- Pamplona born Javi Gracia is FC Rubin Kazan new head coach after leading Málaga CF to 8th place in La Liga last season.
- The Tatarstan outfit have signed several top quality players this summer, including Maxime Lestienne, Spanish midfielders Rubén Rochina and Samu, Peruvian defender Carlos Zambrano and talented Russian youngsters Rifat Zhemaletdinov and Georgi Makhatadze.
- Team captain Oleg Kuzmin is still recovering from injury and will most certainly miss Monday’s match against FC Amkar.
- FC Amkar pulled off some excellent performances in pre-season and hammered Karmiotissa FC from Cyprus by 7-1 last time out.
- The Perm based team have lost several important players this summer including captain Dmitri Belorukov, who joined FC Dynamo Moscow, and Bogdan Butko, who returned to FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
- Among the new arrivals, on the other hand, are Croatian Darko Bodul and Serbian defender Aleksandar Milijkovic, who represented RNK Split last term.
