Team News

  • Sevilla are able to switch between a variety of formations so it remains to be seen what system Jorge Sampaoli goes for against Leicester on Wednesday.
  • Vicente Iborra was suspended for Sevilla's 2-0 win over Eibar at the weekend but is available to return here. Nico Pareja missed the match through injury and remains a doubt here, with Clement Lenglet ready to deputise in his absence if required.
  • Islam Slimani has failed to recover from a groin injury and hasn't made the trip with his Leicester teammates.
  • Robert Huth will be suspended for the home leg of this tie if booked on Wednesday.

  • Sevilla are unbeaten in each of their last seven home matches and have only lost to Barcelona and Juventus on their own turf this season. They are underdogs in the competition and could really put Leicester to the sword here over two legs.
  • Leicester's season went from bad to worse at the weekend after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by the 10 men of League One outfit Millwall. They have only won two games in 2017 and have only found the back of the net in three of their 10 matches this calender year.

  • /* faceplam */ leicester might qualify with their poor play and we can see juve vs leicester wtf sevilla

  • Schmeichel prevented this from being a 7-1 but that doesn't matter. Nobody goes through based on what could/should have happened. The fact is Leicester now have a great chance to progress, which nobody thought possible before the game and even fewer did during. The formation above is incorrect. This was a 4-4-2 (which they play pretty much every game). I think they will need to adopt a 3-man midfield in the return leg. They were chasing shadows in midfield the whole night. I also think Gray deserves a run of starts. He is their only player who is playing at a half decent level atm. A front 6 of Ndidi, Drinkwater and Amartey with Mahrez and Gray either side of Vardy in a 4-3-3 would give this team the counter attacking threat they rely on whilst giving them an extra man in the middle. 4-4-2 works at this level if your front 6 is Saul, Gabi, Koke, Carrasco, Gameiro, Griezmann. Leicester don't have that quality so need to match up man-for-man if they wish to progress imo.

  • If sevilla werent so unlucky it would hav been 5-0

  • Theres hope for leicester! kappa

  • First chance, first goal for Leicester. Weird result after watching that game live...

  • The technical abilities of many Leicester are just horrible, haven't seen that on that level before. It is almost a different sport the two teams are representing.

  • @neumi17- Last season they played some excellent stuff but this season, particularly against the top teams- which is where they excelled, they have been all over the place defensively (as proven by the back 4's diabolical positioning tonight) and are reverting to a league 1 type of "lump it and sprint" football. Last season we saw nice interplay, decisive passing and clinical finishing but this is more like Leicester of 2014/15. You don't lose ability, you do however lose confidence. They need a run of wins to see them break clear of the relegation places then we'll start to see better football or "less bad" at least. Might not be in time for the return leg of this tie though.

  • No shots on target from Leicester so far

  • Not saying Sevilla were bad team before but Sampaoli has brought them to a whole new level! How often do get team playing like this after bringing so many palyers in the summer? It looks like they've played together at least for three years.

  • Amazingly only 1-0 for Sevilla

  • If it wasn't for Schmeichel the rating for the entire team of Leicester would be below 6.00 ! Kick and rush is dead I thought.

  • Great cross, great goal...!

  • Ok, lets go. Finesse football against grinding, running and fighting. Curious what will be more successfull...

  • @neumi17 Definetely finesse so far...

  • 4-1

  • Sevilla winning the game by winning the first half

  • Leicester will be pleased that an hour before kick off it's still 0-0.

  • 2-2

  • a 3-0 win for sevilla obviously

  • this is going to be a disappointing night for english football

  • Sevilla will show which is the best league. 4-0 sevilla

  • Apparently Leicester have defensive problems especially in away games but the UcL might serve as turning point; another cinderella story in the offin? sevilla to win 2-3/0 (1x under 3.5)

  • leicester will win and score 1-3 or 2-3

  • Draw all the way here

  • Sevilla will win HC 2:0 or 3:1

  • Sevilla to win 2-0, N'Zonzi hat-trick. Gary Lineker to equalise for Leicester.

  • X2 park the bus....

  • 4-0

  • Leicester have a different method of playing in the champions league and it will be a surprise for sevilla fc. Slimani to score 2-0

  • @Jacob05 slimani is out

  • Leicester City will shock the world tomorrow.

  • @trill by losing even higher than expected?

  • Sevilla play too good football for Leicester. 3-0

  • Sevilla will Leicester

  • So the general consensus is that there will be Two goals in this match. Are we saying that Leicester cannot force Sevilla to win with just a 2 goal difference?

  • Sevilla will lose by 1-0

  • I forsee an upset. ..Leicester City with 2 goals

  • Leicester will be looking to get a goal and defend to get a draw but I don't think it will work with sevilla

  • Leicester are in an abysmal run of form atm and not being relegated from the premier league is all that matters. They played a 2nd XI in the loss to Millwall at the weekend in order for their first team to play here fully rested and ready to go. I'm not so sure that is the best move. Granted, if they draw or win (albeit extremely unlikely) then the confidence boost could spur them on in the league, but this is one of the tougher away venues to visit in European football and the damage a loss could do, especially a big one, is immense. Leicester are doing the polar opposite of what they did last season- defending badly and not converting their chances. It would've made more sense to attempt to play a 2nd XI here so they are fresh for the league game against Liverpool- a more winnable match being they are at home and Liverpool have a type of defence an on-form Leicester could break down. I would like them to still be in the tie come the 2nd leg but I don't see past a 3-0 Sevilla win.

  • @SteveHyland But playing in the champions league might be a dream for Leicester, they might not be able to do it again, so why not focus on it and try to progress? Even if they fail it's okay, so try to make history again is a good move.

  • @hellreaper- It could be an either/or choice though. Would they rather progress to the last 8 of the champions league or win 3 in a row in the prem to make relegation unlikely? The hierarchy would like Leicester to become a perennial European competition contender and that is possible next season with a couple of signings and lack of midweek football but that isn't possible from the championship.

  • 3 - 1

  • 3 - 0

  • 3 - 1

  • It's a joy to watch Sevilla in Sanchez Pizjuan this season. I see Sevilla winning in here comfortably.
