Brazil were at their best when Belgium went defensive in the 2nd half. Not sure why they attempted to shut up shop so early considering their counter attack was working wonderfully. I feel there was at least another goal there for Belgium, maybe 2, but it is academic now since they are through anyway. Neymar should have been booked for diving, not sure why he wasn't, but Brazil should have had a penalty.
@Sinaj Well he shouldn't have got himself suspended... it's his own fault.
they had 27 shots, maybe if the amazing casemiro was playing upfront he might have done what coutinho/neymar/willian/d.costa/firmino/jesus couldn't do?
@WillyBooby No, he would have fouled Lukaku and stopped the counter attack to the second goal. Also probably wouldn't have made an own goal and would have limited to counter attacks from Belgium.
Defending is as important as scoring.
Amazing tactic from Martinez, de bruyne as CF and lukako as a Winger and false 9 . Stupide line up used by Brazil manager he always use this sh**ty Jesus. Why didn't he use Douglas and firmino ? They were great, at least better than Jesus and willian. When they came they changed the match. I loved what belgium have done and I hope they win the cup.
@excalibur Malo does not exist in portuguese, but it's close, it's mal
There's mala tho, "handbag", which is a slang for a annoying person. So some people call him Neymala
@BSN probably meant from a russian word malo as little or nothing
I don't really know and can't speak russian, though I have some experience with the language
Jesus,willian,fernandinho,paulinho would not even cake it to brazil team in ronaldo rivaldo and ronaldinho generation,and they all made it in starting 11 now what more can you say
@KlaasJanHuntelaar That's the cruelty of stat driven rating systems, no credit is given for positional play or hold up play. It's a pity because I'm sure most will agree that was a brilliant performance.
@baker God just messaged me to tell you this was your last granted wish. If you want to continue wishing then you have to purchase the premium package!
Was no penalty because Jesus had kicked the ball far off the pitch before he was kicked by Kompany. There can't be a penalty given, if the ball is not on the field.
@neumi17 It was fair to not give a penalty but rulewise it's 50/50 and ref's decision. If Jesus had no longer a possession of the ball is it fine to kick him in the leg? Ball was still on the field on the moment of contact. It's the same if ball was high up in the air and no team had a clear possession, but Belgium player decided to kick Brazilian player in the leg inside the box. In second case ref would give 100% penalty.
All mentioned Fellaini is a huge key player for Belgium . He has defended brilliantly and great build up play. I thought Belgium would be too much for Brazil if Fellaini started. It must be said however, Firmino should come in for Jesus now if Brazil want to have a chance. His movement and work rate will be more effective. Lukaku, De Bruyne and Hazard have all been very good and very sharp. Brazil are going to struggle to keep Belgium under 4 goals in this game. Their best bet now is Firmino on for Jesus and go for it, and just hope Belgium are wasteful on the break. I still think Fernandinho needs to sit deep and sit in more like Casemiro, he's scored an own goal and is also offering the defence no protection..he's had a bad game in all senses.
@libehv His all round play is very good for a player so tall, and he can fill in at CB when needed or become an extra centre forward. Plus help in build up play and set pieces both ends. Very useful player indeed and at times is like having and extra player (or extra half a player perhaps) due to overall contribution and that is clear in this game. Glad to see him start as he's very underrated and undervalued by casuals.
@Champion As mentioned * and I predicted a Belgium win if Fellaini started..however, Belgium must keep on it second half and make sure, no complacency and push for a 3rd and 4th.
@edemex I think his finishing is great, the only thing that can/will be improved is his first touch can sometimes be a bit heavy, but he was great today.
@stefanm Fellaini, KDB and Hazard too very good. Neymar awful so far yes, Meunier and Fellaini have blocked Neymar out the game with excellent defence. Neymar had half a shout for a penalty (Meunier) but apart from that anonymous and bad
@neumi17 Yes with Fellaini in too. Fellaini is proving to be a good technical player in build up and excellent defensively as I expected in pre-match analysis..
Just what I thought, Brazil has been sleep walking so far imo. Squad hasn't been up to the talent thats on paper. Also have ot wonder how Fabinho didn't make this squad. He can play at RB and midfield where Brazil has been struggling.
50/50 game, everything is possible. Belgium is a bit better offensively and more creative, whereas Brazil is very good in defence and also pretty solid in creating dangerous situations. I go for a 2-2 in regular time and than ... don't know actually :-)
Player by player. (ok...different lines up setting). Lets try:
Cortois > Alisson
Meunier > Fagner
Thiago Silva > Company
Miranda > Vertoghen
Fernandinho = Alderweired (different positions, both defensive functions)
Marcelo >>>>>>>Carrasco or Chadli..or whoever want to be left back or left winger in the World
Paulinho = Witsel (both bad)
Coutinho = K de Bruyne
Willian > Mertens
Ney > Hazard
Lukaku >>> Jesus
How does it sounds guys?
@CJK Courtois is not better than Alisson (overall, forget this match). Thiago Silva is worse than Kompany. Miranda is good but so is Vertonghen. Jan has the edge here. Alderweireld, when inform, is likewise better than any Brazil defender and obviously Fagner. Witsel = Fernandinho both nothing special (the latter has been shit for quite some time now). Willian = Mertens, Hazard=Neymar. Lukaku=Firmino.
If Belgium plays like this they have no change. Fellaini and Witsel need to play together on this one, with De Bruyne more up front. A defense with 4 would even be de ideal
I believe in Belgium . I know they almost got done by a good Japan team but Brazil have not been overly impressive. Serbia created a lot of chances against them but withtout any quality to finish them. Belgium also have a plan B and are way more powerful, just look at the average height sizes. I think they’ll get through with a couple set piece goals. Their crosses In the box will always hit lukaku or fellaini, Brazil don’t possess this. 2-1 Belgium
i believe this game Martinez will be outcoached by Tite, Belgium would not handle it, they will have some chances but wont score, Coutinho will score, Belgium will score back from Hazard and in the end some pen from Vert will kill it for Belgium.
Once again world cup is world cup,,,, i wont go with just a big name brazil but i will go with the facts, is brazils defence good to stop lukaku? Is brazils forward good to go through kompany, vertongen and alder? I go with a draw at 90minutes.
@Michaelbrown Fore sure. The Brazilian defence is the greatest in national teams alongside Uruguay. Atacking is as goog as France ( ir Bob Firmino nailed in). Brazil beats 2 :0
@martinkamenarski OMG... 100% Party still active. despite so many discredits. All Bookies loves you guys sooo
much, but not your wives. Oh sorry 100% Party members have no wives actually :D
Belgium's best chance against Brazil is to adapt a hybrid of a 3-4-3 with the ball and 3-5-2 without the ball. Dembele needs to replace the ineffectual Mertens and De Bruyne should be pushed up to a right inside forward next to Hazard and Lukaku. Neymar rarely tracks back and De Bruyne can exploit the spaces. Without the ball, Belgium will go to a 3-5-2 shape with Dembele, Witsel and De Bruyne forming the midfield trio, that way they are not overloaded by Brazil's extraman in midfield. Also, Chadli should replace the underperforming and possibly mentally weak Carrasco.
@excalibur I think Belgium should have 5-3-2 while defending and with wingbacks pushing forwards during possession and CMs staying on edge of the box, wingers cutting in and Lukaku playing Target man and playing those 1-2s, will be their best way of attack... with Hazard and Mertens making Defence splitting runs, crosses coming in from wingbacks and KDB being the PLAYMAKER just like for Man City, they can possess some threat to Brazil...
Hoping for 2-1 against Brazil...
@excalibur Mertens indeed hasn't been at his best on the right side of attack and it would be very risky to play with only KDB and Witsel in front of defence. For 2-0 goal against Japan, there would have been three Brazil players blocking the shot instead of only Witsel against two japanese. Dembele would really bring dynamism into midfield as he likes to bring the ball forward and is excellent at one on one situations. Chadli could improve Belgium's left flank but I'm not sure how he'll manage against Willian who was very good against Mexico.
@excalibur- I agree with pretty much all of that. I wonder why Martinez doesn't fancy Dembele in CM despite all of his (Roberto's) club teams aiming to control possession and dictate play. He is the best player in Belgium's squad for that type of game-plan yet he is on the bench, KdB is forced to do more defending than he should and Mertens goes largely anonymous with the exception of a couple of regulation key passes.
Fellaini must start. His aerial threat due to enormous size and in fact great build up and link up play is needed. Belgium height won't be relevant unless Fellaini is on too, then it could overwhelm Brazil on set pieces and crosses due to the sheer size of everyone else too..but Fellaini is great in the air, strong and clever body positioning and more important a good header of the ball (something Lukaku must work on especially heading the ball). Belgium need that extra help in defence and build up of Fellaini desperately and he transformed them against Japan. I honestly thing if Fellaini starts Belgium could cause an upset, otherwise I think Brazil might edge it. Either way an interesting encounter, two high quality teams.
@Champion I'd rather not watch Fellaini in a WC quarter final. Or at all, even. It's enough having to watch all the awful flopping about that' been happening at this WC, I don't want to watch Captain Elbows on top of that.
@Champion Another "expert" pretending to know things he doesn't know. You made up your little story about Fellaini, you like it, and now you're sure you're right.
@Gronounours well when you look on Champion’sprediction record and yours i rather listen to him and your comment sounds little bit ridiculous then but no hard feeling against you :)
Brazil will open the score with a screamer from Coutinho in 1st half. Then score a second time with a Firmino header at 25 minutes into 2nd half. Belgium will pressure Brazil and open spaces for a counter attack and Neymar's game. He'll assist Fred (replacing paulinho) for the third goal at injury time.
Brazil 3- 0 Belgium.
Brazil to the semi finals, Belgium go home and cry.
GG.
Toughie! Tough to predict. I'll go for one bold prediction: Neymar to dive @ 0/1. Seriously though, I think it will end after 90 minutes with the score 2-2. From there on it could go either way. Brazil is missing a key player in midfield to frustrate the Belgium creative midfielders with Casemiro. Fernandinho is a good substitute on the other hand. I would like to see Fred play, but Brazil is missing a lot of players. Dani Alves, Danilo, Casemiro, Douglas Costa, Fred (recovering from injury). The Belgium team is fully fit.
@StickandMove "Seriously though, I think it will end after 90 minutes with the score 2-2. From there on it could go either way."
The score could also be 2-1, 1-2, 3-0, 1-1, 2-0, 1-4, 0-1, 5-2, or 0-0. You just don't know, your guess is of no value.
neymar actually impaired brazils offence
我的马儿啊~ 心疼巴西
@mingery1 我是比利时的粉丝
Hey Guys , in the game neymar had 59 passes and not 54, you should fix this mistake.
That is the importance of Casemiro
Fernandinho with a hall of shame performance,
Hazard showing his superiority over the show pony diver Neymar / Neymalo. What a detestable cheat Neymar is.
@excalibur Neymalo???
@BSN "Malo" in Portuguese and Spanish means "bad"
@excalibur Malo does not exist in portuguese, but it's close, it's mal There's mala tho, "handbag", which is a slang for a annoying person. So some people call him Neymala
@BSN probably meant from a russian word malo as little or nothing I don't really know and can't speak russian, though I have some experience with the language
Good riddance, we won't have to suffer through Neymar theatrics anymore. BYE BRAZIL the plane awaits you
@Riah Good riddance indeed.
I think Belgium will win the World Cup. I said they would win by 3-2 here.
Belgium were very poor second half and a bit lucky with VAR. Still, I'm happy Belgium win. Only European teams left now.
@Champion What means lucky with VAR? Cortuois greatest player of the game with 9 saves. That’s Football and that’s we’all love this game.
@CJK Because it was a penalty
@Champion Yeah, they stopped playing. It's awful to watch but understandable when you're facing a team like Brazil.
Jesus,willian,fernandinho,paulinho would not even cake it to brazil team in ronaldo rivaldo and ronaldinho generation,and they all made it in starting 11 now what more can you say
@svetoslav You're forgetting Roberto Carlos, that Brazil with those " 4R" was superb.
Hazard is unbelievable. The only way to stop was fouling on him.
@takenbywine Bruyne > Hazard
@MathCatsFootball You need both ! Perfect footballers with different strengths, that everybody needs.
@MathCatsFootball absolutely
@MathCatsFootball Different styles. De Bruyne isn't a dribbler.
G
you know what? i hope russia wins the world cup. that would be the peak of this world cup
@BarcaPlsLetMeDown ha-ha russia is the single team in last 8 that must be stay at the group stage
@BarcaPlsLetMeDown that would change the doping rules in this game and that would be a huge progress
@BarcaPlsLetMeDown That would be totally awesome.
Courtois GOD MODE tonight
@stefanm He didn't have that much to do...
@neumi17 yeah, ONLY 9 Saves .
@stefanm Only two that mattered
ByeBye DiveMar
At least Brazil belongs to the 8 best teams of the world.
@neumi17 like russia what's the shame
Worst game of Neymar in years. I have counted 6 technical errors so far ...
Lukaku only 6.6?
@KlaasJanHuntelaar That's the cruelty of stat driven rating systems, no credit is given for positional play or hold up play. It's a pity because I'm sure most will agree that was a brilliant performance.
@Lucas_10 I think Miranda did a good job in the matchup with his tackles, specially in the 2nd half.
@KlaasJanHuntelaar 6.6 seems harsh for Meunier as well, get points for dribbles that go nowhere but not for working your ass off for the team
God save Belgium!!!
@baker God just messaged me to tell you this was your last granted wish. If you want to continue wishing then you have to purchase the premium package!
@MathCatsFootball No way this time Brazil were favourites. So, Belguim at the final and guess what... CHAMPIONS!!!
Brazil have been pretty dominant in the 2nd half..this has been a great match.
Firmino is so much better than Jesus, I wonder what Tite's problem is.
Brazil much better now in 2 nd half. 2-2 would be nice to see extra time of this great game ...
Costa is not the man that Brazil needs
@neumi17 He was the best available option though.
@MathCatsFootball True, in the end he produced some decent runs. Generally he is more a shotgun, than a sniper rifle though.
It's the same if ball was high up in the air and no team had a clear possession, but Belgium player decided to kick Brazilian player in the leg inside the box. In second case ref would give 100% penalty.
@neumi17 That's it, precisely.
Brazil aren't far from scoring their first goal. I hope Belgium manager makes some change to amend this problem.
Poster " Gronounours "...looking a bit silly now aren't you?
All mentioned Fellaini is a huge key player for Belgium . He has defended brilliantly and great build up play. I thought Belgium would be too much for Brazil if Fellaini started. @Champion Zidane Fellaini is the master of this sport, his footwork is noticeable on the pitch
@Champion As mentioned * and I predicted a Belgium win if Fellaini started..however, Belgium must keep on it second half and make sure, no complacency and push for a 3rd and 4th.
casimero was a beast in all brazil matches but fernandinho is just awful, he can't do his job well.
@7ussein Fernandinho is indeed terrible, I don't understand why he isn't playing his position and role..he's lost the plot mentally
Lukaku is a fantastic striker ! Big, strong, physically powerful, yet mobile, technically brilliant and very good in dribbling. Perfect striker ...
@neumi17 But is he as good as Peter Crouch? /s
@neumi17 he is great in the right system, like playing counter, he does have weaknesses like finishing
@edemex I think his finishing is great, the only thing that can/will be improved is his first touch can sometimes be a bit heavy, but he was great today.
no casemiro...No Defense.
Courtois and Hazard amazing today! Neymar awful in first part ...
@stefanm Fellaini, KDB and Hazard too very good. Neymar awful so far yes, Meunier and Fellaini have blocked Neymar out the game with excellent defence. Neymar had half a shout for a penalty (Meunier) but apart from that anonymous and bad
@stefanm that's his usual state
@dzvinka No, he is awesome player in general.
looks like the world cup is now euro 2.0
What a juicy game!
Belgium plays perfectly
Belgium is even technically better than Brazil...
@neumi17 Yes with Fellaini in too. Fellaini is proving to be a good technical player in build up and excellent defensively as I expected in pre-match analysis..
@neumi17 true that... brazils right side is forced back all the time. loved the game plan
Just what I thought, Brazil has been sleep walking so far imo. Squad hasn't been up to the talent thats on paper. Also have ot wonder how Fabinho didn't make this squad. He can play at RB and midfield where Brazil has been struggling.
Brazil are in deep trouble now...
1-7 incoming again....
wow belgium are actually showing real quality
Brazil are in deep trouble now.
0-7 anyone ?
Wow, Belgium is so much better...
@neumi17 yeah 100% Party members must be so confused now :D
hahahahaha
Brazil - 0 : Belgium -1
@iii even now ;)
Belgium going for set-piece strat with fellaini and chadli starting. this should be a good tactical match in every perspective. hard to predict tbh.
Its Best Dribblers vs top scorers today!!! Can't wait to see Neymar winning Oscars though...
@Cosmicsword203 Who are the best dribblers ? You mean Hazard, Januzaj, Carrasco, Lukaku or de Bruyne ?
50/50 game, everything is possible. Belgium is a bit better offensively and more creative, whereas Brazil is very good in defence and also pretty solid in creating dangerous situations. I go for a 2-2 in regular time and than ... don't know actually :-)
Divemar keep rolling rolling rolling, keep rolling rolling rolling, keep rolling rolling rolling
im sorry but where is the lineups?
Brazil 1-0 Belgium +85 min. goal
Brazil win
btts & over 2,5 - the best bet. Not easy game for Brasil but however they should go through. 2-1 coutihno, jesus, lukaku
both to score for sure
2-3 Belgium wins
@anjumskhan 2-3 (-1 each) = 1-2 belgium won
@anjumskhan No bro. My buddy Neymar has to win here. :*
@anjumskhan I your dereams :)
@anjumskhan I hope

@jan30 As if Belgium wouldn't score .. : ))))))
If Belgium plays like this they have no change. Fellaini and Witsel need to play together on this one, with De Bruyne more up front. A defense with 4 would even be de ideal
Belgium simply can't control games against decent sides. Brazil will win 4 1 here I reckon. Hope it's closer than that but not convinced.
3-0 Brazil if Belgium plays with 3 at back. If Martínez try to fix their terrible defense transition and putting 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, 2-1 to Brazil.
@favieremark Freakish analysis
draw 1-1

i believe this game Martinez will be outcoached by Tite, Belgium would not handle it, they will have some chances but wont score, Coutinho will score, Belgium will score back from Hazard and in the end some pen from Vert will kill it for Belgium.

Paulinho also serious doubt. He missed training today...
Dembele or Fele must start over Mertens or their midfield will be crushed.
If Japan were smarter after 2-0 Belgium would be out. I don't think the team I watched vs Japan can kick out this Brazil from tournament.
@Patrikovic Especially when Neymar is at his acting best...
@Patrikovic we dont compare like this in football.
