Arsenal
Man Utd
- Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected back in training this week but Friday's clash against former side Manchester United may come too soon for the Armenian.
- Héctor Bellerín has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, meaning Stephan Lichtsteiner or Ainsley Maitland-Niles will deputise for the Spaniard.
- Mesut Ozil has been in and out of the team all season but will hope to feature against United on Friday night.
- Unai Emery has not been afraid to play the kids in cup competitions this season but it remains to be seen whether he will employ this tactic against United.
- Chris Smalling has returned to training but will not be considered until next week at the very earliest.
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled out Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini for Friday night's FA Cup fourth round trip to Arsenal.
- Alexis Sanchez has been tipped to start against his former club, while Romelu Lukaku may also get a rare start here.
- Luke Shaw has overcome illness that ruled him out of Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton and should start here.
- Expect some changes to Solskjaer's usual XI, with Eric Bailly also now available after serving a three-match ban.
Ole Ole Ole Ole .... Ole Ole. Waking up from the nightmare of Mou
I had a bad feeling about this when I saw Sokratis injure himself. I should expect it though, injuries in droves and at crucial times has been the leitmotif of the Emirates era. I have to give credit to Man Utd, and Solksjaer in particular, tonight. I remember when Roberto Martinez's Everton went to the Emirates a number of years ago and Lukaku played an identical role to the one he played tonight. Ole must have watched videos of Romelu's good games against us and decided that was the way to go. Well, it worked. The similarity between how Wenger used the FBs and how Emery likes to is close enough to suggest that starting Lukaku wide, having him play behind the FB and look for counter-attacking options where he could drift inside and be 1v1 against the CB would work. We created a couple of chances but Utd were clinical and are valid winners. With Holding's ligament injury, Sokratis' knee or ankle and Koscielny's suspected broken jaw, I am set for a runout against Cardiff.
Arsenal not any different to what they were under Arsene. No better. No worse. Exactly the same flaky team.
@iluveverton- That may look true superficially but there has been a change of attitude at the club. This type of performance happened under Wenger for the last decade of his reign. Emery will not tolerate constant failure from players. He gave Neymar a bollocking because he neglected his defensive duties and Oezil has been cast out so if the "stars" can fall foul of Unai's ruthless streak, you can bet the rest are far from safe. If a player isn't up to scratch, Emery will get rid. The problem is whether the club will back him how they should. I have my doubts.
People bringing up Sanchez record for United, he's proved that nowadays you're only as good as your last match based on his performance. Won't be long before Lukaku is banging in the hat tricks too & Rashford.
@Geolardo Alexis under Ole: 163 mins played | 1 goal, 2 assists. Finally allowed to play.
last 8 games for jose: 2W, 3D, 3L last 8 games for ole: 8W impressive
Just gonna sit here waiting for the Gunners' excuses such as "they injured our players intentionally" and so on...
Virus cured.
Old United are back . Glory Glory Man united !
Oh the irony, United is playing like Mourinho wanted them to play, (relatively) stable in defence and deadly on the counter.
@leZickzack The difference is United defended higher up the pitch and left at least 2 players up front when defending. With Mourinho he defended deeper and just hoofed up to Lukaku.
@leZickzack Mourinho used different personnel and shape to Solksjaer. Name suggests you are American.
@leZickzack Yeah, only because the players didn't play for him like it usually happens in his third season.
@leZickzack How is it ironic. Many teams do that when they play top teams away... Jose wasnt really criticized for parking the bus away. He was criticized for doing it at home to teams like Burnley
@khonda I do think that he was criticised for parking the bus away. „Not Manchester United like“ and so on. Btw how‘s saying that many teams park the bus away an argument against him being critizied for it? Many teams park the bus and yet you can be critizied for it.
OZIL IN, EMERY!!!! DON'T BE A STUPID, YOU MAY EMBARRASS YOURSELF, BUT NOT YOUR TEAM!!!
@3dshanty7 0-1 since Özil got in ...
:DDDDD ok, bye bye gunners
@static_user bye bye gunners anyway
@static_user why, united haven't gk this particular game
@KiraFabri What is gk ?
@KiraFabri ok maybe I rushed a little bit, both defences weak
Arsenal, the master of dribbles
@neumi17 no judgment, but why do you care so much about dribbles?
@leZickzack Successful dribbles is often what makes a difference (except Neymar ;), who sometimes just dribbles to show the opponent his superiority which is not helping the team, this was especally visible during last WC)
@leZickzack Because every successful team in Europe has good 1-1 players in their team exept for Arsenal. It's one of the key elements in modern football, especially on the wings.
@neumi17 thanks for the clarification. :)
What a pass from Lukaku!
Both teams not to score
@footballover not even half time and you got it massively wrong
@footballover Are you competing with SeuneMilmas of who gets the most repetitions ?
Arsenal will make a surprise to beat Man Utd this time... 2-1, It's enough for Solskjaer to enjoy his successive victory
@3dshanty7 No surprise here. ManU keeps on winning...
@3dshanty7 I'll be shocked if Man Utd do not draw 2-2. Expect Sanchez to score.
2-2
Stephan Lichtsteiner in the starting lineup = Arsenal will concede a goal 100%
@Cannavaro69 yes off course, but The Gunners scored twice
@3dshanty7 Twice !!!!? which match you was watching ?
Both teams are playing their best teams.
win for utd
I've bet on Sanchez to score against his old club, he should have a good game, with United to win in a double with Taylor to score and Bristol City to win & 1-3 United, 4-0 Bristol City.
utd x2
Comfortable Arsenal win here, 3:1. 7 unbeaten run for utd ends today.
@PimpimActuary Strange prediction
United win 2-0. Close match and Arsenal will dominate possession while United will be clinical and play counter-attacking. Dont worry about De Gea, Romero will do just fine and put in another strong cup performance for us
BTTS&Over 2,5
Guests win !
Manchester United win
Who Scored change his prediction, well done!
1x i think
Given the likelihood of Arsenal not finishing in the top 4, this is a competition we could/should (?) look to win. I would therefore play the XI who started the game against Chelsea barring Bellerin, who looks to be out for the rest of the season, in the same formation (4-3-1-2). Maitland-Niles to start ahead of Lichtsteiner and Jenkinson. The way we approach this game will be different to the Chelsea one but the truth is that you can adapt any formation to suit the opposition therefore you can use the same formation against any opposition. Countless examples of this exist. I think we need a settled first team (with the possible exception of Koscielny, who probably cannot play every 3/4 days) to build momentum. Our 22-game unbeaten run earlier in the season was impressive but not faultless. There were also some similarities in the 'league' teams which retained a feeling of familiarity. The 4-3-1-2 will also allow for Suarez to slot into seamlessly, if he ever signs. Just my 0.02p.
@SteveHyland if we get that trophy and the europa league I will consider this season as a good one, about Bellerin we will really miss him for the rest of the season ( when he plays our attack bacame more effective and aggressive). our hope is sign suarez this january since we can't bring defenders.
just hope for De Gea to not wear spider-man suit hehe like he did against spurs, otherwise that team is average
@ClassicGon , average? So you think Arsenal are great ? United have players like Rashford, Martial, Pogba (not mentioning ex gunner Sanchez ) and you think it’s average team ? A team doesn’t keep winning just because of a good goalkeeper
@footballover by saying average am not talking about players ( cuz ManU spends money as much as chelsea and, city and liverpool those last 5 yrs, ManU can have two good teams by those players only) but they haven't figure out their best XI yet, and if you watched their game against spurs you'll figured out how much De Gea helping them ( like their previous game against us in the PL , De Gea is outstanding otherwise their strike of 7 undefeated games were already off.
@ClassicGon , a team need to score goals to win , not just saving goals. De Gea is outstanding but he has been superb for long time now . United are not an average team , they just didn’t have a manager who could play the players in right order with motivation. Look what Ole has done
@footballover if you read what I said you'll find that's the same as what you said : they just didn't figure out their best XI , that's why I said they're average ( accourding to their starting XI only)
@ClassicGon You people can go on about De Gea, but Lloris made 2 world class saves in the first half that stopped United from running away with it. Had they gone in to half time 3-0 down the game would have been wrapped up no problem. And United can actually rely on De Gea, he makes world class saves every week, and has made like 2 mistakes in the last 5 years.
@khonda thanks to god I watched the, otherwise and according to your talk ; lloris were better than De Gea in that game ( for your information De Gea also make superb saves during the first half ) and by saying De Gea is the that why they win that game is not a shame (every team need a goalkeeper like DG ) it's a compliment and in the same time revealing the truth about Ole bad reading that game ( cuz spurs dominate the pitch)
sure win for arsenal here.
@erastus How can you give such a prediction 16 days in advance ?
