- Full-back Adam Matthews could be out for up to a month with a hamstring injury, but Joe Bryan is set to be fit despite missing the last two matches with a groin problem.
- Scott Golbourne is on stand-by to cover for Bryan at left-back, while England Under-19 defender Taylor Moore could feature in the squad after signing from Lens.
- Second-choice goalkeeper Frank Fielding is fit again after ankle surgery but Korey Smith and Zak Vyner will not be available until after the international break.
- Aston Villa are set to give debuts to midfielder Mile Jedinak, who was not registered in time to face Derby last Saturday, and right-back Ritchie De Laet, signed from Leicester.
- Midfielder Aaron Tshibola and striker Rudy Gestede are both ruled out, while left-back Joe Bennett is carrying a minor calf problem.
- Gary Gardner or Ashley Westwood will compete for a spot alongside Jedinak, while Jordan Ayew is likely to move up front, with Leandro Bacuna and Andre Green options at right midfield.
