Every year at Everton is an exact replica of every other one. NO matter who manages or plays. We are the very definition of mid table mediocrity. Never look like going down but never even look like beating the big boys or challenging the top 4. I love the club but the predictable monotony ( we'll finish 9th having lost to Liverpool at Goodison in a defensive display if you want to know ) is boring the socks off me.
@iluveverton- Everton have had small club mentality for the whole duration of my life as a football fan (coming up to 27 years) despite having won the league 9 times and the F.A Cup 5. They expended a lot of effort to nab Marco Silva, they have to regularly and unquestionably back him for the next few seasons now- right up to spending every last penny they are allowed under UEFA's fair play rules. The cycle of managerial short-term employment and all it brings is not conducive to building a squad that can challenge for champions league places in the modern footballing financial climate. A new stadium is also a must for the psychological lift it would bring the fans as well as players. Moshiri has the money to turn Everton back into a big club, even within the highly restrictive rules clubs face (which, unquestionably, has a larger negative effect the smaller the club is), hopefully he has the ambition- because that is what has been lacking for 3 decades imho.
3-1 Spurs in the first half, 3-1 Spurs in the second- I was correct twice. ;-) Son was unplayable today. His movement into space particularly good, though I have to say that Everton have defended poorly all season and this kind of hammering was coming. Gueye is a massive miss, as we can see, but even with him it looks as though you can get at the Everton back line on a regular occasion and this is down to Marco Silva's tactics, or lack of.
@falcon_ranger neither team had much of a defensive midfield due to injuries so it became almost a straight shoot out, in which case, no contest - sorry Everton.
Although Spurs aren't building up very well into the last third, once they get there they're so dangerous... Son is very good too. Everton not playing bad tho.
Spurs smashed Everton in both fixtures last season but I don't think it'll be so easy this season. Spurs are missing several useful players from midfield (Dier, Dembele, Wanyama) but Gueye would be a big miss for Everton. Both teams are likely to make meaningful chances from set piece and wing play situations. Should be an entertaining match. Everton 2-2 Tottenham.
I'd be surprised if Lamela didn't start. Pochettino has rotated more than ever before so he'll unlikely to hesitate dropping one of his first choice AMs. I'm not sure if Rose will start as he had cramps against Arsenal so Davies could return to his position, although he's been impressive as CB lately. Everton are a difficult opposition but their form has dipped so I'd expect them to struggle to get points here, particularly if Gueye isn't available. Draw is possible but I agree with 1-2 prediction, although Spurs could rotate some of the players who started midweek.
