A few thoughts on the match : 1) ribery was awesome getting behind real madrid's defence with ease and dragging the ball back 2) muller was poor 3) lewandowski kept the ball well but finishing was off 4) ronaldo looked heavy and lack of agility. he also had an eye on his yellow card due to shirt off celebration vs juve. another would've prevented him from 2nd leg. 5) zidane should've brought kovacic earlier. 6) both teams looked tired and lethargic 7) Navas has become almost paranoid with his mistakes. looks nervy all the time. 8) bayern are way stronger than real on the air.

But whereas Bayern was only bad in front of the goal and one incident in defence, Real was showing a really poor performance altogether. But it is how Zidane said, " Even when we play bad as yesterday and were the weaker team, we win. So that's a good sign for the future .."
@neumi17 zidane refuses to look at his defenders' terrible positioning and marking. he will never win la liga as he doesnt know what defending is in football. barca and atletico have conceded half of real's goals in la liga. whenever theres a counter attack the whole bunch looks petrified. on top of that navas letting in easy goals. bayern are also better at holding on to the ball. but we're better at speed, incisive passing and finishing.
I don't understand why everybody says Ribery had a good game. He is the main reason why BM didn't score. Although he didn't have a clear shot to score he shoot instead of passing the ball to a team mate who was in a better position. Watch the game again.

The Bayern team needs a overhaul, energy and fighting spirit is low. Lewandowski should be played as a goal poacher and should keep Madrid defense busy so they don't join the attack. They also appear to be low on energy. R madrid is vulnerable as their are defenders are attack -minded. Bayern only have themselves to blame. Missing chances and defending so badly that you allow a number of 2-on-1 & 2-on-2 situations will pretty much guarantee a loss against Madrid in the CL. Too good, too savvy and too lucky (not a criticism). Injuries didn't help the flow and quality of the game, it was a pretty poor watch in all honesty given the calibre of player competing. As a spectacle, I'm hoping Bayern score first and early at the Bernabeu. I also hope Alaba is back for that game because Rafinha was on an absolute wind-up tonight.
@splint3r Bayern created 8 good scoring chances. Against no other team in Bundesliga they had so many good opportunities as against Madrid. Also Madrid didn't allow that many good chances against them all season long. So it was Bayern who dispatched Real ,not the other way around tonight...

Even with CR7 having his worst game in a while, Real was still in control and never looked like losing this game. Also, they kind of played at 70-80% at most. They definitely did not play at full force.

Real Madrid was lucky. They had some very poor individual performances. Bayern's first goal is really funny at this level. It was a big collective error by Real Madrid. Given how Real Madrid have performed lately, anything could happen in the second leg. The referee was phenomenal and he controlled everything really well.

The simple tactic of crossing a hundred balls per game to Lewandowski works in the Bundesliga, but against Madrid it's more about being present at the midfield, and being able to nullify Modric and Kroos. There is this hate towards Real Madrid which is completely understandable given how successful they have been in UCL. There were mistakes only in Bayern's game. If it was all decided before the games, the referee wouldn't have whistled a wrong penalty against Real Madrid in the first leg and he could have easily decided not to whistle the penalty in the second leg when the game was 0-0. The second goal of Bayern could have been called offside as well if you watch the replays again.

But in case of best teams who actually play well in Champions League Real Madrid CF, Bayern, Juve, Barca and sometimes PSG cause some upsets,other than that none other team come close to these giants, Liverpool are football fluke so is Man City and Man Utd have gone downhill since the departure of SAF.. Imo, if Bayern is to win they have to approach this game more defensively minded. Like playing both Javi Martinez and Vidal at holding position and not playing both Robben and Ribery from the start. Tolisso should start imo, has been pretty good in CL.

Take last year for instance, if you consider the scoreline before the red cards Bayern was never behind the scoreline. @neumi17 if you are leading the game, you can sit back and defend. If the opposition cannot score, it's their fault. When Bayern scored, Real answered in ten minutes. Had they scored again, Real would've answered again. If the scoreline is 1-2 you can sit back and counter, especially if you see clown Müller kicking his own leg instead of the ball.

Real Madrid was lucky. They had some very poor individual performances. Bayern's first goal is really funny at this level. It was a big collective error by Real Madrid. Given how Real Madrid have performed lately, anything could happen in the second leg. The referee was phenomenal and he controlled everything really well.

@Boeree If you think football is corrupted at this level, you better don't waste your time on it ! There is this hate towards Real Madrid which is completely understandable given how successful they have been in UCL. There were mistakes only in Bayern's game. If it was all decided before the games, the referee wouldn't have whistled a wrong penalty against Real Madrid in the first leg and he could have easily decided not to whistle the penalty in the second leg when the game was 0-0. The second goal of Bayern could have been called offside as well if you watch the replays again.

Real Madrid's fullbacks are pretty good offensively which makes Bayern's wingers work a lot defensively (and we all know Robben and Ribbery are old so they get tired as the game goes on). Imo, if Bayern is to win they have to approach this game more defensively minded. Like playing both Javi Martinez and Vidal at holding position and not playing both Robben and Ribery from the start. Tolisso should start imo, has been pretty good in CL.

Despite this, they have quality players and should have a chance against any club except Real Madrid due to the reasons you just said... Take last year for instance, if you consider the scoreline before the red cards Bayern was never behind the scoreline. Sure, fouls must be punished and it might have indeed been a red card but the fact that the same punishment isn't applied to Real is just silly. If Martinez and Vidal were to receive red cards, the same should have been applied to Casemiro but it wasn't.
