Tottenham, you'd better wake up now. The league is your to lose.
Alonso's winner should be an error for Lloris. That shot simply should've been saved at this level. I'm a fan of is but it was an error. Keepers should learn to save with their feet/legs more. Often it is the easier option and it needn't affect their keeper's ability with their hands/arms.
@SteveHyland Those errors are count when keeper force an opponent to take a shot or creates goal scoring opportunity, not when he misjudges while saving an attempt. In this case, Alonso took shot not because he realized that Lloris was in wrong position or something, he was originally looking for a goal anyway.
@ernold- It has been awarded an error. I must admit I don't know the specific criteria of "errors" (or indeed any other WhoScored stat beyond what is self-explanatory) but if a save should be made, and isn't, then there is no way that cannot be considered an error imo. There could/should also be an error awarded for shots which should be scored yet aren't although that would be far more difficult to quantify than the Lloris example we saw yesterday.
@SteveHyland Harsh imo. Could have gone either way. Wasn't as easy as it looked as the ball could have been crossed or lifted
seemed like Tottenham could've played untill morning's dawn without scoring a goal... btw Dembele is great !
Chelsea was the better team
Batshuayi u were laughing at Morata now we're laughing at u
stupid mistake from Lioris gave Chelesa 3 points
I can't believe that Chelsea won !!!
@mike13 Neither can I
Chelsea parked the bus crazy
Tough one to lose for Tottenham. Had several spells of dominance but couldn't quite get the final ball and then a stupid error at the end results in 0 points.
Mhm, possession: 68-32 %, shots: 18-9, on target: 6-2, dribbles: 15-9 , pass accuracy: 85-70 , corners: 14-3, result... 1-2
@neumi17 Right on. How disappointing! If Spurs don't work on their Wembley hung up pronto they'll finish tenth in the league.
That's why there is no logic in football !!!
@mike13 There is logic. Chelsea played the more effective game.
Lloris is so consistent in making stupid mistakes
I don't think Mousa Dembele nearly gets the recognition he deserves.
Whoscored, please award assist for forcing an own goal. Eriksen's ball made the own goal.
@Champion I agree, but Opta are the people who gather the stats.
Alonso has to be the best wing back in the world. Great free kicks and great going forward. It would be a huge mistake and big waste of money to sign Alex Sandro. Alonso is key to Chelsea. He is probably their most important player.
@Champion Alonso is good and MotM today no doubt, but in my mind Sandro is still a better player. Defensively at least, and his crosses are deadly. As for going forward, Marcelo playing left back is still the best at this.
wtf, conte playing w 3 CB, 3 DM.. and 2 fullbacks. i dont think i have ever seen a starting 11 with just 2 attackers. talk about parking the bus, conte park 2 buses so they dont give up 3 like last game
@edemex What would you have done if you were missing Cahill, Hazard, Fabregas, Pedro - your regular players. Also when three of your players from starting XI would be starting for first time in EPL. You got a better plan?
match center what the heck!!
Under 2.5 goals
Chelsea will win at Wembley!
Conte change all the team who win everything last year ... Very special guy with a big ego. He will be on the bike very soon if he not win quickly .. Maybe Costa is very difficult to drive , but he is a special winner on the field and you can't let him go like a dog when you have an Hazard under injury and a Morata just arrived ... Eriksen Kane Ali will be not here for the fun, will be very hard to take one point for Chelsea ... very hard..
@splash Now say that loudly without crying
Tottenham expected to win here, but I have a feeling Chelsea is going to put some real hard work in this match and manage a draw, since they don't want to lose 2 matches in a row.
X2
Tottenham know that winning the league calls for a steady good play from the beginning. They'll be coming for Chelsea with vengeance at heart for narrowly beating them to the title last season. Chelsea meanwhile have title winner's pressure compounding their recent dismal performance and internal troubles. They are not likely to take advantage of Spur's phobia for Wembley. Tottenham to win.
Surprise win for Chelsea
Chelsea won't let down fans in two games in a row
Normally, I would back Chelsea to win, but there are far too many absent key players to do that... The chance for Chelsea in this game comes with the fact that Tottenham are pretty poor at Wembley. It will be for sure an interesting game. I think I'll bet on BTTS, for me it seems like the best bet here.
@specter goal goal must apply
chelsea sure win, 3-1,3-2,4-1,4-2
First home fixture of the season and Spurs find themselves with an excellent opportunity to respond to those that go on and on and on about their poor record at the new Wembley: last year's champions, Chelsea, a team they don't often do very well against, looking a little vulnerable. Chelsea themselves have lost their last couple of visits to Wembley. Moreover, Chelsea lost their opening league match at home to Burnley (a team who finished last season with just 1 win and 7 points away from home) and the blues are missing several key players (Cahill, Hazard, Fabregas, Costa). With Eriksen, Kane, Dembele, Toby, and Alli all fit, Tottenham should be able to win this one. Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea.
Tottenham win or draw
spurs win for sure
Chelsea will score...
DRAW 2:2
100% win for spurs tough times for chelsea this season spurs win @ 4 - 2
Spurs 2-1
Brace yourself Spurs fans, we're about to destroy your small meaningless club. Prediction: 5-0 Chelsea.
@Diegolazo19 I mean you lost 3-2 to burnley
This Chelsea won't lose two in the row!
@albgunn I remember people saying that about Chelsea last season after they lost to Liverpool (before they lost to Arsenal). I also remember people saying that about Chelsea season before last and they went on to lose two in a row *three times*. They also once lost three in a row that season. So who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
chelsea to win 2-1
Beacause of hazard, pedro, cesc, cahill, bakayoko's absence, tottenham will win easily.
Spurs 0 - 0 Chelsea
Tottenham win 2-0.
Only in Spurs deluded minds..
@Diegolazo19 Where is the downvote button?
@Champion wtf did u just post?
If this were at the Lane, I would say Spurs win but they were severely affected by playing at Wembley in Europe last season (Something which happened to my own team for a couple of seasons) so it is anyone's guess to how they will perform here. I doubt Spurs will lose being they look so together as a team atm but it could be a draw with Wembley being the leveller. We shall see. I think later in the season, Spurs will be fine but early doors it could prove an issue. 1-1.
@SteveHyland They seemed to do well in a friendly against Juventus earlier this month. What makes you think they will be affected?
@uefalona- Teams have a 50% chance of struggling in the first season since moving to a new stadium. The flipside is that they have a 50% chance of being inspired- not to mention this won't be Spurs' permanent new home. There are many variables which make this season difficult to predict based on probability (whereas I would be confident of saying top 4 and title contenders had they been at the Lane). If after the first few games they look unfazed then Wembley wont be an issue. Their record here is poor to say the least (W2 - D1 - L7) but this game will be a good indicator because based on form and respective quality of the XIs expected to start, Spurs should win.
@uefalona It will also be interesting to see how Chelsea perform at Wembley with only 6,000 fans supporting them.
Draw . Spurs not good at Home
Wembley is our second home. Spurs are finished.
@YairProMoreno difficult to say the scoreline with half of Chelsea's starting squad missing...I think Spurs can edge this one out. 2-0
Another hard for Chelsea
