Team News

Liverpool
Norwich
  • Nathaniel Clyne is ruled out for the home side after sustaining a serious knee injury in pre-season, though he was unlikely to have started anyway.
  • Sadio Mane has only recently returned to the club following his AFCON duties with Senegal, while James Milner has a minor muscle complaint and will be assessed ahead of Friday's match.
  • Christoph Zimmermann is ruled out for Norwich, as is Timm Klose, so Grant Hanley will start alongside Ben Godfrey in defence.
  • Louis Thompson and Alexander Tettey both sit out the trip to Anfield.
  • Ralf Fahrmann is set to get the nod between the sticks, while fellow summer arrivals Sam Byram and Josip Drmic are expected to start from the bench.

Prediction

  • Liverpool will be keen to quickly move on from their Community Shield penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City on Sunday and lay down an early marker for the coming campaign in Friday's Premier League curtain raiser. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 10 league meetings with Norwich, winning eight, so they'll be confident of coming away with all three points.
  • The Canaries may have come up as champions, but their lack of movements in the transfer window will be a concern to supporters. They did at least draw on their most recent visit to Anfield, holding Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in 2015, but are huge underdogs for this clash.
  • This should be a routine home win for Liverpool to start the season.

  • Liverpool will be second again from matchday first to 38th ...

  • Where are the strenghts and weaknesses in the match report.

  • 58% possession or 53? Who scored is inconsistent.

  • Norwich attacked fairly well. There weren't many teams who got into Liverpool's third as often last season but I suspect that Klopp will ensure it doesn't happen again.

  • Allison

  • Liverpool is at it again! You shall not walk alone.

  • Lucky Liverpool

  • I'll be shocked if Liverpool don't win the Treble this season.

  • Cantwell looks quality

  • Dear Whoscored. I ask once more. Why do you use Russian letters by describing Polish league and teams?

  • @staspytalski wtf? https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/176/Tournaments/76/Poland-Ekstraklasa

  • The Cyrillic alphabet isn't Russian. It's Bulgarian. Cyril and Methody, who invented it, are Bulgarians.

  • @agunchev - Bulgarians? Interesting. I mean, despite them being born in Byzantine Thessaloniki, educated in Greek, and never even having been to Bulgaria, that's an interesting spin on history for made-up national pride.

  • it was not Ciril/Methody invention. One of their disciples did it

  • @koziol.mutant - They did invent the Glagolitic script, because they couldn't write Old Slavic in Roman and Greek alphabets. But yes, their disciples only developed the Glagolitic scipt into the Cyrillic after they were dead.

  • Farke said they won't park the bus, I expect them to score one goal. Liverpool will score many goals to get in mood after last week. No Mane for Liverpool means they will generally use Salah's wing and he will be MoTM with at least 2 goals in my opinion. I used triple captain for him. 4-1

  • I do not expect a huge win from Liverpool. I see predictions for 5-0, 6-0 which I find too optimistic. Of course I expect a win for Liverpool but something like 2-0, 3-1, Norwich has Pukki in attack, he is a good player but he will have to prove that he is the man for Premier League games. In defense there are some injuries for Norwich tonight. Betting for a quick goal from Liverpool is interesting: scoring until the 10th minute for Liverpool you can find it around 4 which is nice. Also the pressure will be important at visitors' defense. "own goal" for Norwich is now around 10 which is excellent.

  • @Betmenu wow !own goal in 7th minute.i will follow your predictions from now :)

  • @Betmenu i agree with you but Norwich midfield is not up the mark so there is a chance for big win in favour of Liverpool

  • Liverpool to win, over25 goals match.

  • So it begins!

  • 2-0. Case closed!

  • Not often whoscored changes their predictions! They originally had it at 3-1 and changed it to 4-0.

  • @swagio That must be because of Steve's prediction bellow ;)

  • @Castle- Definitely.

  • 4-1

  • 4-0 Reds.

  • i dont think norwich have had a lack of movement in the transfer market. , they have signed a decent keeper in fahrmann, a very good midfielder in amadou from seville ( abiet today) and three squad players in byram, roberts and drmic... however even if they give a top performance , liverpool will win this. but dont despair if you get beaten by the teams at the top, your main battles are against teams like brighton and sheff utd.

  • liverpool 5-0 norwich salah hattrick ⚽️⚽️⚽️ firmino ⚽️⚽️ mane scoring comming from the bench ⚽️

  • @don11 5-0 or 6-0 ????? Dude...:)))))))))

  • 0-0 Fährman

  • Can Liverpool loan Suárez just for this one match?

  • @andrew7taylor They could bc La Liga starts next week.

  • It's about that time of year - predict the WS league banner picture lineup!!!! Nicolas Pepe is a huge signing for Arsenal, has to be in there. Man City have had a relatively quiet window (notwithstanding Cancelo's probable arrival) - so I look at someone who has oddly never featured in the banner for them, Kevin De Bruyne. About time! Marcos Rashford is expected to have a more integral role for Man Utd with Lukaku probably leaving - give him a shot! Liverpool have had no major signings so whaddya do? Of course, you simply give it to their biggest player yet to be given the banner treatment - Virgil Van Dijk! Pepe, KDB, Rashford, VVD. That's your lot. Oh, and Liverpool to win 2-0.

  • @dSquib- Agree with Pepé and VvD but I think Sterling and Maguire.

  • The banner either didn't load on my phone or it has just been put up. We have Ndombele, Ceballos, Rodri and van Dijk.
