Team News

Southampton
Liverpool
  • Jannik Vestergaard and Michael Obafemi are both ruled out for Southampton here.
  • Shane Long missed the 1-0 win at Brighton, but is set to be part of the squad after returning to training, which is a boost as Danny Ings is unable to play his parent club.
  • Mario Lemina is also back to full fitness and will hope to be involved.
  • Virgil van Dijk is a doubt to face his former club with a ankle issue, yet he is expected to recover in time for Friday's match.
  • Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are lacking fitness and are unlikely to be available for head coach Jurgen Klopp.
  • He could make two changes to the XI that started the 2-1 win over Tottenham, with Naby Keita and Fabinho possibly coming in for James Milner and Jordan Henderson, while Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri are further options in attack.

Prediction

  • Three wins from their last four has moved Southampton five points clear of the relegation zone and they'll be eager to land a third successive home league win when Liverpool make the trip to St. Mary's. They have lost only one of their last four at home to Liverpool, though the Reds will be looking to lay down a marker with Manchester City in FA Cup action at the weekend.
  • The Reds' late winner at the weekend pushed them back to the top of the table, but they could be second by the time this match kicks off. Jurgen Klopp's side are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches and have kept a clean sheet in their last four meetings with Southampton.
  • Saints have been solid at home of late, but Liverpool have the means to secure another three points here.

  • Liverpool can have a better season than quadruple dreamers

  • Salah match winning goal. Back to his usual high standards.

  • Hendreson in Liverpool win this time akp xD

  • @TetouanMorocco world class assist lmao

  • Start shining that trophy, Liverpool is coming to get it! Much respect to Petrol City, but only the best win trophies.

  • atellu bro really as expected sahhhhhhhh

  • Great goal from Salah to end his personal drought and a very important goal as well.

  • Scousers say that City get offsides too. City scores many goals and one of them is offside, Liverpool get points with them. That's the difference.

  • @Byakuya the more upvotes this comment gets, the happier the Liverpool fans are, because they know there are so many bitter knobheads hoping to see their team lose but they won.

  • Things go as expected ...

  • Liverpool slightly lucky. Offside in their goal build up.

  • Liverpool's defense is a little shaky nowadays, they could actually bottle the title race like the haters say.

  • @GioMonaldo They are going to bottle the title race. There is no "could" about it.

  • @uefalona No, mathematically they can still win the league and so can Real Madrid. Nothing is over until it's over.

  • @GioMonaldo I said they are going to, not that they have done already.

  • @GioMonaldo So people who don't believe in Liverpool are haters ? This expression has become way too inflationary.

  • @neumi17 Yeah. It's strange logic. But his thoughts people either love or hate Liverpool, nothing in between is allowed.

  • @neumi17 People who don't want Liverpool to succeed are haters. Liverpool is playing some lovely football, they deserve support from all of us not just Klopp.

  • @GioMonaldo They haven’t played good football in the last 3 or 4 months, especially not away from home. This was only the case until december last year.

  • @neumi17 Do you realise you are giving Liverpool the highest praise possible? No teams managed to play your idea of 'good football' for 38 games, not even City who spent twice as much. Nobody expected them to win the league, and yet they are this close with only 5 games left.

  • @arcglenum If you Google "Premier League 2018-19: BBC Sport pundits pick champions and top four" you'll see that 3 from 24 (Ian Wright, Martin Keown, Ruud Guillet) picked Liverpool to finish top. Not many, but not "nobody".

  • @MEHJones lmao alright, but if they have to pick by betting their bank accounts they'd have all changed to City without a second thought. Ian Wright is a Liverpool/Klopp fan and he just picked for sentimental values, the other 2 are just following the orders from the director in the studio to pick something else other than City, because imagine if everyone picked City they will run out of things to talk about and it's drama > reasons these days. Just watch ESPN and you'll know what I'm saying, same for Skysport's 'The debate', they always pick differently instead of going for the same side, all that to create the illusion of drama, when the show ends nobody cares since they've done their jobs.

  • @arcglenum BTW how come you support the pirates? :)

  • @arcglenum OK, you don't know that for certain but yes fair point LOL. Perhaps they should have to put money where their mouth is and bet at least 50 quid each.

  • @MEHJones *Gullit

  • Mane 2-1 Salah

  • Southampton 0-2 Liverpool

  • 2-1, 1-1

  • I would wait for team news an hour before the game.

  • Liverpool will crack under the pressure. If Soton play like they did when they beat Spurs at home 2-1 then they can grab at least a point.

  • @nexus747 Agreed. But then again Liverpool are not Spurs. Sure, they've bottled their chances of winning the PL on all three previous occasions, but then again Spurs have bottled pretty much everything, every single time. The Saints will have their work cut out for them and they'll have to battle hard to get anything out of this game. But it won't be a walk in the park for Liverpool either.

  • 2-2

  • very tight , liverpool to scrape it 0-1 firmino

  • @Foxeyrod Liverpool sucks away from home.

  • @neumi17- Best away record in the league, though their only loss and 3 of their 5 draws have come in the last 6 games so relatively bad compared to the first 10 away games.

  • @SteveHyland I am referring to the last 3,4 months

  • @neumi17- Yep, mediocre last 6 games and it looks like extending into the 7th.

  • Is Ings really allowed to play - isn't he on loan from Liverpool?

  • @skickahit10 No, the Premier League rules prohibit on-loan players from playing against their parent clubs.

  • @skickahit10 that he is. I thought his move was made permanent in January, as per an agreement in the initial loan deal, but it's not until the summer. Sorted now, and cheers

  • Liverpool Win, Trabzonspor Win, Marseille X2, Mainz 05 vs Freiburg BTTS @ 5.1

  • Even though I bet 2, that will be hilarious af if Liverpool B ends Liverpool's title dreams.

  • i see a draw 3-3

  • With Liverpool yearning to win the title and Saints looking to increase the gap btn them and relegation, this will be a tight match. Liverpool however has the best away record this season so I expect them to win 2-1, Ward-Prowse to score.

  • Since Hasenhuettl's arrival, Southampton have scored in every home league game and have conceded 3 goals in a game just once (Man City). While Liverpool have the quality to make this a 3-0 win, as is currently the most voted for scoreline above, I will predict a much closer margin. 2-1 Reds.

  • @SteveHyland Depends a lot on the officials. Southampton got robbed at old Trafford. The officials have shown a huge bias to the top six in the Prem. Saints can win this game if it's officiated properly in my view.

  • @Champion- They definitely can win and have played well in most home games since Koenig Ralph took over. They were excellent against Arsenal, though Liverpool don't defend so naively.

  • @SteveHyland You can see my point here. Liverpool with an offside goal. Makes football so hard to predict when the officials have such an influence in this league.

  • Hmmm.. maybe this is the match they will finally bottle it. Both teams to score.

  • @rradox keep copy pasting this comment til May.

  • @arcglenum Don't get me wrong, I want Liverpool to be champions, but they have been insecure of lately. My comments are based on a betting perspective, so you will never see me copy pasting a comment.

  • @rradox - From a betting perspective, it's the Premier League so Liverpool doesn't have a single match with 100% to win, they'll always have a % to draw or lose. So you could copy and paste this to every match, because it's true to every match. They always could, may, might lose points.

  • 1-1

  • Virgil van Dijk will be a big loss if he is injured.

  • Southampton win.

  • @Champion Saints are real threat at home. Glad no one takes it serious!

  • @rradox And now no one takes you seriously.

  • @arcglenum ooooh :( so sad :(

  • @Champion you taking drags ?

  • @YairProMoreno taking from drags
