Arsenal
Burnley
- Unai Emery fielded a surprising starting lineup for the season opener with Newcastle, leaving all of his new signings on the bench and starting the likes of Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock.
- The Arsenal manager has suggested Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac could both be available this weekend after missing their Premier League opener due to secruity concerns, though the former is a doubt through illness.
- Kieran Tierney has stepped up his recovery from injury but won't make his Arsenal debut this weekend and he is joined on the sidelines by Emile Smith Rowe. Granit Xhaka will also need to be assessed.
- Arsenal supporters will hope to see full debuts from Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe, but deadline day arrival David Luiz may have to settle for a place on the bench after the Gunners kept a clean sheet last time out.
- Following a 3-0 win over Southampton at Turf Moor and with no fresh injury concerns Sean Dyche may name and unchanged XI.
- Jay Rodriguez may have to settle for a place on the bench as a result, while new signing Erik Pieters will continue at left-back after his fine debut display.
- Danny Drinkwater will have to wait before making his Burnley bow as he continues to build towards match fitness.
Didn't see the game. Anyone give me an analysis? Especially about Burnley and Barnes. I would expect Arsenal to dominate more at home. I wondered about Barnes. Interesting player, full of self belief and confidence he seems to be getting better every game due to stubborn self belief and good attitude. 13/14- 3 goals (championship) 14/15 - 5 goals (championship) 15/16 - 5 goals (premier league) 16/17 - 6 goals (premier) 17/18 - 9 goals (premier) 18/19 - 12 goals premier. That's an interesting upward trend for a player's career. And now 3 goals in 2 games to start the season - I hope to see this continue from Barnes. Good to see Arsenal usually so many English players I like Maitland-Niles looked a good player when I watched Arsenal against Newcastle but can't comment on today.
Dani is brutal as number #10 I always said it. Problem in Real madrid was that , that position doesnt excist in Zidane scheme of how he views football. I knew Dani would be great in another team in that position
should i get ceballos on fpl or not ?
@Philm987I know nothing about this player, his history suggests assists are very rare for him. Anyone have ideas about what his end product is likely to be like over a season? Obviously he has quality of Lacazette and Aubameyang to potentially feed chances to.
@Philm987 no & never ,he is a good player but he is not about goals & assist ,there are better options than him for his value, also he will be in & out of arsenal team to trust him.
@don11 Today he was about that ...
@don11 stfup
Ceballos is a good No.10, but he is inferior than David Silva (City), Christian Eriksen (Spurs), Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - at least he is equal with Mason Mount (The Blues) or Andreas Pereira (Man Utd)
@3dshanty7 David Silva ? He is 33 years old and not nearly as good as he used to be ! Sadio Mane is a winger an technically way inferior to Ceballos.
@neumi17 I agree, Silva is far past his best as a playmaker. He requires a lot of talent around him now - but that is a lot from loss of speed and physical ability which is due to the age. Mane isn't technically inferior as such, their technical ability is deliberately different. Mane is technically very good at striking the ball in and outside the box for a winger, one of the best out there. Mane is a very good dribbler too. Mane isn't at all a number 10 though, he's a wing forward or a centre forward / second striker so an irrelevant comparison.
@3dshanty7 wow tell us something new.
@3dshanty7 sadio mane no 10??? you are the idiot of the day.
@don11 on paper The Reds did not play with the playmaker, but Mane does No.10 job on field...
@3dshanty7 shanty, they use two wing forwards and a false nine / complete forward. Firmino is the closest to acting like a number 10 at times as sampo suggests.
@3dshanty7 may be you mean Firminio??
@3dshanty7 good thing u just assume that depends on 30 minutes of the game
Old arsenal disease is consistency, especially during the 90 minutes of a game...
Emery likes Pochettino... Nelson and Willock over Mkhitaryan and Torreira
why Pepe didn't start?
So glad that Özilis gone. He was hindering Arsenald offensive play
4-0
3/4:0!
@albgunn I would be shocked if Burnley do not win 1-0.
2-1.
2-0 ARSENAL
