So, this is our best of the worst defense combination at the moment........... Kolasinac gets MOTM by sky good performance with Xhaka too...........worst player Elneny.
@ClassicGon- Glad to hear Kola received MotM from Sky, the rating system on here often undersells defensive performances, though it has to be said a lot of that is not the fault of WhoScored. He was excellent today although people will say "It's only Burnley". He along with Xhaka, Iwobi and Bellerin were the players I thought we'd see the biggest improvement from come the end of the season. Emery is very good at moulding FBs who have talent there to be moulded. Elneny was useless, regularly caught on the ball and unable to make even simple passes forward. One of Wenger's worst signings but I'd use him in pointless games just to give Torreira a rest.
I think there are some kind of troubles with Arsenal central backs, like disarragements between them, lack of communication, etc. I think Xhaka is playing at bad position, he's not a pure defender.
@dib- Xhaka is doing a job for the team. Not aimed at you, I have read some people slagging his performances off. I'm pretty sure if you put Aubameyang in CM, he'd suck as well. Granit should be applauded for giving his all despite hating playing in defence. We have severe injury troubles atm. Mavropanos is close to being match ready. He was very good last season, just hope he can continue to develop.
Arsenal could be without up to eight players so Unai Emery may shake things up after two defeats in a row, including Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final loss to Tottenham.
dear Emry, please do us a favor ; don't put ( koscielny and monreal) in the XI ( even if you have to bring from arsenal B)......those two players are really 1000% done with football, am happy for the lose against the souton and the chickens just for emry to realise that we really need at least 3 players in january ( 2 defenders and 1 midfielder) or we gonna have 0,000 benefits at the end
I don't think Emery knows his best XI or even team's best formation so he'll probably keep adjusting his team against opposition for some time. There's plenty of fixtures coming in a short time so home match against Burnley is a perfect chance to rotate in order to keep the squad fresher. If you can't rest Torreira against Burnely, when can you rest him then? Also Bellerin and Xhaka should be given rest, even if Bellerin would be fit in time. Özil should start this one despite speculation of exit since Burnley's defense will cause Arsenal lot of trouble and Özil could be helpful against deep-lying defense. Ramsey could start next to Gendouzi after playing deeper role against Tottenham in the end of the defeat. I'd go with 3-4-2-1 Leno;Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac; Gendouzi, Ramsey; Özil, Auba; Lacazette. Arsenal's high defensive line was horrible against Spurs but I doubt Burnley will exploit that as effectively. This could still be tough for Arsenal: 1 or 2-0
@Castle- Bellerin is out for a few weeks according to the latest reports. Whether that is 'injury plus recovery' or 'injury, recovery, rest' I'm not sure but he is supposedly unavailable for a few weeks nevertheless. As for Emery, I agree he still seems to be feeling the team out but some of that is due to injuries and a couple of players not being as good as maybe he initially thought (Ramsey and Kolasinac in particular). I also don't like playing too high a back line when you have a 3-man defence. The MCB is always going to be the furthest back and if they mess up the offside trap timing (like Koscielny did against Spurs) then the consequences will invariably a chance on goal which in the case on Wednesday resulted in a well-taken goal. Torreira 100% needs to rest and hopefully he will but I think Oezil is done as an Arsenal player. Ramsey doesn't have any final ball skill so I would be surprised to see us not make a transfer for a #10 in January. Even if it's a stop gap like Banega.
@SteveHyland I doesn't really matter whether Özil has a role to play for Arsenal in the next year or not, he should still start in this game to give others a rest. I think the problem is that he's not capable press with needed intensity and his defensive input isn't enough anyway (I was very surprised when Arsenal offered him a huge contract and then let Wilshere go). But against Burnley, there's no need for being overcareful and Özil could be important for getting 3 points here as Arsenal are very likely to struggle creating chances. Ramsey offers threat with his ability to get chances in dangerous positions and is very good box-to-box midfielder but I agree about his ball skills not to mention the fact he's no longer committed to Arsenal. I'm a fan of Banega, by the way, but I prefer to see him in a deeper role than no. 10, in which Emery has played him more often.
@Castle am agree with you on torreira ; the man needs a break , But (Koscielny, Monreal) those two we should never call them in PL or Europa league games ( just for the Cup)......hope Emry realise how much we needs new players in the back in january

Why did Özil play ? He is obsolete in this team ... 3 assists in 12 months.
@neumi17 look when they celebrate the third goal the man take break between them :) .......he almost died there
