Team News
Eintracht Frankfurt
Borussia Dortmund
- Jesús Vallejo is fully fit again and could return to the back-three.
- Bastian Oczipka would then switch to a position in midfield in this case, with Omar Mascarell, Marc Stendera and Makoto Hasebe all suffering from injuries.
- Manchester United-loanee Guillermo Varela, who filled in in midfield recently, has been suspended by the club, after he got tattooed against the instructions of the club this week and risked an infection to his arm.
- Talisman Alexander Meier is fit again and offers a further option up front.
- Manager Thomas Tuchel could switch to a 4-1-4-1 here, like he did in the 3-1 Bundesliga win against Frankfurt in April.
- Lukasz Piszcek and Marcel Schmelzer are expected to recover from injuries in time to start in the full-back positions.
- Nuri Sahin should replace the injured Julian Weigl in defensive midfield again.
- Should Tuchel stick to a 3-5-2 here, Christian Pulisic and Raphael Guerreiro offer further alternatives on the flanks, while Marco Reus would partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front.
Dortmund plays so poorly, I don't know whats going on. Frankfurt much better and more engaged. Should be 3:1 Frankfurt by now. Dortmund looks like in a friendly match...
Bastian Oczipka has been one of the most consistent attacking left back in Bundesliga for quite a while now. I think anyone who is serious follower of bundesliga will agree this with me. I'm left pondering WHY THE HECK Joachim Low continues to snub him? WHY? Before Jonas Hector, Low used Schmelzer(I have mixed feelings about this guy.), Dennis Aogo(average left back), Jerome Boteng and Benedickt Howdedes(both of them center back). The only option we have in place Jonas Hector is Jannick Gerdhardt of Fc Wolfsburg. I don't know what is the deal with Jannick Gerhardt. Maybe Low knows better. So far he (Gerhardt) didn't impress me at all. Wasn't Gerhardt used more regularly in Mid Field during his Fc Cologne days? Can someone who has good knowledge of Die Manschaft and Joachim Low in general can tell me why Low continues to snub Bastain Oczipka?
@Ffaris Keep in mind that Oczipka is 28 years old by now. When Löw was desperately looking for a left back, Oczipka wasn't very consistent. His first season with Eintracht (2012) was really good. Infact, we all thought that Oczipka and Sebastian Jung could be Löw's future full backs. The following couple of seasons they both couldn't rise above mediocrity robbing themselves of the chance to join the national team in 2013.
@BeautifulLoser yeah that Sebestian Jung guy, I totally forgot about him. He practically destroyed his career by moving to cash rich wolfburg. Yeah I do remember him being future right back for die manschaft. But look where he is now. He is warming up wolfsburg bench. He can't get in first team now in place of non-specialist right backs like Kuba and Vierinha. There was Christain Trasch who I believe was u-21 captain German National team(though I could be wrong) and a crown jewel of Vfb Stuttgart and he also destroyed his career at fc wolfsburg.
@BeautifulLoser Well I will take your word for it. But age difference bw Jonas Hector(1990) age and Bastian Oczipka(1989) is only one year. So I believe there is still chance for him, if Low considers it. Plus look at England. I know they are not a good example to follow. But Kyle Walker and Rose(he was not even regular for Tottenham until Pochetino took over) were some of the most inconsistent full backs the Island nation has to offer. But only last two years they have become decent and are now No.1 for England in Left back and right back position. Anyways I appreciate your reply though.
Alexander Meier is back, so Frankfurt can do a miracle.
Let's go SGE! 2-1
BVB win + BTTS
Dortmund will win 1-3 or 2-3
I'll go Daniel Busch prediction. BVB winning by 3 goals to 1.
Heja BVB! Time to get that cup home!
@Javk5pakfa and kickstart BVB resurgence. We will be the champions of bundesliga next time around.
