6 chances created and just 4 shots on target for City, including a penalty, equals 4 goals. You know the opposition defended appallingly when that happens. I still think the current top 4 will finish as the top 4, their attack is the 5th best and their defence is the 5th best of the current top 5, so I don't see how that could change. Missing out on the champions league (I highly doubt they'll win it this season) could make them firm favourites for next year's title when you factor in the copious amounts of money Pep will spend.
@abhi8- For sure, City could've scored more. My point was more how West Ham conceded from every shot on target and that City didn't need to produce anything out of the ordinary to destroy them. I wonder whether Pep might regret not going all out to score 6-7 goals. Come the end of the season, goal difference may determine 4th and 5th places.
Why is there actually so much extra time in the PL ? Basically every game lasts 95-97minutes, again tonight for no reason. Never you see a game end after 90 minutes like in other leagues. In the Bundesliga many games will be whistled off after 90,most after 91,92 and hardly ever a game lasts more than 90+3 minutes ...
@neumi17- 30 seconds for every substitution equals 3 minutes in this game, since all of them happened in the 2nd half. Plus a minute for Toure's goal scored equals 4 minutes total. That is the minimum amount of stoppage time to be added on. If the ref feels time was being wasted then he can add to that. 5 minutes seemed about right in this game imho.
@SteveHyland Your opinion reflects exactly what I mean ! I was watching the game on a german channel and all the commentators and special guests were clueless where the 5 extra minutes were coming from . And you just explained why ... The understanding in Germany is that substitutions, penalties being scored and such are ALL normal things and belong to the game. No stoppage time needed for those. Only if their was a delay like an injured player or other extraordinary things refs are supposed to add some time. But goals and substitutions just belong to a football game and no extra time needs to be added for those...
@neumi17- I've often thought subs weren't taken into account in Germany. The idea of adding on time for substitutions was to prevent teams from making subs to waste time, for example if it was 2-1 with a minute to go and the losing team are looking dangerous, the winning team could make 3 subs each taking 30 seconds to a minute long in order to eat up the time and prevent the losing team from getting a chance to score. I prefer the English version simply because it takes underhand tactics out of the equation. Mourinho in particular would exploit that rule. You will have noticed the referee ushering players off if they have been subbed and are walking too slow, same reason. It has been the case since I've been watching football. In Europe it tends to be like the English rules not German unless of course it's in Munich and Bayern are winning by a goal. :-p
@SteveHyland Technically you are right and late substitutions are taken in considerations in Germany as well but not to the extent as in England. If there are 3 subs in the 87-90th minute the ref will put on some stoppage time too but not the exact amount the changes took. You hardly ever see a game lasting longer than 93 minutes therefore. Don`t know what is the better system ...
City will try to go all out for this one to catch up with the top 4 with Liverpool,, Chelsea and Spurs getting draws and Arsenal losing at home to Watford. If they don't, United will catch up to them. West Ham won't make it easy for them though. When they are up to the challenge, they can upset big teams (Liverpool, Chelsea and United) With Payet gone, their attacking form will most likely drop, and I predict they will want to be more defensive minded here. A point from City will be good enough, so they will most likely play for a draw, which might also prove to be a feat.
Sane has scored in each of his last three games. For some strange reason whoscored hasn`t mentioned that anywhere. So I think he will be in the starting 11 for shure ...
Although WHU took a financial hit on the sale of Payet, it was imperative they turfed him out of the club. His reasons for wanting to leave are understandable (and unlike a few who have used the "family" reason in the past, genuine- as is evident by his significant wage drop), his behaviour has been highly unprofessional. I'm sure he would've got his move had he gone about matters in a different way, Bilic seems the most humane of football managers. It leaves the Hammers with little time to bring in a replacement but his transfer could prove to be a catalyst. Payet created 32% of West Ham's chances, almost 10% more than any single player from a team who have created 200+ (Alexis is 2nd with 22.7%). I have always thought he was relied on too heavily, now without him it could mean they all step up to fill the void. It could also mean he was simply the only good creator in the team and now they will go on a run of losses. We shall see. I'll predict 2-1 City hoping I'm wrong.
@eastend1- A financial hit relative to his market worth, which is circa £40m since the Euros, and the reported total is £25m not £30m. The West Ham board were claiming he was worth £50-60m in the summer. That is too much but he is certainly worth more than £25m.
hammers hammered twice awesome
Jesus is the real deal!
@Overmars I thought Sane was much better... He was the main thread in the first half, fantastic dribbles and initiator of two goals ...
@neumi17 * threat ;-)

@SteveHyland They went slow in second half .... no need racing in if you are 3-0 up.

Some serious hammering happened here...

@SteveHyland West Ham haven't 'relied' on Payet since May last year.
@eastend1- 32% of all chances created suggests otherwise.
@SteveHyland A financial hit? He cost £14 mill and has gone back to France for £30 mill.
@eastend1- A financial hit relative to his market worth, which is circa £40m since the Euros, and the reported total is £25m not £30m. The West Ham board were claiming he was worth £50-60m in the summer. That is too much but he is certainly worth more than £25m.
Over 2.5 goals here
more goals here 3+ and win for city
Is it possible to bet against 0-0?
@MEHJones lay option in betfair
West Ham 2 - 3 Man City
West Ham 1-3 Man City
Westham 1-3 Man City
I'm imagine a big open game City have to win. 3-2 City.
