Team News

  • Filipe Ferreira were injured against Benfica last time out and will not feature here. Mauro Cerqueira will likely substitute him on Saturday.
  • Jota is also an injury concern for Nacional. His place in midfield should be filled by Palocevic.
  • After a catastrophic 10-0 defeat to Benfica, Costinha will probably make wholesale changes here. Felipe, Nuno Campos, Witi and Rochéz, who didn't start last time out, will probably be part of the starting XI against Feirense.
  • Edson Farías, Babanco, Philipe Sampaio, Luís Machado, Edinho, Caio Secco and Tiago Mesquita are all injured and will not feature on Saturday.
  • New coach Filipe Martins opted for a 4-2-3-1 against Sporting, with Tiago Silva playing as a playmaker. Despite losing, the team have responded well, so he's expected should stick with it the same formation here.
  • Steven Petkov scored a beautiful goal on Sunday and will push for a start here.

  • Nacional supporters will demand a reaction from the team that lost by a 10-goal margin last time out. The pressure is on here, especially for Costinha, whose job might be on the line.
  • Feirense remain winless since August, which has thrown them into the relegation zone. They're now six points away off safety and will be desperate for a win against a direct rival in the battle to avoid relegation.
  • Expect both teams to adopt a cautious approach here given their current form, which could turn this match into a goalless draw.

Comments (1)

  • Nacional's loss raised a lot of questions on the team and this game might be crucial for the rest of their season. A win here would help establish that their last defeat was a really bad day and it would help sink Feirense and get closer to assure staying in the top flight. In the other side, if Feirense wants to stay in the top flight, this is a must-win for them. There won't be many opportunities for them like this one and they still have a lot to climb in the table to assure safety.
