Team News
Liverpool
Southampton
- Adam Lallana is in line to make his first start for Liverpool since March after coming off the bench in the 1-0 win over Watford following a long spell out injured.
- Philippe Coutinho suffered a dead leg against Watford and should feature against Swansea, although perhaps only from the bench.
- Daniel Sturridge will also be looking for a recall to the starting XI in place of Divock Origi, who hasn't scored since in over a month.
- Charlie Austin and Matt Targett should be closing in one first-team returns following long spells out on the sidelines.
- James Ward-Prowse was an usused substitute in the 0-0 draw against Hull and should come into contention on Sunday.
Thing I have learned from this premier league seaon liverpool without mane struggle, crystal palace without sakho struggle, sunderland and swansea without defoe and llorente struggle and man city without david silva struggle.
@RemyLebeu man city always struggled without David. This season also showed they struggled without their captain.
The last time that James Milner failed to convert a penalty in the Premier league it was when he was playing for Villa and he was up against Bolton's Kisso Jaaskelainen in 2009!
@MEHJones - Cool info, although he was called Jussi.
First goal Coutinho and Liverpool win 3-1.
liverpool is very wierd team....they win the hard matches and they cant win the easy matches thats a mysterious thing of this club and the match today is not easy & not hard ..so u do the math and predict ..cuz i give up on liverpool prediction matches
@delpiero1100 Its not mysterious at all. Against the good teams Klopp's football works because he has space for counterpressing and counter attacks. Against the small teams that only want to defend well Klopp's football lacks creativity to break down tide defense walls. Already happened in Dortmund as well...
Coutinho is the man of this match.
1 - 1 HTFT(1/X)
BTS, 2-2
I think liverpool can nick one here with a goal and with lallana back it will boost their attack. leiva or emre can to score.
@RemyLebeu Leiva can score own goal, agree
2-0
liverpool or draw
0-1 to saints.
@WazzaFC Fat chance
@sarigginsUSA If saints turn up they will win the game but they have nothing to play for.
Southampton now have nothing to play for. I sense a Liverpool victory here. Of course Southampton's players may feel that they have a point to prove against Liverpool even in what is effectively a dead rubber for Southampton. Liverpool have stolen many Southampton players and perhaps Southampton's players will be desperate to give their own fans bragging rights. Which Southampton will turn up? We have seen in the league cup Southampton hold out for a clean sheet at a Anfield. The chances of that happening here are close to zero, but not outside the realms of possibility. Liverpool win by one goal is my prediction.
Liverpool 1 - 0 Saints
