Not surprising that Spurs suffered without Kane in the team. Those who view him as purely a goalscorer criminally underrate his worth. Much like Pep's Bayern with Lewandowski, so much of the attacking play goes through Harry that when you take him out, the whole offensive game-plan falters. Eriksen and Alli look lesser players in particular without Kane as the #9 and Eriksen is the conductor of the Tottenham orchestra. That being said, Tottenham still created double the number of chances as Man Utd despite being the away side and it took a Pulisean goal to seal a Utd win. I think Pochettino shot himself in the foot by not starting Llorente. In lieu of Kane, it makes sense a player who can do some of the things he can, plays. Son can do none of the important things Kane can in the central striking role. I don't think Spurs necessarily would have won with Kane in the team but it is highly likely they would not have lost. It is rare to see such an apprehensive Utd performance at home.
@SteveHyland I generally agree. Losing an important in form player like Kane is always a psycological blow too. Nevertheless, United that were not nearly as comfortable at home as I would have expected them to be. @11tegen11 has United and Spurs equal on xG meaning it could have gone either way but united were at home and Dier dropped his concentration at the wrong moment. Spurs certainly weren't walloped as some United fans predicted.
Someone tell me key moments in this game with serious analysis and how Spurs faired without Llorente. And why is Llorente zero aerials? Did Spurs not use his height once? Also why did Son and Sissoko go off? Seemed strange to sub them and why didn't Sanchez start for Spurs? I had things to do and only managed to see the last 15 mins , but by stats and subs if appears Pochettino made many mistakes today whereas Jose made a very good change to sub Rashford for Martial. I know there are a lot of troll post but sometimes we can be serious lol
@Champion- Jose called Sanchez out for being the weak link in the Europa Cup final last season and it appears Pochettino believes that would have negatively affected Davinson, being only 21. I'm surmising, but I don't see why you would bench a CB who was excellent against Madrid for Dier, who always takes 3 or 4 adjustment period games when moving from CM to CB (or vice versa) and I don't think Sanchez was injured. Dier was actually partly at fault for Martial's goal. In hindsight, Sanchez would either have been in the correct position in the first place or he at least has the pace to get to Martial if his starting position was wrong.
@Champion i dont think Spurs know how to use Llorente properly. VS West Ham they took him off then started putting balls into the box, which was odd. When he came on today they were playing to football, which obviously isn't his strength. Sissoko went off for Dembele probably because Pochettino wanted greater control in midfield and when he came on Eriksen had more license to press forward. Not sure why Son went off though, nor about Sanchez not starting
@delpiero1100 .. Er... you also predicted that Everton would 100 % draw or beat Arsenal and you were wrong. Arsenal thrashed Everton. Therefore, you can choose to cherry pick and celebrate the fraction of results that happen to align with one of your predictions but plenty of people with assess the value of your comments based on a wider total sample of contributions.
@MEHJones and why u remember only the matches i dont predict right try to remember the matches i predict them right but maybe u cant cuz they r too many )))))))))))))
@MEHJones in the end iam not God dude...maybe 90% of my prediction get right and at least 80% but not more than that ..every week i predict more than 10 matches and maybe only one match dont get right so its not a big deal mate....just chill
Jose made got subs and Pochettino bad ones. That's the difference here. Jose has outdone Pochettino. I think Spurs would have probably won with Kane however.
@ilovefooty Is that a joke? Last game he played against Man U he scored and hit the woodwork in a 2-1 win...you have a very short memory..kane is also better than ever..
@Champion I meant in the away game. The games Mourinho played against in big 6 in the second half of last season don't count because he put all his eggs in the Europa League basket. I mean, he even lost to Arsenal ffs. Better than ever than he can score without chances?
@ilovefooty Yes, but the Spurs home game when he scored and hit the woodwork was more recent. So maybe he learned how to play against Mourinho's style. Players do learn and he is a better player now. Nothing is a guarantee but Kane in a game like this would have probably scored and been the difference. We don't know for sure. Football is a squad game anyway. Obviously both teams had players out.
With Kane in the team I believe that Spurs would have won. Looking at our line up today, I think we are fortunate for Kane's injury and we have parked the bus before kick off!!
hahahahaa whoscored.com really funny...as Pep Guardiola that Tottenham name is Harry Kane club ...and today Kane will not play and there will be no Tottenham as we seen them before ..United should win this match 100%
Tottenham's record with Kane is W21-D5-L4 and without Kane it's W5-D3-L0. Points per game is the same (2.3), goals per game is slightly higher (2.1 with vs 2.8 without) and goals against is slightly higher (0.6 with vs 0.9 without). Only one of those 8 games without Kane was against a team that finished in the top 7 and that was at home against Pep's Man City last October when City were unbeaten and had won their previous six.
against the imperious Kane Jose would have bus parked even at home. Now we will see Jose try to dominate and boss the game imo. But Spurs can be tight defensive and Son's going to be a real danger on the break
Jose is a winner . Can't say the Same of Poch. Poch team is an attacking team with 0 tactics or 2nd back plan. They lack a back up strategy. Look the way Conte's Chelsea get results against Spurs. Soak the pressure then kill them everytime. 4-2 & 2-1. Spurs spend nearly 80% of their ball in opposition half. Giving opponents the chance for Counter attack. Even if they're 2-0 up they're still play attacking football rather than close down and protect the lead. That was the same with West Ham 0-2/3-2 loss as well as the earlier 2-0/3-2 to West Ham. Thier lack of plan in dire times and strategy will be the death of them. Poch is a great manager but attacking at OT would be their greatest mistake like now they're fatigued and desperate to flip Utd on the table.
@njamimaranga It's difficult to take anything you write seriously when you make absolutist statements which are clearly false: "Look the way Conte's Chelsea get results against Spurs. Soak the pressure then kill them everytime". Spurs beat Chelsea 2-0 in January and ended Chelsea's 13 game unbeaten run. So no, not "everytime". Moreover, claiming that Poch has "0 tactics" just shows you don't actually watch his teams play.
@MEHJones last 2 games Spurs played vs Chelsea.
FA CUP Chelsea 4-2 Spurs.
PL Spurs 1-2 Chelsea. With all games Spurs dominating possession 58% & 55% but still Poch lacked an Idea.
We can't argue on this. Poch is just an attacking manager with no back up tactic or strategy. He lacks good judgment
Tottenham are obviously the better team and in good shape right now but they were challenged mentally by West Ham on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup. And they failed! I believe United don’t have the squad to dominate the league but Pochetino has been exposed far too many times now in key matches! Given that Jose is a master tactician. I believe Pochetinos naivety and his cockiness will let Tottenham down at Old Trafford! This game will be the game of managerial supremacy and Jose won’t give away an inch here. I’m going for United winning 2:1/3:2
Winning is a habit and so after Spurs letting a 2-0 lead slip to West Ham I'm now less confident that Spurs will have the nerve required for this match.
Surely one of the biggest games of the season. Both of the teams defend very compact and the managers tactics have been sparking throughout the teams performances. Man United on the back of a loss against Huddersfield, and Spurs on the back of a beautifying and adamant result against Liverpool. It's a no-brainer that Mourinho will be kicking his players hard to get a convincing result against this rampant Spurs side with the marauding wing-backs and the demon of a finisher in Kane. Analysing the Man Utd v Huddersfield game, United started to collapse defensively after that Jones injury - but now Bailly is back to partner him up in the back 4'. This is without doubt, United's biggest game so far and now they have a perfect chance to show how perfectly they can soak up pressure to one of the most fierce, vicious and deadly teams in Europe. Lukaku struggles against established defences, such as Spurs's, but I reckon this will go end-to-end in 90 minutes: 2-1 to either of the teams.
Spurs has brought a very difficult formation. If they can play this formation very well then they can get a draw. But if Man U fans flood the stadium and ginger their boys up with cheers, the destruction can still happen. The worst result for Man U in this match is a draw. In fact Man U will win.
If Utd didn't have Pogba and fellaini injured , I wouldn't have imagined spurs win at old Trafford this season. They can still win but I don't see a comfortable win . Utd conceding two goals and scoring none is a rare scenario at home right now. Utd can win with determination. hard to predict the winner here
This is one of the most misleading prediction.
Think of United failing to score at home. Wrong.
Think of United conceding 2 goals at OT. Wrong.
Think of United loosing at home. Wrong.
Best rated team in all Top 5 league with highest rating. Manchester united (7.23) but still they loose. Wrong.
United loosing 2 games back to back. Wrong.
United has kept Cleensheet against Spurs in the last 3 home home games. But still concede 2 against spurs out of the blue. Wrong
Tell you whoscored.com predictions aren't credible and reliable.
Get out HK and Eriksen outta my FPL ASAP.
UNITED 3-0 SPURS. But maybe spurs could score bcoz they're very good on away games but nobody knows the CB to pair. United scores 3 goals at Home
you all tend to forget United lost just because Jones was taken off injured. if he had played fully against huddersfield they probably wouldn't have lost. anyways United won't lose this one.
I really like whoscored's prediction, 2-0 for Spurs, i'm glad that they dont predict MU will win this match, In fact, whoscored's prediction score is not that good tho, this is why i will say MU will win 2-0, #MUFC #GGMU
Any game better than the Liverpool vs Man United 0-0 draw would be much appreciated. I'd take one goal. Just one. I don't care who scores it. Just ANY little thing better than that game and I will be happy. I will even take a free-kick that hits the crossbar but looks kind of okay. I'll take a dribble that is somewhat successful. I'll take the ball hitting the side-netting in a way that LOOKS like a goal and makes the crowd go, "Awwww!" I'm really not asking for much.
Spurs has no chance against United.
From manager experience and tactics, squad depth and rotation. Squad quality. The pitch.
Don't even see Spurs scoring leave alone drawing. They've always failed scoring after OT for the last 3 season when we had inferior managers. Do you think they're score now with a very good manager and good squad. Spurs are looking good. But do you think 2 days rest will be enough for them. They lack squad depth and can't rotate well as United.
They're poor in the air. Bring Fellaini, Smalling and Lukaku there and they're finished.
United to win 3-0.
Its almost impossible to beat United at Old Trafford even with an average squad. Don't forget the Chelsea who were on 14 winning streak. United handed them an L with Lingard Bieng the man of the match. Lol.
@njamimaranga This is why everyone hates man u and liverpool fans all they see is MANCHESTER UNITED or LIVERPOOL its not the 80s or 90s u are not the best team in england Most history maybe. Spurs are 5/2 to beat man u saturday this is your xmas money early, GET ON IT Bookies only make these mistakes once or twice a year. SPURS 5 Man u 0
@ANTOMC72- The bookmakers have Man Utd as the favourites at 11/8 with a Spurs win at 23/10 and the draw also at 23/10. They also have the four most likely correct scores as 1-1, 1-0, 2-1 and 0-0 respectively. This is based on an aggregate of over 30 companies who trade in the UK that I know of.
@ANTOMC72- Oh I wasn't questioning your bet, just that based on the average odds across all the bookies I know of, a Utd win is the most likely. You did well getting 5/2 on Spurs, I did see an 11/4 but can't remember who with. I don't bet but it is good to see what the bookies think. Usually they do well with sports and terribly with politics.
@SteveHyland OH I THOUGHT U DIDNT BELIVE ME i just think the price for spurs was too big at 5/2 unbeaten away from home against one of man u worst teams in years [missing pogba and ibra] united only played w ham, everton, leicter, and palace at home 14th 16th 18th and 20th The bookies tend to give generous odds for all uniteds opponents
@njamimaranga Chelsea were on a 2-match winning streak when United beat them in the league last season. They were on a 13-match winning run when Spurs beat them, so...
@MEHJones With Kane out United are favorites. It's as simple as that. Changing my prediction to 1-1 but Toby, Eriksen, and Lloris will have to be on their game .
ahahaha Man U records against Spurs is amazing. The return of Bailly shall strenthen Man U defense and parking of buses will not be the style of Man U in this encounter.
It will be a great mistake to think Man U will be under dogs in their own stadium before their own fans.
Man U 4-1 Tottenham.
@aymane.spur Ego will make Tottenham to lose. If they fight for a draw they can get but they will like to fight for a win and that is why they'll see the ball behind their net several times.
A pretty easy win here for the Spurs. I can't see how MU could win here. MU are slow, blunt and without any fantasy for scoring, not to mention the building of the chances.
Not surprising that Spurs suffered without Kane in the team. Those who view him as purely a goalscorer criminally underrate his worth. iam Genius ..i was right.i told u guys its Hary Kane club and without him they cant win....as Pep Guadriola said hahahahahah
@delpiero1100 To clarify, I don't think that you are the worst poster on here, I'm just not convinced that you are a genius.
@MEHJones ok bro then u must watch Milan vs Juve match and i can admit to u that juve will not win 100% then u will call me a GENIUS

@MEHJones *soul DOH!
what you get for benching Davinson Sanchez
@DelJuve Fair enough. I have no idea why he did that. Had a knock/illness maybe?
Jose made got subs and Pochettino bad ones. That's the difference here. Jose has outdone Pochettino. I think Spurs would have probably won with Kane however.
@Champion how when they didn't create any chances. Kane has come up against us before and Mourinho completely nullified him
@ilovefooty Is that a joke? Last game he played against Man U he scored and hit the woodwork in a 2-1 win...you have a very short memory..kane is also better than ever..

Spurs win 4-1, Kane scoring all goals including the MU goal. Knae MOTM(pun intended)
United ll win. 1-0
why changed from 0-2 :)? without Kane both to score and United win 2-1
United win 100%
Man of the Match 1.Harry Kane 25%
@ilovefooty KANE is OUT!!! Harmstring Injury.
@enxit I copy and pasted the man of the match prediction
@ilovefooty Awkward
Heug-Min in form
Even without Kane, I can see spurs still win. Spurs is really a team with great teamwork, they are not rely on single player.
Kane is out with injury, not likely to start for Spurs. Son as striker ftw!
against the imperious Kane Jose would have bus parked even at home. Now we will see Jose try to dominate and boss the game imo. But Spurs can be tight defensive and Son's going to be a real danger on the break
Kane is out , makes an enormous different. I'll say draw now or spurs by a goal.
united 1 - 2 spurs

I would like to see us stick with a back 3 because it solves our winger problems and allows either Rashford or Martial to partner Lukaku up front

Paul Pogba is a big loss for United Spurs are hitting form so Spurs might sneak a draw or even a rare win at Old Trafford: Man United 1-2 Tottenham.
@MEHJones then again United might win via a dodgy penalty.
@MEHJones With Kane out United are favorites. It's as simple as that. Changing my prediction to 1-1 but Toby, Eriksen, and Lloris will have to be on their game .

@aymane.spur Ego will make Tottenham to lose. If they fight for a draw they can get but they will like to fight for a win and that is why they'll see the ball behind their net several times.
@aymane.spur This meaning it will never happen again? I hate stats like these, it's football, they might smash em 10-0 for all we know.
@Kendev Or Spurs smash United 10-3 and then we'll hate stats like these
Man Utd will park the bus i'll go for 0-0 or narrow win for Spurs
Spurs win
A pretty easy win here for the Spurs. I can't see how MU could win here. MU are slow, blunt and without any fantasy for scoring, not to mention the building of the chances.
hard match for mourinho but he loses here comfortably
Mourinho to pack the bus against this Totteham side, he doesn't want another lose here.
