It's like the 16/17- season all over again (MCFC). We create a lot of chances, press high and apply pressure early in the game. We fail to capitalize on these chances and once the opponent gets one or two shots on target they score, and we are back to square one - having to equalize then eventually win the game that doesn't happen. Too frustrating to watch, as this performance was so reminiscent of last season; Everton (H&A), Spurs (H), Southampton (A), Chelsea (H&A). Basically, this is a huge indication of our title chances, as Everton were one of the teams that we should've won against both last season and this season. Stekelenburg's two penalty saves are forever engrained in my memory as one of the most painful matches to watch, KDB missing a wide open goal at 1-0 vs Chelsea and Aguero missing sitters against MUFC (H). The defense is the only improvement, but then again it's the second game of the season. Too bad we are playing 3ATB with Stones in the center, f**king horrendous.
@ZuberiMamba If City don't win these types of games against evident weaker opposition, the league is handed over to MUFC who I consider to be the only one challenging City for the title (I might sound deluded, but in reality only City & Utd should be able to win this season). We got Liverpool the 9th of September, which really will show how far we've come opposed to last season. We were unlucky this time, but I wouldn't be surprised seeing Aguero being dropped to the bench for a game or two. We are in desperate need of a CB, as you may have guessed with that bid on Jonny Evans - with Stones still sucking a combination of sweaty orangoutang and gorilla testicles. MCFC v LFC is the game to watch!
@ZuberiMamba His ball playing ability is 8/10, a good passer of the ball - but everything else is sh*t. He can't track, he possesses low defensive awareness and his aerial ability is very questionable even with that height. Otamendi and Kompany are magnificent and ruthless in their way of playing and can hold their own - Stones? Nah. Danilo looks like a f**king world beater compared to him (he was excellent today in his build-up play). Aguero is still wasting golden chances by the smiths of assists in KDB and Silva - and I am starting to question his mentality. I was blind last season, and I won't go as far saying that he was the problem this match, but the game could've been won within the first 60 minutes of playing time had he scored some of his chances. Jesus had a blinder of a game, but Aguero should've scored at least 1 today, disappointing - and it hurts me to say this but he is starting to decline. IMO, he is miles above Lukaku and Kane, but they are proving to be more clinical
ON the Everton goal...Sane lost ball, Kompany over committed to ball, Stones marked no one instead of going to Rooney. Shot was very difficult to keep out...slotted quite pure from Rooney and close range. And only the keeper gets error by him? Ridiculous lol
Shame Everton couldn't hold on to 0-1 scoreline. But that's what happens if you respect your opponent too much. Still, better times for Toffes to come!
@hindy Simple minded, copy cat football. Conte showed all these inferior coaches (Pep included) that you can win with a three back formation, now they're all clamoring for glory. It's crazy. Many of these teams don't even run it that well. Arsenal should have never lined up as they did on the weekend. But hey, it won the league last year so...
In the preview it suggest keeping the squad happy. I suggest picking a team to win every match as a manager and sticking with the back three seems wise. A winning squad is a happy squad. If the team wins those missing out can't really complain and he should just say tough luck to them. It's a bit early to start rotating...need to get points on the board. Whether Pep agrees with me or Whoscored is another matter tho
Looking forward to watching this game. Koeman is an astute man and tends to set his teams up very well against those who are free-flowing. I wouldn't be shocked to see an Everton win but being at the Etihad I think a score draw or narrow City win are more likely. City played some gorgeous football at times against Brighton but Everton are no Brighton. I am going to say 2-2.
@SteveHyland Not the same game I saw against Brighton. They squandered chances left, right & centre & Gabriel Jesus should be ashamed of trying to con the ref with an Henry-style handball into the net against a newly promoted side.
My analysis at the end of week 1 in the EPL had Man Utd playing the best football despite being against a poor West Ham. This was followed up with an equally decent display against Swansea.
Arsenal were rubbish against Leicester & even worse against Stoke only strengthening Abramovic's controversial policy of sacking poor managers "in the morning" & why Sanchez should leave.
Chelsea were poor & undisciplined against Burnley but put in a decent shift against Spurs without Cahill, Hazard & Costa at their disposal. Spurs will not not do as well as last season & Rose should not have apologised for speaking the truth.
Liverpool are worse this season without Coutinho. True he hasn't been sold but he's not playing and the season's kicked off already.
@Red_Card- Hence the "at times" part. Yes they were wasteful, tbh this is indicative of Pep's teams anyway. Bayern used to create loads and miss loads, probably safe in the knowledge that they will create more. That type of attitude breeds complacency. But their general play, the passing, movement etc was excellent to watch during portions of the game, especially when Silva was architect. I agree we were defensively poor against Leicester and offensively poor against Stoke but there are extenuating circumstances for the defensive frailties (although we should've signed a CB at the begin of preseason when it was clear Wenger was going to persevere with the back 3) and if Sanchez was in the team, we probably would've beaten Stoke because he would've replaced Welbeck who was the worst offender for missing chances. I understand why Sanchez wants to leave but 2 seasons ago he was hardly blameless in our failure to win the league. He wasted good chances like Giroud and Ramsey did.
Rooney is back to his old self.

Goalkeeper error??? What a jokers at this site. Otamendi MOM haha, he was crap as usual.
Making that goal as an error for ManCity GK is ridiculous...
ON the Everton goal...Sane lost ball, Kompany over committed to ball, Stones marked no one instead of going to Rooney. Shot was very difficult to keep out...slotted quite pure from Rooney and close range. And only the keeper gets error by him? Ridiculous lol
@Champion Couldn't agree more. Was Stones defending an invisible extra striker?
@Champion And by the way I am saying this is all part of football...I think no errors is fine..
Error for Ederson is nonsense. Way too harsh.
@Champion Terrible goalkeeping.
Oh do one, giving Otamendi that +0.3 5 minutes after the game had ended. Rooney was MoTM.
@Aereze Agree with you. I played Rooney for MoTM, but looks like i'll never vote on this site again.
Everton wasted good opportunity by playing defensive football
Shame Everton couldn't hold on to 0-1 scoreline. But that's what happens if you respect your opponent too much. Still, better times for Toffes to come!
What a fatty that everton gk.
very poor refereeing if to be fair
lolwalks
If Everton finish off the job they won't get any credit. Pundits will spend their time criticising Man City.
How was that en error of Ederson?
@srosiers agree, that was more fault of Sane. Anyway goalkeeper usually has a chance to stop that kind of shots.
@tar88s Cause a goalkeepers job is to stop shots not bounce them off their face into the net.
Rooney who? say no more, the man who has scored all the goals for Everton this season!
3-1-4-2 vs 3-5-2? Really?
@MGR Man, if anyone told me last year that 10-12 Prem teams will use three-at-the-back formation this season, I'd call them crazy.
@hindy Simple minded, copy cat football. Conte showed all these inferior coaches (Pep included) that you can win with a three back formation, now they're all clamoring for glory. It's crazy. Rooney rated higher than every player in City's starting line up except Silva is the joke of the week.

@blueblood36 City are bang average..
Boom match
