It seems that Palace at had a difficult game at the weekend. Brighton are gaining confidence after getting outplayed by Man City in the first match of the season. So anything could happen!
This is a very interesting match up. Both sides use interesting tactical football and have interesting managers. I think this match up on paper is difficult to predict. Palace have the X Factor of Zaha. I have a feeling Crystal Palace can win here. If not due to my head, my hear thinks Palace will win here because of the romance of another win for Roy Hodgson. I will follow this game with great interest as a neutral.
One of my favourite football stories of all time is associated with this fixture. For the 1974/75 season, Brighton and Hove Albion FC rebranded themselves as 'The Dolphins' and introduced a new club crest picturing a jumping dolphin. Abour a year or so later prior to a Brighton vs Crystal Palace match there were fans from both teams drinking in the Bosun public house. Some of the Palace fans started chanting, "Eagles, Eagles" and it prompted a group of home fans to reply with "Seagulls, Seagulls". This chant apparently continued on into the stadium itself. Seemingly as a direct result of this fan driven event, Brighton changed their crest from a dolphin to a seagull the following year. Brighton have been known as the seagulls ever since. The current club director, Derek Chapman, has claimed to have been among the home fans in the pub at the time.
I think the value is in brighton 0.0
0-0 or 1-1
