Team News

Liverpool
Newcastle
  • Jurgen Klopp has no fresh injury concerns following the international break as they gear up for the welcome of Newcastle.
  • Alisson, Nathaniel Clyne and Naby Keita all continue to miss out, however.
  • Klopp could be tempted to name the same XI that started the win over Burnley at Turf Moor.
  • Newcastle's injury list is easing, but Steve Bruce is without no fewer than eight players.
  • Dwight Gayle and DeAndre Yedlin are the closest to returning for the Magpies, but the trip to Anfield comes too soon for the pair.
  • Bruce would've liked to have named the same XI that started the 1-1 draw with Watford, but with Sean Longstaff out, Jonjo Shelvey should start against his former side.

Prediction

  • Liverpool breezed past Burnley prior to the international break and remain the only side to win their opening four matches of the Premier League season. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 40 home league games, so are clear favourites coming into this clash.
  • Newcastle's sole win, however, came on the road, as they beat Tottenham 1-0 in London on their last away match. That said, they have failed to win their last six visits to Merseyside, which includes a 4-0 thumping in this game last season.
  • Newcastle will set out to frustrate Liverpool, and while it may take time for the Reds to pry them open, the hosts should come away with a fifth win from five league games this term.
