, and (3) Is Arsenal the only team that's not allowed to score lucky goals that should have been disallowed?
@What4 Again, for your breed of analphabets: (A) Offside. (B) Handball. (C) FOUL = UNDESERVED. Got it? What's the number of shots got to do with the outcome of a match? Is there a new secret rule that allows you to convert a determinate number of shots in a goal? Your third point is absolutely hilarious: I can hear you whining betwenn the lines :-D
@What4 it's a not lucky goal, it's a handball
arsenal need the full3 points or else.
I would like to sue Arsenal for this.
@BeautifulLoser Never bet before an International break. The body might be present but the mind is on holiday. Very risky!
@Red_Card In the case of Arsenal it is an unbelievable act of stupidity to give such a spineless performance. They could have 16 points.
@BeautifulLoser compare the stats above before you speak.
@gunner162 Yeah, I compared the stats and guess what: I also watched the match. Stats tell the story of one team sitting back and the other team trying to do something against it. For those interested in *reality*, Arsenal underperformed *massively*. Their approach was sloppy and lazy.
Until now (35') Arsenal are approaching this match in their well-known holiday mood... This will end badly.
1-1.
Lucas did not even make the bench? Come on Arsene.
@Valor slight knee problem was reported.
will be more open Arsenal 2-1
0 ~ 2 Arsenal
just for today...ARSENAL WILL DO IT FOR THEIR MANAGER 0-4
1-3 Alexis and Iwobi to score.
Congratulations on 20 years to the boss! The best 20 year period of our history. Long may it continue!
Always tough at Burnley. As we saw against Liverpool, they don't mind sitting back and defending for the whole game. We seem to be more clinical this season compared to previous ones. Whether that's true statistically or it's just we're taking chances when we need to take them, I'm not sure, but I don't see the number of important wasted chances as I did last season in particular. I fancy us to win but only marginally. I will say 1-0.
But I do expect a walkover on Sunday
i think Wenger will stick with the same starting XI, but would be nice to see Lucas starting. I'm just loving Sanchez in the centre forward role. He will get a goal in this match. Arsenal to win. 1-3.
@Valor- Yep he rarely changes a winning team. I'm hoping the Sanchez experiment works. I doubt it will against the top teams and I think we'll need a typical #9 for those but considering Utd fans were noshing off Zlatan when he first arrived, I'll give a comparison between he and Alexis in the relevant stats (Sanchez first). Goals: 4 - 4; Shots per Goal: 4.25 - 8 (!); Chances Created: 10 - 7; Pass Completion: 81.9% - 74%.
@SteveHyland That's right, Chelsea isn't a top team.
@What4- In all honesty, Burnley and Ludogorets will be bigger tests defensively. The Spurs - Man Utd - PSG section of games will be the true test of Alexis' ability in the 9. It will solve so many problems if it works with him there. His understanding with Walcott and Iwobi, and indeed theirs with him (and each other), seems natural. If somebody vacates his position, one of the other players fills it. I've seen all 3 players in all 3 positions across the front line in the matches they've started together this season. Hope that continues because it causes nightmares for defences not knowing who to cover, how deep to play, when to engage etc.
Arsenal for the first time in many years have obviously the usual list of injuries but have now a large squad and still so much quality there fighting for a spot!
@albgunn I just don't see Pep stuttering at City.
@6seconds There you go. Spurs 2 City 0. Welcome to the EPL Pep. You can have it that easy
@6seconds- Like drawing 3-3 with a team they should've beat 5-0? I think City will have a period of dropped points and we'll see if Pep is truly a great manager or a manager who has always inherited truly great teams.

Wow,i will say am delighted with Arsenal's performance in the last five games in all competitions.From Alexis to Walcot to Iwobi not forgeting master class Ozil,all guys seem on form and am enjoying the football from yhe Gunners.Am starting to like Walcot's defensive work rate..I see Iwobi as MOTM,that kid always impresses against underdogs like Burnely..Arsenal win the game with a 0-3 finalsocre for me.
The defense of #AFC is beginning to assert itself. There now seem a competition among players to impress and make a case for first team shirt. Same w/the goalkeeping and midfield sectors. That's healthy because players begin to concentrate on their own strength and concentrate on the specific game rather than the pedigree (weak or strong) of the opponent. This will be a delightful contest to watch: Burnley won't create the impression they're scared of the team that beat CFC convincingly; and AFC won't want see their Premier League momentum dented. Will be tactical and full of decisive clearances. I predict 4-1 to the Gunners with two late goals one from each side. Mesut may pick the MOTM. Walcott a likely candidate too.
@ElikaPark Yes, Mustafi has slotted in seamlessly, and has a good understanding with the other defenders already! Very impressive for a defensive player.
@What4- Doesn't mess around in the tackle either. Something I've liked about him since his Sampdoria days. He either doesn't commit or he fully commits. It's the in-between mind-set which can cause problems for defenders and we don't get any of that with Shkodran.
