Rubbish performance to say the least. The idea that a back 3 gives us any better protection defensively over a back 4 is a false one. I'd suggest Emery looks at the stats. This is bordering on head-in-sand tactics. If he wants to have a back 3 to get Kolasinac (who was our only decent player tonight) further forward then he can achieve that against 'lesser' opposition by playing a DM deep when in defence so that the CBs can be split wide. The crappy pitch didn't help but the fact is, yet again, we should have gone in at HT ahead. Mkhitaryan and Lacazette missed excellent chances. This was a game BATE were hoping to keep at 0-0 but our shambolic defence and profligacy up front meant the result turned out far better than in their wildest dreams. I have no fear that we will lose this tie but we could have won the tie in this game. A 3 or 4-0 would have allowed us to play the kids in the 2nd leg but now we have to play a strong team (minus Lacazette) which will eat into EPL preparations.
@stefanm- Only Guendouzi of the starting XI was not signed by Wenger s this is still vey much his team. The softness in defence is certainly Arsene's fault. You don't change the whole culture of a team in 9 months.
@richard.jonker- And Arsenal went on a 22-game unbeaten run earlier in the season. There is often a "Honeymoon Period" with new managers. Both Arsenal and Man Utd lack the defensive solidity required for Emery and OGS to fully implement what they want to do long term.

@SteveHyland That new guy at Manchester United seems to have done it in a few months.

@richard.jonker replied to for posterity, when it all goes to sh*t with OGS.
So Arsenal can't beat (master)BATE Borisov, a team equivalent to the 4th division in England? LMAO!!!
@uefalona And Real almost got fucked by Ajax kids.
@uefalona Lot's of excuses here though.. shitty field, travel time, park the bus, low interest to win.. tie here win at home. I had low expectations..
MEME
Lol, muhahahahaha . Wenger in ! Emery out !
Arsenal = Joke team
Aubameyang to score 3 in the last 15 minutes.
Arsenal win by 2goals.
Bate - Arse , The away team really should be the winners but I think we will see under 2.5 goals
@Fromhell Agreed.
Ozil is out too.
If Signevich moved to Ferencvaros how can he be in the staring 11 of Bate?
@Badtips whoscored is wrong.
