Team News

Arsenal
BATE
  • Shkodran Mustafi is ruled out on Thursday and a doubt for the weekend's match against Southampton, so Arsene Wenger may rest Per Mertesacker here in case he is needed against the Saints.
  • Illness has kept Theo Walcott out of Arsenal's last six matches but Wenger has confirmed he will start with Jack Wilshere on Thursday.
  • Danny Welbeck or Olivier Giroud will lead the line for the Gunners.
  • Few changes are expected from BATE Borisov's usual XI on Thursday.

Prediction

  • Arsenal have already qualified as group winners but will be looking to bounce back from their incredible 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
  • BATE Borisov are currently bottom of Group H but will qualify with Arsenal if they can beat the Gunners on Thursday and FC Cologne and Red Star Belgrade draw in the group's other match.
  • The away side have only lost one of their last 10 matches but have left themselves too much to do here. Arsenal should finish the group stage with a comfortable three points on Thursday.

  • I was surprised to see Wenger use a back 4, even against poor opposition. I was even more surprised that BATE Borisov really didn't have a game plan. I thought they would press us aggressively, put in heavy challenges around the area and look to counter attack knowing that they needed to win to have a chance of progressing. Not only did they not do that but they didn't batten down the hatches in an attempt to escape with a respectable margin of loss either. Strange. Not that I mind too much, although it is almost impossible to take much away from a game of this type. It will be interesting to see who we get in the next stage baring in mind Bayern Munich aren't in the competition.

  • I knew it no way arsenal would slip up here it's all about finishing on a high and getting confidence up for southampton match.

  • arsenal to do a liverpool here and win 7-0

  • Official lineup just released: Ospina, Debuchy, Chambers, Holding, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Coquelin, Wilshere, Walcott, Welbeck, Giroud

  • Arsenal will win here this match is about finishing the group stages on a high and building confidence for the southampton match. This time arsenal will show up. Arsenal win and welbeck to score.

  • GG

  • Can be draw aswell take care..

  • No bet this

  • Wenger said he will line up quite experienced team so maybe Mertesacer will start anyway I believe Arsenal in this match they are fabuless at home...3:0

  • I expect Giroud to start over Welbeck with it being confirmed Walcott will start. Both Wilshere and Walcott play better with a target man in the 9, not somebody who likes to come deep and get involved in the build-up. WhoScored's lineup seems spot-on and I agree Mertesacker will be saved for the game against Southampton at the weekend. Individual errors cost us against Utd, and a formation is not to blame for that. Wenger likes the 3-4-2-1 so will keep it. I expect us to have too much although with that back 3, I can see us conceding. 3-1 Arsenal.

  • @SteveHyland Why save on Mertesacker? He’s only played 540 minutes this season.

  • @Gusjaros Well that would be one more reason to rest him. Playing 180 mins within few days would be challenging for a player who has completed only 90 minutes during last five weeks, at least on a first team level. Plus he's 33 and weighs modest 90 kilos or so :D

  • Arsenal Win
