All this talk about how Tott was missing Kane and Son (as if Son is suddenly this world class player).
Tott was playing today with four former Ajax players. Its bench was bought for more money than the entire Ajax squad cost. Ajax loses its best players every single season. There are no excuses. Ajax beat Tott and it would have beaten Tott even with a full squad.
@Yassine_1 Spurs have sold plenty of players too most notably Modric and Bale recently. If you look at the spending of spurs I believe it's about nil in transfers for about 15 years due to players going out as well as in. Your final sentence is pointless, not only can't you prove it but Ajax only won the game by 1 goal despite Spurs missing 2 of their best players and having their best defender injured before half time.
@Champion They lose their best defender, a former Ajax captain, and are able to bring in a world class player like Sissoko! Ajax team is younger, the players earn less money and they were playing in London. Tott loses players to Real Madrid, but the point is that Ajax loses its best to Tott.
@Champion But for Modric and Bale Spurs would have spent much more for transfers as all the top English clubs. Ajax academy is considered one of the best if not the best in the world. The profit from the transfers of Ajax and Tott and the clubs` transfer policy is simply incomparable. And by the way after Vertongen injury and Sissoko in - they played much better.
Is funny how many people are still underestimating Ajax, the team that were much better side in 1/8 and 1/4 against Real and Juve. Different kinds of excuses and "ifs". Everything could have ended for spurs in the group stages IF to be fair enough.
Vertonghen is ok according to reports, thankfully. How he wasn't immediately substituted is beyond me. My personal view regarding the incident is that if keepers are to be treated like China dolls at corners then they should also be banned from making punch clearances in traffic where their opponent is largely unprotected. Either that or keep the clearances as they are and allow 70's British football challenges on the keeper. I know who comes off worse.
Very lucky Sissoko wasnt playing from the start, what a beast.....he will be in the first 11 in Amsterdam Arena in de return mos def. And a real shame Ajax didnt push trough when Tottenham was moving up trying to score the 1-1. But still good result.
The most important thing is that Spurs didn't concede the second goal (although it was close). This makes the second leg as unknown as the first one (and btw that's great for every football fan).
Ziyech destroyed spurs defense and midfeild with only two brilliant passes one is better than the other, and left van de beek face to face with the goalkeeper haha, simply genius! it was van de beek's game tho, such an underrated tactical player, u can see him everywhere.
Spurs played better in 2nd half when they stopped playing defensively. Really bad idea against Ajax. I think with Kane and Son they would have won. They lacked good finishing. Bit surprised how even the match was.
@alx30 They lacked foremost good scoring chances. Son and Kane wouldn't have done so much better either, because they need to be fed too. It wasn't a matter of missing good chances but creating anything, that could be dangerous.
@Champion Yeah. I think Tottenham would win this match in normal conditions. Son will help in the 2nd leg, just don't know if it will be enough. Let's hope so.
@hellreaper Tottenham was only dangerous on headed attempts. Ajax will qualify easily, they have putted a leg on the final with this away win, u guys don't seem to understand also that even with the absent players the spurs had tonight, the rich team still have a way better squad, famous players whom suppose to find this opponent team easy. but they have done it against the almighty bayern, Madrid and Juve and now u think Son will help you? xD
@neumi17 As mentioned Spurs created a few big chances in this game from headed attempts. If a team like Barcelona is missing Messi and Suarez it struggles. Kane and Son are the same to Spurs.
@neumi17 Spurs had decent chances in this match: both over the bar headers by Alder, at least one shot on target by Dele, Rose's chance. They were dangerous on a good few occasions.
@neumi17 On the first free header in the box for Alder the commentators were screaming like school girls. That was a big chance. As long as there's a GK in front of you, no chance is a 100% scoring chance.
Good effort by Tottenham in the second half. But their measures were just too limited. Running, long balls, crosses and long shots are not good enough to create any danger. One shot at home says it all. Ajax was offensively not nearly as good as on the previous games but it was enough to beat a hard fighting but rather limited Tottenham ...
Tottenham will play much joyful match in the second half Vertonghen injury is a bless in disguise I wish him full recovery but you need players in attack before the injury Tottenham play 5 players in defense with Wanyama and Eriksen joining them that only left Lucas and Llorente up front now with Sissoko came in will give more freedom to Eriksen
@aymane.spur It was not more joyful but much better than in the first half. Yet it wasn't enough to create anything dangerous in front of the goal. Tottenham just lacks finesse players up front.
@wde.tac All Spurs ? They were fighting more but not a single shot on goal and no possession either. Tottenham is outclassed by Ajax. They can only fight and hope for standards ...
This is team I really want ta watch (Ajax) like >20 years ago . It is sad they will leave the club in the summer mostly. ANyway great football, 2x years olds having fun against 3x guys:)
Lucas is the man in form for Tottenham,Wanyama will have some work tonight and Lorente..... well he just score. Tott 2-0 Ajax (no more high score prediction).
Ajax have a great team and have proven how dangerous they can be. If Tottenham are going to keep the tie alive (without Son and Kane) there is no room for silly defensive mistakes (cough cough Trippier) and Lloris needs to be at his best. Moura and Dele may be able to exploit the wide areas behind the Ajax wing backs if they get adequate service from Eriksen and Toby. I suspect Ajax will score early and Tottenham will have to reply... being optimistic: Tottenham 2-2 Ajax.
Both these teams have surprised many people over the past few months so if someone claims to know exactly what's going to happen without hesitation, it probably says more about their arrogance than their actual insight.
Hard match to predict. Tottenham has lost recently but they're still playing at home which is always an advantage for any team. Also just because a team is not doing well in their respective league does not mean they'll have the same form in the CL.
I say 2-1 Tottenham
@neumi17 Nah, it was just because Tottenham is better, but I was expecting Son to play. It looks like I was the only one who voted him to be man of the match lol
Ajax are the favourites in this tie, I can see them exploiting Spurs' busy fixture schedule and large injury list. Ajax to beat a tired Spurs 2-3 in this one.
Wow as if any of you know what youre talking about; Ajax is an incredible squad with a lot of skill, momentum and youth. Besides a few injuries on the front and a suspension Tottenham still has a great defense and midfield and Lucas Moura is a hidden gem. You all seem to forget where many of our defenders have come from?
Tottenham will keep a clean sheet for sure, I don't know how this prediction come from but you must not forget that they kept a clean sheet against Dortmund and City and they have a great skilled attackers especially City
@svetoslav Luck ? Ajax was the much better side in all 6 games vs Bayern, Real and Juve. Actually Juve can be lucky that they didn't concede more goals ...
@ambrose Y sure yan you should chek yourself if you think that eiter of real and juve was in form and whit their best 11 in that games+ both teams vastly underestimate ajax.So y i think Totham will win this game.I gues you havent watched their games vs city
Ajax 2-1. Ajax very strong offense. Weak defense. Tottenham without Kane and Son in bad position to take advantage. Ajax don't seem to care where they play.
What the f happened here lol... Otherwise, I expect Ajax to win. They are fresh, had a lot more time to prepare for this game than Spurs and are on fire... Also, the hosts are missing key players in attack, so it'll be harder for them. I say 0-2
First 30 mins Ajax schooled Tottenham about Football. Since then, game was more even. Ajax has one leg in the final now.-
All this talk about how Tott was missing Kane and Son (as if Son is suddenly this world class player). Tott was playing today with four former Ajax players. Its bench was bought for more money than the entire Ajax squad cost. Ajax loses its best players every single season. There are no excuses. Ajax beat Tott and it would have beaten Tott even with a full squad.
@Yassine_1 "Its bench was bought for more money than the entire Ajax squad cost." - This is VERY untrue.
@MrNemobody They bought de Light for 500,000 Euros... lol
@Yassine_1 Dunno about kane... Spurs have somehow been playing better without him. However, Son IS a world class player and his absence WAS felt
@k.1 Kane is Tott's most gifted player, but the point is that they have proven talent like Ali, Moura, LLorente and Son to compensate for him.
@Champion lol that's anything but "recently"
I was supporting Ajax in this match but it's not fun to watch Spurs playing without Son and Kane.
Is funny how many people are still underestimating Ajax, the team that were much better side in 1/8 and 1/4 against Real and Juve. Different kinds of excuses and "ifs". Everything could have ended for spurs in the group stages IF to be fair enough.
@tar88s And drawed twice vs Bayern Munich in the 1/16s.
@DemonixX I think you meant the group stage, they totally deserved at least one win in these matches
Vertonghen is ok according to reports, thankfully. How he wasn't immediately substituted is beyond me. My personal view regarding the incident is that if keepers are to be treated like China dolls at corners then they should also be banned from making punch clearances in traffic where their opponent is largely unprotected. Very lucky Sissoko wasnt playing from the start, what a beast.....he will be in the first 11 in Amsterdam Arena in de return mos def. And a real shame Ajax didnt push trough when Tottenham was moving up trying to score the 1-1. But still good result.
And that was surprising how Llorente switched off in the 9th minute.
@TetouanMorocco- It's the Moroccan way.
De Jong is sublime, better than Arthur. Can't wait to watch him dominate La Liga next season.
Spurs are still in the two legged tie . They will understand tactically now and personnel wise how to play Ajax better plus Son will return
@Champion Yeah. I think Tottenham would win this match in normal conditions. Son will help in the 2nd leg, just don't know if it will be enough. Let's hope so.
@hellreaper Tottenham was only dangerous on headed attempts. Ajax will qualify easily, they have putted a leg on the final with this away win, u guys don't seem to understand also that even with the absent players the spurs had tonight, the rich team still have a way better squad, famous players whom suppose to find this opponent team easy. but they have done it against the almighty bayern, Madrid and Juve and now u think Son will help you? xD
@hellreaper Why would Spurs win it ? They don't create any scoring chances, whereas Ajax generates about 4,5 each game ...
@GioMonaldo Well, those weren't 100% scoring chances, that must lead to goals. They were attempts on goal but not super dangerous for Ajax.
@neumi17 On the first free header in the box for Alder the commentators were screaming like school girls. That was a big chance. As long as there's a GK in front of you, no chance is a 100% scoring chance.
@neumi17 A free header in box is considered a big chance.
Ajax forever in control with the excellent De Jong. Cruising their way to the final.
Sissoko is a beast. This match shows how important he is for Spurs. His influence for the game is unbelievable.
@fosfor85 his performance tonight reminds me of his game against Portugal on Euro final.
Name a more boring Champions League semi-final... I'll wait.
@splint3r To be honest it felt like the starter before tomorrow's main course in Barcelona.
@splint3r City - Real 2016
@Zootball I'll give it to you. :D
@neumi17 Their best two attackers are missing. Any team is struggling without best two attackers
@neumi17 Pochettino should drop Alli on the bench,he had no contribution in front,maybe Lucas , Son and Lorente can create better chances for spors.
lol
spurs is fnufnfe
@NuchalLine he'll yeah bröther
Ajax is losing control of the match now. They lose too many easy balls ...
@neumi17 High pressure by Tottenham that's why, supported by there fans also, Sissoko changed the game IMO.
Spuds win
2nd half belongs to spurs
@alxdru For a while ...
Neres is Ajax weak link, he tries too much to be like Neymar in a possession focused team.
first 30min all ajax but after that all spurs, tight game!
@wde.tac All Spurs ? They were fighting more but not a single shot on goal and no possession either. Tottenham is outclassed by Ajax. They can only fight and hope for standards ...
@neumi17 just fyi: (dt.) Standardsituation = (eng.) set piece ... might confuse people otherwise
@stuckonautomatic Yes, thx
@neumi17 yep but they controlled the game after they changed the formation
Glad to see the medics really took care to make sure Vertonghen was ok before letting him back on the pitch
Alli with 12 touches at halftime, Moura with 17 ...
I feel sick for Vertonghen. Never a nice thing seeing a footballer like that. Concussion is no a joke. Hope he's OK. it's good he's off.
It's getting so predictable now with Ajax, no surprise here. They dominate a limited Tottenham as expected and should win by more than just one goal.
Spurs will get back in this. Spurs win in play gents
@flephmang The hope always dies last but it dies ...
Ajax... wow!
Wait...Ajax's goal was offside... Is video referee disabled for smi-finals?
@hellreaper No, onside by 50 cm
@hellreaper Offside goals are are legit for all spain and uefateams in UCL
@hellreaper Trippier's right foot (non-planted) played him on. Neres was blocking the view.
@hellreaper common sense says that Neres was definitely interfering with play but under current laws it's a fair goal.
@hellreaper Nope van de beek wasn't offside, that was Neres. it's 100/100 clear mate.
@hellreaper Look at Trippier's trailing foot...
@hellreaper Obviously you're blind.
Ronaldo to score anyt... o wait
@uefalona you mean Benze... oh wait
Ajax have a great team and have proven how dangerous they can be. no Son no Kane for tottenham at WHL, boring 0-0 draw inc
Hard match to predict. Tottenham has lost recently but they're still playing at home which is always an advantage for any team. Also just because a team is not doing well in their respective league does not mean they'll have the same form in the CL. I say 2-1 Tottenham
@Carpena07 Funny
@neumi17 Yes your post is funny neumi, 30 minutes into the game at 0-1
2/0 Ajax, Ziyech MOTM.
Ajax to win 1-0, Tadic to score.
@AndreyNosatii I doubt it... I would say 2-1 for Tottenham
@hellreaper Any particular reason why ?
@neumi17 Nah, it was just because Tottenham is better, but I was expecting Son to play. It looks like I was the only one who voted him to be man of the match lol
Ajax are the favourites in this tie, I can see them exploiting Spurs' busy fixture schedule and large injury list. Ajax to beat a tired Spurs 2-3 in this one.
1-1
If you have scored six in winning away at Real Madrid and Juventus, you are not going to approach Tottenham’s spanking new stadium with any fear.
If Ajax play like they did at Juventus then they will easily.I cannot see Spurs scoring.Ajax midfield will control the game.
No one can bank on spurs without Thier key forwards. Ajax must be on roll today and should relish a great away victory Kom op Ajax
Tottenham will keep a clean sheet for sure, I don't know how this prediction come from but you must not forget that they kept a clean sheet against Dortmund and City and they have a great skilled attackers especially City
@aymane.spur I wish I had your optimism.
@aymane.spur You haven't watched any Ajax games apparently.
@neumi17 You haven’t watch Tottenham vs City in the first leg ?? City are far more superior than Juventus, Real Madrid and Ajax combined
@aymane.spur You just proved, that you haven't seen much of Ajax at all. They are the best and most skilled team in the CL season.
Shame Son is out. Llorente should start in my view if Spurs want to be brave and play on the front foot. Otherwise he will be on bench.
Llorente I’ll start instead of Sissoko. Tottenham will play a defensive tactic for sure to avoid losing away goal to Ajax. 0:0 / 1:1
Totham to win ajax luck to finaly runout
@svetoslav Luck ? Ajax was the much better side in all 6 games vs Bayern, Real and Juve. Actually Juve can be lucky that they didn't concede more goals ...
@svetoslav you should go for some lottery if 2 and 3 away goals from Turnin and Bernabeu are simply luck
@ambrose Y sure yan you should chek yourself if you think that eiter of real and juve was in form and whit their best 11 in that games+ both teams vastly underestimate ajax.So y i think Totham will win this game.I gues you havent watched their games vs city
The Dutch FA gave Ajax the weekend off - Poch gave the spuds the day off too...
1-3 , against Ajax's superior individual technical abilities plus their creativity Tottenham will not have an answer.
@neumi17 I would be shocked if Ajax could score more than 1 goal. This is obviously a very predictable 2-1 Spurs win.
@SeuneMilmas Hi Seune, what did you think about Liverpool's victory today?
1-3
@nexus747 I would be shocked if Ajax could score more than 1 goal. This is obviously a very predictable 2-1 Spurs win.
OVER 2.5 Goals
Ajax Will win 4-1 tadic ,neres,ziyech will score
Aja is the second best playing team tying seasonfter Barcelona, Any way Tottenham present themselves Ajax will win them 0 : 3
Without kane and son how Tottenham win
@mr.arman without Kane’s son how can Tottenham win
Spurs win 2-1
@watfordAlbert that's a daft prediction mate.
@watfordAlbert no kane ni son how Tottenham win
Ajax advance!
Please Moderators clean up this mess
Ajax 2-1. Ajax very strong offense. Weak defense. Tottenham without Kane and Son in bad position to take advantage. Ajax don't seem to care where they play.
The Jew vs The Jew 0-2
Admins, please ban the troll.
Lol Real Madrid are weak and juventus have a weak midfield, that's why Ajax beat them. Spurs won't lose here probably 2-1 to yids
I came to read 465 comments, it went i read 460 deleted spam messages. The struggle is real.
@martinkamenarski You're exaggerating, only 442 spam messages (yes, I counted).
from when natural fans stop supporting underdog...I hope tottenham win this one, otherwise 2nd lag is meaningless 2-1 home win!
What the f happened here lol... Otherwise, I expect Ajax to win. They are fresh, had a lot more time to prepare for this game than Spurs and are on fire... Also, the hosts are missing key players in attack, so it'll be harder for them. I say 0-2
1-3 ajax
0-2
holy cow, the spam is real
Tottenham 1-1 Ajax
2-1 ez for the Spurs. But I can see Ajax winning at home.
spurs to win
Are ajax really that good? surprised by the odds TBH
@angelo44 that odd is to scare bettors away bt i cant leave it
@angelo44 i am surprised at dat odd too
Fortress Spud breached again.
another defeat for spurs
It'll be interesting to see how Ajax handle being favourites here.
@MEHJones So so
Ajax win
1-1 eriksen man of the match
Kane injured. Son suspended. Ajax sure seems lucky
