Mourinho, welcome back to the league, you bloody park-the-bus genius.
It just wasn't City's day!
The problem with City is that they never replaced Kompany in the summer.He was a great leader.Now they have shocking central defenders.
It seems neither Pep or the players want to win the league anymore. Congrats Liverpool, well deserve team.
@conan Nor does it seem like Josep Fraudiola is interested in reaching a Champions League semi-final.
"Defensive anti-football" 2-0 "Beautiful attacking football"
@SeuneMilmas, guess we'll gloss over the beautiful sterling tackle and the cynical yet beautiful zinchenko body check??
@SeuneMilmas Football is all about winning games rather than playing 'beautful football' and losing.
@nexus747 Tell that to Leeds, Barca and Citeh fans.
There is obviously something wrong in the City dressing room.Maybe the players do not like Pep anymore.
@nexus747 Regression towards the mean.
@SeuneMilmas Sir Alex would beg to differ. ;)
So that went well... Not that I'm crying myself to sleep over it, but wtf is going on at City?
@Motorbreath City has no real chance of winning EPL and pretty much locked top 4, so probably hard to get motivated. But wouldn't read too much into this game. Spurs just parked the bus and City had bad luck. 3-18 shots and those 3 only after City got red card is pretty telling.
@Motorbreath They have a squad of great individual players, but they lack a coach that is competent enough to reach at least 1 Champions League final with the most expensive squad in footballing history.
@SeuneMilmas I don't buy that explanation. Obviously you don't like Pep, but that doesn't take away the fact that he's one of the most decorated active managers in the world.
So I think that this result means Liverpool can win the league at the Etihad...?
@MEHJones They could already win it at the Etihad, this result means they can win it even sooner than that
@Nico1 Thanks!
32.6% possession, 2 goals scored and a clean sheet - Mourinho tactical masterclass.
Liverpool, you're welcome.
Bergwijn looks a good signing. Guillem Balague said Pep wants to try Italy next season and that he has always followed Juventus since he was a kid. He has already turned down Barca a few weeks ago to go back there.
@nexus747 I don't see Juventus firing Sarri any time soon. They'd probably have to end up half-way down the table by Christmas for that to happen. But this season, no way.
@nexus747 It would be great to see if the Bald Fraud could win a Champions League title with a Serie A team. Anyone can recall who the last manager to have achieved such a feat was?
@SeuneMilmas Yep, he is being interviewed on Sky right now. ;)
A big congrats to Bergwijn (and Spurs). Congrats to Liverpool too. They can't loose 1st place.
@Fromhell Actually they can. All they have to do is lose 8 games and Man City win all their remaining ones. :D
@Fromhell It's hardly surprising that Spurs won by such a comfortable margin, considering the fact that they have the better manager.
@SeuneMilmas yes because Mourinho's plan was obviously to let City completely dominate the game, miss a pen, hit the post twice, get a man sent off and then ultimately concede with the only 2 shots on target against them. Lets not pretend this was a Spurs or Mourinho masterclass. Spurs very lucky that it just wasn't City's day.
@Jonnyh140109 Mourinho masterclass. One of the few managers in the world who understand that dominance over the ball is no dominance at all. It's not bad luck that Bielsa and Fraudiola's sides have constantly failed to convert goalscoring chances. Poor conversion rates are intrinsic to their footballing philosophy
City 22 points behind Liverpool :) Pep will resign in the next few weeks and Poch will take over.
Mourinho best coach ever. Ć
@Patrikovic More major trophies won than Fraudiola and Bielsa combined.
I start to feel sorry for City now. They should do much better than this. Every game is a struggle now ...
@neumi17 With the insane amount of tactical fouls they get away with. This is exactly what they deserve.
@MathCatsFootball Every team tactical fouls. City just very good at it.
How bad is Ederson today, guy couldnt even CATCH a Taxi now =D
@stefanm Neither of the goals was his fault. His view was blocked for the first and the second won was a deflection.
@Motorbreath bla bla bla
Oh yes Sonny putting a little salt over it today , bravo Spurs !! :D
Yes City losing , oh yessssss!!!! Bravo Mourinho!!!
What a goal on his debut.
Nice way to mark your debut, Bergwijn.
City getting punished for tactical foul? Am I dreaming or something
2 dives and a studs up challenge on Alli's ankle! How is Sterling still on the pitch??
@Nico1- Sterling is untouchable atm, on and off the field. The punditry on MotD will be soft too.
@Nico1 because Livarpool
Insane refereeing...
VAR is drunk
How was that not a red for Sterling that's actually insane lol
@SandBurn because it was a yellow, and never a red worthy challenge. Sterling was a split second late. No intent there.
that was clear red card for Sterling, cant believe VAR did nothing about it .
Tottenham battled but we're lucky to get a draw at City earlier in the season. A lot has happened since then. City seem to have lost belief in recent week but their XG is still high and Tottenham are still not clicking. It will be interesting to see how Lo Celso plays now that he's fully signed and how Bergwijn does on his debut. Lamela and Aguero to score. Tottenham 1-2 City
@MEHJones What's the point of XG?
@SeuneMilmas It's representation of both chance number and chance quality (based on a large sample of past data related to shot distance, shot location, type of shot, and number of players between the shot and goal). XG is therefore much more informative than simply comparing number of shots on or off target (because number of shots doesn't take into account whether they were dangerous shots inside the box or speculative shots from outside the box that had little chance of going in). People love the possession stat but it's a poor predictor of result or end of season league position. By contrast, XG over 6 to 12 matches is pretty good. Last year XG suggested that Ole's good start was related to over performing XG and it turned out to be correct - regression to the mean.
@MEHJones What's XG accuracy in predicting results?
@SeuneMilmas For individual matches it's not perfect but then what is? Personally I think it's useful for estimating the chances of a team scoring when they haven't scored for a while. e.g. if a team hasn't scored for three games and their total XG for those matches is 0.6 then it's likely that they just aren't very good at creating chances, by contrast if their XG for those matches is more than 3.5 it suggests that they are making chances but have just been unlucky and a goal is on it's way soon.
both team will be ok with a draw
@MARIAN85 I would be shocked if Spurs didn't win 4-1. Man City are sorely lacking a manager that is capable of bringing success to the club.
@SeuneMilmas are u always drunk?
@SeuneMilmas go take ur meds, u r spewing nonsense.
@MathCatsFootball It's hardly surprising that Spurs won by such a comfortable margin, considering the fact that they have the better manager.
@SeuneMilmas guys a massive troll ! and doesn't understand football.
@Jonnyh140109 All serious students of football are cognisant of the reality that teams that do not dominate ball possession have a higher chance of winning.
@SeuneMilmas Love your trolling. ;)
0-3
Player prediction for man of the match has an old list. Eriksson is still on it och Bergwijn is not. I predict that the latter will score on his debut.
@JohnBenjamin love your work!
@MEHJones I've seen this guy a couple of seasons in the Dutch liga and am glad that he made the move to the big boys. He is a potential ballon d'or winner; mark my words. His work-ethic is the key. Lot's of talent among the Dutch, but the mentality is often lacking and that's crucial for the final push.
@JohnBenjamin Yeah I agree. I'm excited by his ability and potential but he needs to work hard too.
Agüero to start the game. Best prediction
A big congrats to all Tottenham fans; The club didn't buy Giroud!
0-3
Mourinho record versus Guardiola: W5 D6 L11 GF29 GA42. Record with Mourinho at home: W2 D3 L5 GF11 GA15. Not sure how it's relevant but somebody often posts their head-to-head record on games involving the two and this time it's me. Mourinho has consistently had the lesser team, it's important to state. I think Spurs will score but lose. I would hazard a guess that this will be the consensus.
@SteveHyland The reason why Mourinho has consistently had the lesser team is cos he's not as good a manager. It's not like he hasn't had the money to spend.
@Nico1- It's nowhere near that simple. Sure, a correlation between money spent and trophies won likely exists but you also need to look at the squad a manager inherited; how good their academy is; the actual amount spent on transfers taking into account inflation; the specific players available to sign at a particular time etc. It would also be remiss of me to fail to mention that Mourinho won the Champions League with Porto and Inter but Pep didn't with Bayern.
@SteveHyland all these petty excuses for rubbish argument is just tiring... The squad Mourinho inherited is better than the Liverpool klopp inherited... But you can easily compare klopp to pep now... Cos of head to head.. head to head is all that matter.. #drop mic!
@SteveHyland but pep won the league back to back in 3 different countries, which no one has done also
@temitopetko- Yes, Pep is a great manager, I never said anything to the contrary or even Mourinho > Guardiola.
@temitopetko Bald Fraud exposed, predictably.
@SteveHyland and you consider all these things before you accept the job you know... Mou has no excuse, that's no excuse
@temitopetko- No manager with any ambition turns down Real Madrid or Man Utd even taking into account the fact that there is at least one clearly better team in the league.
@SteveHyland a worthy post as always
@MEHJones- Thanks a lot!
