@Froce- But Milner had 5. Otamendi also only won 1 extra aerial duel. Granted he spent considerably more time with the ball and had a much higher pass completion percentage, but Milner actually scored, had a dribble (which are always weighed too heavily on here) and a key pass- 2 of which can be determined to have a bigger impact in the game (goal, KP). Their ratings to 2 decimal points were Otamendi 7.44 and Milner 7.66. There doesn't seem a big enough disparity in the less important stats in Otamendi's favour to warrant his rating being that close to Milner's, and I'm not Milner's biggest fan by any means. Irrespective of whether a W.S rating reflects a player's performance, purely based on stats it seems too high when using Milner's as the bench mark.
@SteveHyland otamendi had 6 tackles, 2 interceptions, 8 clearances and 4 aerials won. 92 percent passing. If anything he should be rated higher, not lower.
Aguero should've won this for City but overall I think a draw is the correct result. Milner's penalty taking is excellent. 7 from 7 in the league this season. Compare that to 6 from 7 by the penalty king Ronaldo. Milner seems to turn up in big matches though.
Apart from that penalty and Sagna's questionable decision-making, the City defence was rock solid. Caballero was impressive as always, Stones was a f*cking monster intercepting those crucial passes and Otamendi + Fernandinho were excellent. Agüero's finishing got us leveled, but it cost us 2 points in the end. Breath-taking, exhilarating game with both team strong on the offensive part of the game.
@CirdomAkul Maybe you and I were watching different seasons, this is easily John Stones best defensive performance and he excelled together with Otamendi. Our back 4 has gotten a lot of slack due to their porous features, but today the were brilliant. Games where City's defence was lacking (in particular) was Leicester (4-2 loss), Everton (4-0 loss), Monaco (3-1 loss). They responded perfectly to their elimination in the Champions League, where they defended horribly. Today, Stones intercepted and blocked at vital moments in the game (for example when Mané was clear to goal in the 18-yard box, or where a second Liverpool goal was imminent). Otamendi prevailed as well, only let down by his pace. Clichy was the only one who made a really bad mistake and even he was solid down the wing covering Mané perfectly. Inexplicably, both defenses aren't as good as they can be - but you would know as a City fan when the defence is good or bad. What is your take on the game?
Everyone seems sure of a City win, are they just disregarding all the signs that Liverpool are favorites? Historically destroyed City and great record against top 6, plus some key players like Lovren coming back and Firmino getting back in form. Mane will absolutely obliterate the left side of City's defense and neither Otamendi nor Stones are good enough CBs to contain Firmino and if he's on form, Coutinho. Wijnaldum, Lallana, and Emre Can need big games today however.
I am a Liverpool fan and sad to say Klopp won't win the League for us. City played to lose in the CL game against Monaco especially in the first half. maybe because Barca had taken the place of PSG. City will come back to their normal self to beat us. City 3 Liverpool 1.
@Flyer Do you honestly think that this is the finished product? Klopp has only had one summer window to change up the squad. At Dortmund it took him about 4-5 years to win the league. Be patient. The simple truth is that we're a formally big club looking to reclaim our place, and we're certainly no where near realistic title challengers yet, regardless of manager. Give him 3 more seasons, if it's not working out, then maybe a younger coach, ideally Julian Nagelsmann, can come in, or Gerrard, etc. But still, give it time.
Man City looked fairly clueless against Monaco in the second leg, admittedly a very good side though. Liverpool have been lollygagging about with nothing but the league left for them to look forward to. Therefore, Liverpool to win by 1 or 2 goals.
Liverpool is not even close to Monaco.
wonder why City didn`t play with that kind of dedication in Monaco.
Oliver presented a point for MC. poor reffereing
7.4 for Otamendi. Why?
@SteveHyland 6 tackles

City drew because of Aguero.... Come on man
We must be all thankful to Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp for this crazy game.
Perfection from De Bruyne.
Stones 5.7? did i watch a different first half? and that was never a penalty
Think Liverpool can capitalise on City´s defeat midweek
