@excalibur Bakayoko is very good playing as defensive or central midfielder, but he was playing as attacking midfielder today. He screwed up many scoring chances today. Not saying it was a bad game for him, but that is not his best position.

He just needs to do this on a regular basis. It's probably the best I've ever seen Bakayoko play in his career. But he has Kante to thank for that. Bakayoko had complete freedom due to Kante's discipline.

His heat map and average player position prove he was playing as a box-to-box midfielder, which is categorically his best position- and always has been. With Kante in the team, however, Bakayoko can be a true box-to-box player and that means getting involved in and on the end of attacks.

Kante is lightyears better than Matic. Kante's agility, mobility , stamina and defensive IQ is simply on another level to Matic. Kante also bases his whole game around control, helping his team mates have more freedom and more of the ball. It must be really reassuring to have such a team orientated hard worker with pace and stamina behind them. Fabregas and Bakayoko have played with so much freedom knowing that Kante never switches off mentally. Hell of a player Kante and one that every team needs. He is hands down the best defensive midfielder in the world. And yes, that's his role in this game. A pure DM
