Another terrible performance. Our game-plan is now "give it to Sanchez and hope he produces some magic". That wouldn't work if it were Pele in Alexis' place. Really shows the general ineptitude around the club atm. Townsend dived and I am all for retrospective action being given to those who dive but it didn't change the result. Palace on the other hand were very good. They are playing for their manager and each other, defended well, counter attacked sharply and created chances from limited possession. Our poor defending and lack of invention I attack didn't help. The dive aside, Townsend was very good, ditto for Zaha. Neither are consistent but when they're at their best, they are dangerous. Their fans are also among the best in the league, I'd like to hear what 60,000 of them would sound like. Dortmund-level in all likelihood. I would like to say Wenger's job is untenable (which at any other club would be true) but it would still leave the Kroenkes, our board and Gazidis at the club
@SteveHyland Zaha is a nailed on cheat, so is Townsend and most of Palace's team. They were a disgrace at St Mary's. Zaha dived blatantly on three different occasions at St Mary's resulting in the ref waiving play on, it's ridiculous referees don't book more players for blatant diving.
@Ideas- I don't disagree. There's just no incentive for them to stop diving if the worst punishment they receive is a yellow card in the game. Video footage should be used for penalty incidents and any free kick which leads to a goal, that will wipe out the errors 'in the moment' (and some are tough because Townsend's tonight did look a penalty in real time). For all other incidents, it should be reviewed by a panel after the match and action taken. I would give red cards as a minimum, probably up it to 3 match bans. That will cut the number of dives down if not stop it altogether.
@SteveHyland It's only a matter of time before the governing bodies see sense and officials make better use of video technology. Yes, some mistakes will get through but you don't refuse a spare parachute because it might occasionally fail too. Once players realise that they are less likely to get away with it - they will do it less often.
HA ha ha. Wonder what Arsenal fans are going to enjoy more? Thursday night football with other nobodies, or the end of St. Totteringham's Day. I'd say get used to both lol.
@dbird777- End of St. Totterinham's Day for just one season in all likelihood. I really hope their fans don't get too cocky given this is the best they have been in the premier league era yet it is still not good enough to win them a title. Arsenal fans are annoyed because we aren't contesting titles. Spurs fans are happy because they're going to finish above us for the first time in 22 years (or to put it another way- when Wenger was still the Monaco manager and when Pochettino was only 22). That shows the respective expectations for the sets of fans. St. Totteringham's Day will be celebrated next spring as usual.
@SteveHyland Your posts are of the highest quality and I frequently find it hard to disagree regardless of whether it fits what I like or want to happen. However, if you've implying that Spurs are just happy to finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years whereas Arsenal fans only care about not competing for the league title then you are incorrect on this occasion. Remember the celebrations last year at the Emirates on the final day of the season when the Arsenal fans learned that Newcastle had thrashed Spurs. Moreover, St. Totterinham's Day was set up, managed, and maintained by an Arsenal fan during a period when Arsenal were regularly winning silverware. Tottenham fans have lots to be happy about, not just the possibility of finishing above Arsenal. I am tempted to list them all here but this page is about the Palace vs Arsenal match, not Spurs, and you must be unhappy enough right now.
why is everyone acting like its the end of the world, arsenal is only 7 points away from 4th place. its not like their goal is winning a title after all, not with that squad and that coach. why are the arsenal fans even mad, arsenal fans have always been fancy of a coach that is known for winning 1 title like 13 years ago. nothing has chance, its the same team, the same results. only difference this year is that EVERYONE is getting better.
Townsend definitely dived for that penalty, btw. And I don't give Palace any credit for scoring the other two, actually, it was more Arsenal being utter rubbish, so in a way my prediction below is correct, thank you very much.
@neumi17 The rating on this comment is really interesting. I know that sarcasm doesn't always read well in a comments section, but this is obviously sarcasm from neumi. Judging by the comment above (mocking Wenger) being the exactly reverse rating it shows the level of stupidity on here. I regularly see sensible predictions down voted, but this takes the ultimate biscuit for me. Neumi isn't even English, I believe he's German. He's making an obvious sarcastic joke here. Can't believe how dumb some of you are on this place. Hhhhhhhhhh. Upvoting you neumi, this is your 2nd thumbs up
It pisses me off watching Sakho play so well for Palace. I understand that Klopp can't tolerate his behavior, but we really could have used him this year.
Why is everyone expecting Palace to score? Other than a Benteke header, I really can't see that happening. Interested to see how Martinez does against him.
Key Stats Crystal Palace have just two wins in 33 top- flight matches against Arsenal (D9, L22). The Eagles have scored six goals in their last 12 league games against the Gunners. Arsene Wenger has never lost to Palace in the Premier League (W8, D3). Sam Allardyce has lost nine of his last 10 Premier League games against Arsene Wenger. Arsenal have only won two of their last seven league matches (D1, L4). The Gunners will equal a club Premier League record of four consecutive away defeats if they lose. They currently have 54 points, which is two more than at the same stage last season. Olivier Giroud has scored five goals as a substitute in the top flight this season, more than any other player. He has also scored in his last three Premier League games at Selhurst Park. Betting Odds Favourable Bets: 1. Both Team to Score – YES @ 1.61 2. Crystal Palace Asian Handicap + 0.5,1.0 @
1.870 3. Over 10.5 Corners @ 2.00
Crystal Palace win @ 4.50
CORRECT SCORE Crystal Palace 1-1 Arsenal
Although Arsenal haven't won away at against any of the current top 9 this season, they have won most of their other away games including 4-1 against Hull and Sunderland, 4-0 against Swansea, 5-1 against West Ham. Also Palace are not great at home. They don't score many goals at home: 15 in 14 games with 5 of those from set pieces. Although they are 8th in the table if we only count away results they are a lowly 18th if we only count home results. The only team from the top 6 that Palace have taken points from is Chelsea and that was away from home. Injuries to Cabaye, Benteke, Tomkins, make their chances of getting something from this game even smaller. They are likely to concede towards the end of the 1st and 2nd half.
Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Arsenal.
What a game. well done palace
Wenger must be too selfish to stay and see Arsenal drowned. He is no longer a good tactician. he's run out of ideas and creativity

@SteveHyland The game I'm referring to is the 3-1 loss Palace had last time out against Southampton.

@MEHJones Yeah yeah, we'll send you spuds a "Finished above Arsenal" trophy in the mail.
@What4 You can keep it. Not interested.
@dbird777 sounds harsh but looks inevitable
Look at the match report. No strengths for Arsenal.
@Ideas 84% pass accuracy is actually very good.
Unbelievable Jeff

@What4 In a way, your prediction was completely wrong
@What4 stop embarrassing yourself more than you already have...
@DelJuve Facts can not embarras anyone.
Arsenal are a shambles

@Ideas I suspect that some overly sensitive people don't appreciate their team's players being criticised even when those players deserve it.
total meltdown

@What4 Biggest fail ever. You Arsenal fans are the most delusional and dislikable.

Zaha vs Alexis match
@A.r.m.e.n Zaha wins hands down. Whoever downvoted neumi is a pussy liar.
@A.r.m.e.n Zaha clear winner in teams of dribbles and assist.

@MEHJones and so did Benteke!
@MEHJones So Cabaye did play afterall!
1-2
Palace 2-1
both teams will score
Crystal Palace 0 - 1 Arsenal
Tough match - I think it will be tight with Palace relying on creativity on the wings and in behind vs Arsenal.
