one simple word for this match : Fernandinho
before the ball can reach the front 3 he cut it down and even in the box didn't let them have any freedom
beside that the way city defend the shot are pretty creative in this match
3-4 player go in the line and one in front of them +the GK that strange technique save them from 2 goals if i recall
@otmae- Agree. Fernandinho is the second name on the team sheet (after Ederson), for me. He is integral to how City both attack and defend. He is to City what Busquets was to vintage Barcelona.
@divyanshme lol You Barca fans mention this statement every where so much that they seem overrated to me. People consider Busquets as best DM and you'll say he is most underrated. lol As of Rakitic, he isn't in top 15 mids in the world.
@stefanm He wasn't that great. In the first half he was quite active but not very accurate. Yet still better than anyone else besides Agüero. In the second half he became mostly invisible and had a lot of bad passes and technical errors. The goal was great of course but also a bit lucky. Without it, it would have been a mediocre performance by him ...
Today everyone realize the greatness and the hardness of 03/04 arsenal season........Only One Unbeaten
- city today plays against XI liverpool players + a referee
- Van dijk + Alisson proves that they're the best in their posts, and what liverpool done till now is because of them ONLY
- Ederson is an average GK, fernandinho dominate the MDF, Aguero is world class
Guardiola kind of did what Sarri did against Liverpool in the first half of the season. It worked for City because Liverpool's luck finally ran out. Liverpool are beatable, Chelsea would have beaten them if Sturridge hadn't got really lucky with his equaliser in that game.
@splint3r you're right, there are more than 3 games this season liverpool were lucky to be undefaeted in, actually if they plays against full arsenal squad the past round they were already defeated, Klopp must pray to Van Dijk and Alisson will injured next matches.
That was an outstanding game, I don't think this Klopp's side have ever been under more pressure! Excellent performance from City and deserved win, although Liverpool didn't make it easy for them either and had their chances for at least a draw. Hopefully Liverpool can keep up the same quality for the rest of the season as City will get big reinforcements with de Bruyene and Mendy getting back to the team.
@Castle He was offside ffs...they showed the slow-motion..the thing is the ball did not go to him so it wasn't called obviously. The ball first went to the middle (Aguero?) then he played the ball to the left by which time he was already out of it but the ball didn't go to him anyway...so clearly no offside called.
@uefalona Am not a city fan but the facts must be told : for the previous summer only : van Dijk: 78,80 Mill. €, Alisson: 62,50 Mill. €, Naby Keïta: 60,00 Mill. €, Fabinho: 45,00 Mill. €....liverpool this season is another city , PSG and chelsea in the field
City very lucky in this game, they had at least clearances off the line. I must say tho, Liverpool's FB's played terrible today defensively...the amount of time Van Dijk and Lovren were left alone in the open is ridiculous...I would understand if it was counters but they were doing it while defending/transition phase...
@neumi17 Liverpool had three goals denied by clearance off the line...one by 1.1 cm...then they score a goal off the post that took a deflection from the defender...and you have the never the call both teams lucky? LOL...get some glasses...
I don't really agree with Klopp's aproach on the first half of this game. 4-3-3 is a mistake on this current Liverpool, expecially aginst City, 4-5-1 with Firmino behind Salah works so much better. Aditionally, Fabinho is in a terriffic form recently. Alisson is missing 90% of his long passes and Wijnaldum MIlner Henderson trio didn't convince me. I hope Keita or Shaqiri sub in for Wijnaldum soon so Liverpool have more attacking force so we can beat City.
@leZickzack Why didn't you expect them to play well ? They always look good vs ManCity and this season they are on top of their game. I think they played much worse than expected in the first half.
City are showing their class as expected, although they were lucky not to concede in the first half. Interesting how Bernardo Silva is playing much deeper role than David who's performing lower level than usual. KDB may be subbed in for him. Fernandinho is really showing his importance, though. Shaqiri could help Liverpool turn the game, but City have things under control and only mistake from Stones or Kompany would probably prevent them from winning.
lovren and taa are weakest link defensively. It's bemusing to see how bad they are alongside van dijk or robertson. Moreover, i guess it's wijnaldum who is in the right side with them. It's not the best partnership on this team tbh.
Sane and Silva are sabotaging City's efforts, Pep should sub them off immediately! You can see the frustration on Aguero's face, he tries to give his best and then there's those two losers gifting balls to Liverpool like it's still Christmas!
@GioMonaldo What are you talking about ? Sané was the only player who did anything at all offensively besides Agüero ! In every dangerous situation he was involved.
@Yassine_1 That was a mistake by the entire defense...it's especially communication issue as they completely forgot about Aguero and then no one yelled to Lovren he is coming up from behind him.
@Yassine_1 What do you mean? That wasn't a mistake by Allison, no goalie in the world would have stopped that ball. The shot came with 200 km/h from 3 meters.
@neumi17 He’s wasting so many chances. Other than that he’s great but if you watch him regularly you just wonder how Liverpool still manages to score the amount of goals they do with him being so inefficient.
Danilo, stones, kompany, laporte as the back 4... seems to me Pep is saying screw trying to defend and lets go for 5 goals haha! Not sure what to make of it but i think this team will favor LFC. City are NOT going to blitz them, qnd if they try to simply outscore liverpool i think their defense will suffer greatly. With the odds so heavily in favor of city, the money has to be on liverpool for me
Wow...So many people predicting results in favor of Liverpool...For me this would be kind of obvious Manchester City win, or in the worst case draw...But Manchester City should win in normal conditions.
I think today we will see an open game. The squad and the teams speak for themselves, I noticed that Klop uses 2 schemes, against the top clubs 4-3-3 scheme, against the weak and middle ones 4-2-3-1 scheme, I call this scheme super attacking so friends today will see 3 goals and more....both teams are in good shape....
Koop is a complete idiot I should have mentioned again and again. This is a 1 point secure away match. If he insist to use an attacking form, please sack himself! (He did the same mistake against PSG in UCl)
Personally I think there some value in both teams NOT to score at 6/4. Although it’s highly likely both will score . I think Liverpool will be happy with a draw and will perhaps play for one and play defensively hoping to catch City on the break. If City can be smart and be weary of this they may be able to stop Liverpool scoring and on the flip side I expect aliverpool to do all they can to stop City scoring. Some value at 6/4 for me
Expecting a pep masterclass tomorrow. Title race pretty much over if City lose. I expect Pep hasn’t slept the last week and has analysed every area he can to ensure City win this game and get back in the title race. Klopp is a thorn in Peps side at the moment so I’m pretty confident City will get something from this game, also remembering City *should* have won the reverse fixture if not for a rubbish Mahrez penalty. . If not, fair play to Liverpool and they deserve to win the league.
@neumi17 Pep got his tactics spot on in the reverse fixture. If I’m right in thinking he’s the only one who has managed to stop Liverpool scoring at Anfield this season. And if not for a missed late penalty would have come away with all 3 points.
@nekt- 1: Alisson is generally very good on the ball, even when pressed. There have been notable instances this season where he has made an error with his feet but every single ball-playing GK has at one time. You want to invite the press if you play out of the back since it enables one or two passes to take multiple opposition players out of the game, paramount if you don't have a typical #9 to lump the ball up to and if you want to retain possession. 2: That would be ironic given Fernandinho's comments last season and strange given Liverpool tall core (6'4" Van Dijk, 6'3" Lovren, 6'2" Fabinho). 3: That would play into Klopp's counter-attacking tactics and did so in the Reds' 4-3 win at Anfield last season. 4: Liverpool are "Very Strong" at defending set pieces. 5: Salah would prefer to face an attack-minded FB like Danilo at LB than one who can defend. 6: This would suit Klopp who's Liverpool side is yet to lose a shootout with Pep's City (EPL & CL combined).
@rram uhm, any result other than a liverpool win is a win for the BaldOne... So no, ManCity Cant afford to lose this game and still maintain title hopes... GO LIVERPOOL
@Nico1 man! the second part of your statement is literally what "has nothing to lose" means. these kids remind me of that big character from Guardians of the Galaxy lol
@Nico1 Which is why they have no reason to hold back. Even a draw isn't enough. I think he's right though, Liverpool will probably make great use of their counterattacking skills and I just can't see City outscoring them. Should be an entertaining game either way.
tough call here ... . big game anything can happen .. but it's a must win for city so they will go all out means a lot of spaces
for counter-attacks ... . i think a draw or liverpool win ( X2)
First 10 min of game will be wild, City will try to break Liverpool and score early. Most of their attack will come from Sane and Aguero on the right side with Lovern and Trent defending. Expecting Klopp to overload that side a little with Gigi and Fabhino. If City is not able to break LFC in first 10 mins then expect Pep to be little conservative knowing his defense is still shaky and falling 10 points behind will be too much.
Going for a 2-3 Liverpool win, even though I think it will be 1-1 draw.
Fair to say there are a lot of people who don't want Liverpool to win this game. City look like the league's last hope. They lose at home, they'll be 10 points behind with 17 games to go. Still a long way, but considering Liverpool are yet to lose a game in the league, that would be some gap to close. Title is not won in December, but it can certainly be lost in December.
@Flapjack Would rather Liverprool win than Man City because it gets boring if one team keeps winning the title. I speak as a neutral who supports a team that’s not won the league before
@Flapjack- I would have thought those who desperately do not want Liverpool to win the league would also desperately not want Man City to either (ie Man Utd fans). There aren't many, open, Everton fans on here.
Last season, it was Liverpool that broke Man City's invincibility in EPL. This season it will be the other way round. Time for revenge!
100% sure win for Man city. I would be perplexed if City don't revenge. Any scoreline that wins for city will do it. Most probably 2:1
City have to win and Liverpool generally score which makes both teams to score the best bet here. If De Bruyne was playing , I could see chances of city outscoring Pool but I’m not sure they can do so here . Goals galore
So the guy who predicted this score is definitely a Liverpool fan! Bookies have City as heavy favourites for this tie! Liverpool are seeking a draw here and City have a full squad this time. With likes of KDB/Bernardo and Mahrez on the bench, D.Silva and Fernandinho back in the team you are looking at a full squad! This Liverpool side battered the sorry Arsenal in the end but first half Arsenal were the better side, more possession, more chances created and more attempts even though 2 goals were gifted to Liverpool in first half! Good luck to both as I am a neutral!!
City 4:2 Liverpool
@albgunn You do realise whoscored is a statistical website? They don't just have some guy picking out random predictctions. The predictions are made by comparing stats of the 2 teams from previous matches.
Klopp will presumably go with a 4-3-3- Fabinho in the centre of midfield with Wijnaldum and Henderson flanking him. The fact Jordan came on against Arsenal instead of Naby Keita suggests that will be the case. It would mean Shaqiri sits out. Going with the 4-2-3-1 would give them more attacking threat but I'm not sure it is worth the risk in a game Liverpool don't need to win. There should be enough opportunities on the counter, City knowing they need to win even this early in the title run-in and having to be fairly progressive against a miserly defence. There have been some entertaining games between these two under their current management, hopefully this is another. 2-2.
Liverpool will not win this, close to 100%, the match Liverpool start to lose and remain Looserpool in PL, Zvezda-Pool 2:0, Napoli-Pool 1:0, PSG-Pool 2:1...City-Pool 3:1
for all who vote 3-1 to city ..how city gonna score 3 goals in a team just Conceded in 20 match as much city Conceded in the last 7 games ..2-0 or 2-1 for liverpool
@pqrstu15 anything is possible with a big game 1-0 will still be a win, liverpool are currently on a run of clean sheets but not scoring like city . city will put one in their net.
you have 0 clearances from Sane but he made a clearance near the end of the match are you sure your stats are accurate?
LOVREN 7,22 ?!? Are you serious? That guy was so poor that I have no words! If Gomez had played this game Liverpool would have won this 0-1!
Forget it, I was looking on the preview board ;)
one simple word for this match : Fernandinho before the ball can reach the front 3 he cut it down and even in the box didn't let them have any freedom beside that the way city defend the shot are pretty creative in this match 3-4 player go in the line and one in front of them +the GK that strange technique save them from 2 goals if i recall

Kompany and Fernandinho both should have 8.
leeeroooy saneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

how on earth has Sterling got a higher score than Sane??? surely that is a mistake.
@jmarlow Right before he scored, he did a very bad pass that could result in Liverpool's victory. Along with many bad crossings
@jmarlow Sterling had 3 really good moments and about 5,6 really bad ones. In the 80th minute his rating was still 6,9 ...
@neumi17 i know then his rating jumped up suddenly, Sane should have been MOTM
@jmarlow surely you must not have watched the game
Fernandinho 6,9?!! Did you watch this match carefully?
@andnik Today is 6.8. It turns out this is not a constant. I need to see a rate in a couple of weeks.
@andnik hehe you see, the is a beast today
is it true that sterling offside on 2nd goal, before he pass to sane?
@pasopati no offside
@pasopati Yes, but he did not influence the game.
@pasopati Not at all, Lovren was positioned deeper than him.
@moo13 did you mean Aguero? (who was offside in the build up of the 2nd goal). Sterling has the assist for that goal and he was not offside..
Oil vs Football. Oil won.
@uefalona Come on mate. Liverpool are a similar vastly expensive and massively well paid collection of mercenaries. No real difference.
@uefalona Football vs deluded idiots. Football won.
I finally guessed the score! just won a cool 88 cents :D
@GioMonaldo :-))
City very lucky in this game, they had at least clearances off the line. I must say tho, Liverpool's FB's played terrible today defensively...the amount of time Van Dijk and Lovren were left alone in the open is ridiculous...I would understand if it was counters but they were doing it while defending/transition phase...
@moo13 Both teams got lucky several times
@neumi17 Liverpool had three goals denied by clearance off the line...one by 1.1 cm...then they score a goal off the post that took a deflection from the defender...and you have the never the call both teams lucky? LOL...get some glasses...
@moo13 And get better behaviour ...
@neumi17 Says the local troll...
@moo13 Shure, I am known for insulting people here all the time ...
Cool, the PL is exciting again. Great fight ...
wtf is firmino doing behind Mohammed salah and larporte in right back with walker on the bench
Shaqiri in the 91st ...
Liverpool to taste defeat here.
Lovren is super awful.
Cold water
Great goal by Sané !
I don't really agree with Klopp's aproach on the first half of this game. 4-3-3 is a mistake on this current Liverpool, expecially aginst City, 4-5-1 with Firmino behind Salah works so much better. Liverpool is playing way better than I expected..
@leZickzack Why didn't you expect them to play well ? They always look good vs ManCity and this season they are on top of their game. I think they played much worse than expected in the first half.
@neumi1 Because of their away performances this season in the champions league against PSG, Napoli and even Red Star
@leZickzack And Chelsea.
@leZickzack Liverpool is the best team on the road in the PL
City are showing their class as expected, although they were lucky not to concede in the first half. Interesting how Bernardo Silva is playing much deeper role than David who's performing lower level than usual. KDB may be subbed in for him. Fernandinho is really showing his importance, though. Just wait until big Shaq comes on.
@TheFanboy17 Hahahahahahaha
i hope someone doesnt die from shock from the result of this game
Thank god there is goal ruling technology now ! Otherwise Liverpool would have led 1-0 ...
lovren and taa are weakest link defensively.
I hope it's over now with the hyping of Allison. He's horrendous and Liv needs to look for another option.
@Yassine_1 That was a mistake by the entire defense...it's especially communication issue as they completely forgot about Aguero and then no one yelled to Lovren he is coming up from behind him.
@Yassine_1 Lovren should have blocked a shot on goal from Aguero. His guilt here is more.
@Yassine_1 What do you mean? That wasn't a mistake by Allison, no goalie in the world would have stopped that ball. The shot came with 200 km/h from 3 meters.
@neumi17 he wasn't even close to stopping it. But I am more concerned with his erratic playing of the ball today.
It's over now!
@nekt What ?
How bad is Sterling ?? Really bad ball control, really bad decisions making !
@neumi17 Sane much worse than Sterling
@GioMonaldo Both are bad, but Sterling is just awful.
@GioMonaldo No, not even close
David Silva is completely off ! First his ridiculous attempt on goal and his passing is bad too .
@neumi17 mane is worst
@Mohamed_Shaker You think ? Didn't notice that many bad passes. He got unlucky with his shot or was it incapability ?
@neumi17 He’s wasting so many chances. Other than that he’s great but if you watch him regularly you just wonder how Liverpool still manages to score the amount of goals they do with him being so inefficient.
City are yet to have a shot on goal. According to Opta, this is their longest wait for one in the Premier League at home since October 2016
@nekt They had a shot on goal 3 minutes before you posted this ...
20 minutes no shot both team...
@yoyo What did you expect ? They are neutralising each other on a very high level. That's also good football.
@yoyo that is SHOCKING
I'm already SHOCKED and it's only 5 minutes in.
@uefalona I am still SHOCKED and it's been 15 minutes ... :-P
ill be shocked if Liverpool don't win 12-2
@Madcat Well you guessed City's score right
@Faaiz I was absolutely SHOCKED
@Madcat. 0-0
3-4 to Liverpool, Salah (17), Mane (22), Aguero (27), Sterling (33), Firmino (47), Aguero (54), Salah (77).
@Geolardo Did Salah actually play in this game? I didn't see him.
I'll be shocked whatever the result!
YOU'LL NEVER BE SHOCKED ALONE!!!!!!
good adrenaline evening
Danilo, stones, kompany, laporte as the back 4... seems to me Pep is saying screw trying to defend and lets go for 5 goals haha! Not sure what to make of it but i think this team will favor LFC. @uefalona or a washout
match forecast says There will be a low number of cards shown .... I'll be SHOCKED!!!!!!!!
Easy win to be SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy win for Manchester City. At most a draw for Liverpool.
@leZickzack I'll be shocked if Liverpool do not win 3-1.
@leZickzack Exactly what I think
I have prepared myself to be SHOCKED!!!!
Wow...So many people predicting results in favor of Liverpool...For me this would be kind of obvious Manchester City win, or in the worst case draw...But Manchester City should win in normal conditions.
LFC 1-0
3-2 city, liverpool defence to crack yo
@flephmang u said this lat time they met too.
@offside last time at the Etihad was 5:0
Should be X2 or Under 1.5 for home. great odds for both..
2-2 maybe, tough bet
I think today we will see an open game. The squad and the teams speak for themselves, I noticed that Klop uses 2 schemes, against the top clubs 4-3-3 scheme, against the weak and middle ones 4-2-3-1 scheme, I call this scheme super attacking so friends today will see 3 goals and more....both teams are in good shape....
BTTS&over 3,5
I'll be shocked, surprised and disappointed if I see You Walking Alone.
Liverpool haven't beaten any top side away from home this season so I wonder where 3-1 will come from.
@jefferee They beat Spurs away, but I see your point. No way this is 3-1.
@Boeree Spurs are not a top side, mate. That's why.
I'll be shocked if City manage to score more than 1 goal.
Koop is a complete idiot I should have mentioned again and again. This is a 1 point secure away match. If he insist to use an attacking form, please sack himself! (He did the same mistake against PSG in UCl)
Nothing special... Draw and boring game.
I am shocked
1-3
draw wud b a risky but smart bet
@dakeithh a draw wuv Pep pulling out his Hair
Personally I think there some value in both teams NOT to score at 6/4. Although it’s highly likely both will score . @Jonnyh140109 Pep is absolutely clueless against Klopp. He loses 7 Out of 10 games againsts hin ...
@neumi17 Pep got his tactics spot on in the reverse fixture. If I’m right in thinking he’s the only one who has managed to stop Liverpool scoring at Anfield this season. And if not for a missed late penalty would have come away with all 3 points.
Guardiola's six-point plan 1. Press Alisson 2. Long balls 3. High defensive line 4. De Bruyne taking corners 5. Danilo at LB 6. Attack, attack, attack
@nekt- 1: Alisson is generally very good on the ball, even when pressed. @SteveHyland Peps City beat Klopps Liverpool 5-0 last season.
@Jonnyh140109 There was the small matter of a red card.
@alwatp They would have still beaten them without the red card.
@alwatp correct but Peps City have still beaten Klopps Liverpool as previously misadvised by another user.
@Jonnyh140109- I actually said "shootout" which is a specific type of match.
ManCity has nothing to lose here and Klopp loves when his opponents go that way, Liverpool win for sure
@rram uhm, any result other than a liverpool win is a win for the BaldOne... So no, ManCity Cant afford to lose this game and still maintain title hopes... GO LIVERPOOL

tough call here ... . big game anything can happen .. but it's a must win for city so they will go all out means a lot of spaces for counter-attacks ... . i think a draw or liverpool win ( X2)

@SteveHyland Most United fans are desperate for City to win it as they don't live anywhere near Manchester so don't understand the rivalry with City.
@Flapjack Fair to say there are a lot of envious people who don't want Liverpool to win this game. Fixed.
City won't score more than one goal. Expecting a 1-1 draw
Liverpool win.
Last season, it was Liverpool that broke Man City's invincibility in EPL. This season it will be the other way round. Time for revenge! 100% sure win for Man city. I would be perplexed if City don't revenge. Any scoreline that wins for city will do it. Most probably 2:1
@PimpimActuary Cheers, mate!
City have to win and Liverpool generally score which makes both teams to score the best bet here. If De Bruyne was playing , I could see chances of city outscoring Pool but I’m not sure they can do so here . Goals galore
Support neither side. Cannot see a 3-1 result for the Reds at Etihad. More likely 0-0, 1-0 (either way) or 1-1.
@albgunn Arsenal were better for 5–10 minutes, not the entire half. After the goal it was all Liverpool.
@albgunn You do realise whoscored is a statistical website? They don't just have some guy picking out random predictctions. The predictions are made by comparing stats of the 2 teams from previous matches.
@Nico1 I don’t believe the predictions here are stat based. WS hardly ever gets the results right here!
Ballsy prediction whoscored. Pool would take a draw right now.
@alwatp what motivation does ze German Meister have to go for a draw, u must be kidding, Klopps gunning for that shinny Kopf today for sure...
@alwatp I agree with you. It's a pretty ballsy prediction.
You can't be serious with this prediction, Whoscored.
@splint3r why not? City aren't the same when they don't play with their blue trinity (Kevin, fernandinho, David S.) I predict city 1-2 Liverpool
@nekt You aren't as ballsy as whoscored then, they went with 1-3.

Liverpool will not win this, close to 100%, the match Liverpool start to lose and remain Looserpool in PL, Zvezda-Pool 2:0, Napoli-Pool 1:0, PSG-Pool 2:1...City-Pool 3:1
for all who vote 3-1 to city ..how city gonna score 3 goals in a team just Conceded in 20 match as much city Conceded in the last 7 games ..2-0 or 2-1 for liverpool
x2
3-1.
2-1
Man city 4-3 Liverpool
@shakes I will be shocked if city don't win with one goal margin
@shakes Liverpool haven't conceded more than 1 goal in any PL match this season. Can't see them letting in 4
@shakes It's difficult to score 4 goals against Liverpool's superb defence this season.
@pqrstu15 anything is possible with a big game 1-0 will still be a win, liverpool are currently on a run of clean sheets but not scoring like city . city will put one in their net.
