Puel didn't show Chelsea enough respect with this line up and paid the price. Surprised he didn't go for a better defensive structure and two wingers that can provide good defensive contribution. He could have played a deep defensive structure and brought on Long's pace in game if things were tight . Credit to Chelsea though. Very good all round side
#AngelMiley says: Despite having the psychological advantage of playing before Spurs, Conte believes that it is
the side currently sat second in the table that
are better off this week as they have an extra
day's rest. The Blues head into their latest
league outing without a clean sheet in any of their last 10 - their worst run since December
1996 - and hardly boast the most impressive
of recent home records against the Saints, so
supporters will be grateful to snatch any sort of win. Chelsea v Southampton 2-1
I want to make a comment on the preview template. If Boufal starts I will be truly amazed. He has been abysmally bad recently. And when he has been brought on he makes the side worse in attack and defence. Saints have also played 4-2-3-1 system recently and not 4-3-3. 4-2-3-1 system with Ward-Prowse AMR, Tadic AMC and Redmond AML is likely at the expense of Boufal. If Puel does decide to play a 4-3-3/4-5-1 system (which he used at times earlier in the season and during the cup run. But it's unlikely he will revert back to it with Saints having played much better football with 4-2-3-1) then it is likely that we will see Clasie or Hojbjerg starting in place of Boufal with Ward-Prowse out wide right, Redmond left. I think 4-2-3-1 is likely. An alternative is to attempt a back three system with Caceres getting his first start, but I feel it's unlikely he will go down that route although no outside the realms of possibility. Cahill will be ok to start for Chelsea over Ake I think.
@Yes Don't start sentences with 'and'; missing some articles before the system numbers; two sentences in parentheses should be together; missing the word 'that' between 'unlikely' and 'he will'; comma between 'route' and 'although'.
@Yes At the expense of Boufal in your template I mean. Boufal hasn't started a game since the 4th of February and he has done nothing to warrant a start here having made zero (or a negative) impact from the bench. The side Saints used against Man City with Romeu (who was suspended for that game) coming in for Hojbjerg is most likely, but there are alternatives as mentioned above.
Poor Willian, he worth much more than sitting on the bench

Conte will find a way to get it done.

Chelsea has the pressure not to be overtaken by Tottenham and that's reason enough not to lose.
@Asunadee i like your reasoning. This is a must win game for CHELSEA coz of SPURS pressure.
I don't see Saints getting anything from this fixture even if they play well.
2-3

@WSGrammarCorrection There's no error in starting a sentence with a conjunction, WSGrammarCorrection. A made up rule. Look it up.
