How much do they pay this manager of repeated disasters. He has a very talented players but couldn't find the right tactic the best formation and the optimum dynamism.
Looking at the positives, the silver lining of the eternal black cloud which is England tournament football, this result, much like Brexit, will provide short-term pain for long-term gain. Had we gone through and lost to France or even beaten France (since they look poor atm as well) then lost to Germany or Italy, there wouldn't be an outcry because it would be respectable to lose to either 3 of those teams. Losing to Iceland, however, SHOULD result in an autopsy of how the national team works and how football exists in this country from grass roots football all the way through the under-age groups. We can't just employ a manager without doing any ground work beneath him because come the 2018 world cup in Russia (or wherever it's held), we know what will happen to us before a ball is even kicked in anger.
@SteveHyland I agree, this exit should lead to something good and a learning process like we had to go through 15 years ago. But I am not shure if England is willing to learn...
Disgusting performance. While I hope this will last long in their memories, I'm sure I'm correct in assuming for a lot of them it will only last the summer. I can't remember seeing such a shambolic performance in a tournament game. People will mention the world cup but Italy and Uruguay weren't bad teams- Iceland are. They've survived this long on team spirit and defending in numbers, I would've expected us to have too much for them. That doesn't excuse failing to go with runners (Dier, Walker), failing to correctly mark danger men at set plays (Cahill), failing to actually engage the attackers when they're in the danger areas (the whole defence) and goalkeeping errors (Hart, again). People will also mention Hodgson's failure to develop a set system or get us playing dynamic football in the final third but you shouldn't need to teach international footballers how to play. All of these play in clubs which play good football but come international time, they forget how to play. Pathetic.
Close your mouth, Harry Kane, close your mouth! (Clap, Clap!) Close your mouth, Harry Kane, close your mouth (Clap, Clap!) Close your mouth, Harry Kane, Close your mouth, Harry Kane, Close your mouth, Harry Kane, CLOSE YOUR MOUTH (CLAP, CLAP!!)
Skúlason, Halldórsson, Sigurðsson, Sigurðsson, Árnason, Sigþórsson, Sævarsson, Böðvarsson, Guðmundsson, Bjarnason, Bjarnason, Gunnarsson and Traustason.
All of them led by Hodgson.
Does anyone know where to get stats on distance covered? Work rates? Just running data for a match or particular set of matches? I would like it if whoscored had it but it seems that they do not.
Last 50 years England has won as many titles as Island. Unbelievable how the english defense just doesn't press or go aggressive towards the Islandic players but just let them do their thing and watch...
England will win by 2 clear goals exactly, 100%, 2-0 or 3-1 here. They will play better than in group stage as their coach now knows who and where should be used and they don't want any room for Russia -type equaliser here.
rating is a reall joke. Kane 7.5???
Ragnar Sigurdsson was insane this game. That tackle on Vardy... delicious

@sampo He only got 9 million a year. What do you expect for that money...

The real BREXIT
What's the point of Sterling?
To put it into a perspective. It's like national team of England losing to a team of City of Wakefield.
Close your mouth, Harry Kane, close your mouth! (Clap, Clap!) Close your mouth, Harry Kane, close your mouth (Clap, Clap!) Close your mouth, Harry Kane, Close your mouth, Harry Kane, Close your mouth, Harry Kane, CLOSE YOUR MOUTH (CLAP, CLAP!!)

BREXIT, next time will play in CAF!
Ingerland scored another brexit HAHA! well done Ísland!

Yes, yes, YES!!! Come on Iceland!!!
Does anyone know where to get stats on distance covered? Work rates? Just running data for a match or particular set of matches? I would like it if whoscored had it but it seems that they do not.
NOW can Hodgson go home?
That date will be remembered as the night of shame for a long time. Poor guys...
@neumi17 Yeah, night of shame. They let England score one.
Astonishing.
Roy is a w****r
Another brexit on the cards...
Finally it is Vaedy time. Why not open with him?

Now you see Portugal came from a strong group heheheh :P
@hellreaper yea right, where the groupwinner gets thrashed by 4-0
@taktiko It was joking but yeah, talking about Hungary x Belgium, did you watched the game or just saw the final score on a website? :D
@hellreaper I watched the game, it was really entertaining.
@hellreaper only watched final score.
use 3-5-2 like italy :p
Ha,ha, Neuer would have stopped that Ball with his heel and than had made a 30 yard pass to Özil.
@neumi17 no no, with his middle finger
No one can stop Iceland's march to the final

all clear
2:0, Rooney MoM
2:1 in England's favor I'd say. Iceland have shown great character, while England was pretty "meh" considering the players they have.
10 July, the Vikings sack Paris. You heard it here first. #ITK.
England 2:0, Hurricane MotM
England to win!!!. Not easy, but 1:0
