As an Arsenal fan commenting, some interesting stats you can see in the chalkboard: * Only 3 efforts from open play to 8 Chelsea * 16 of 31 tackles attempted were successful. AMN with 6 out of 8. Torreira was 0 out of 4 (that was a surprise) * 12 interceptions but only 2 in Chelsea's half (Chelsea managed 8 in Arsenal's half) * 93 passes into Chelsea's final third compared to Chelsea making 175 into Arsenal's final third * Both teams attempted 21 dribbles. But Arsenal only successful with 10 compared to 15 for Chelsea. Nelson completed 1 of 6 attempts, often appearing to get caught down blind alleys. * Laca lost possession 6 times, the most of any player. He also failed to register a shot. Jorginho made a telling difference when coming on (aside from the issue of the 2nd yellow). He made 6 interceptions, the most of anyone in the match and provided the discipline and structure to change the game around. Credit to Lampard for making that change before half time.
Hahahahahahahahahahaa Arteta 'THE COACH' !! Hahahaha :D Cant wait to watch AFTV tonight and probably after they lose to United soon :D
We were fantastic on the first half. Pressed intensely, found space, transitioned quickly and looked solid defensively despite holding a high defensive line. After Chelsea switched formation in the 2nd half, they were the better team. I'm not going to get on Leno's case when he has been our best player this season and spared our blushes on numerous occasions but I will get on Craig Pawson's. I'm not sure why he didn't give Jorginho a 2nd yellow when cynical fouls are a booking as standard. I don't expect referees to be perfect but this was an easy decision. A draw would have been the fair result but we defended like we have been all season to allow the winner. Hopefully Chambers' scan reveals his injury to not be as bad as I think it is.
Arsenal conceded 7 goals more than Bournemouth. I sure there are better defenders on the market. If you can call Mustafi Sokratis and Luiz defenders....
Why does Pepe not get more playing time ?
@neumi17 A few times that I've watched them play, he's been worse than Ozil. Maybe he needs time to adjust to the league or something but as of yet I think he's been a massive flop for them given his price tag.
1-0 up and they Arsed it up?
And Craig Pawson should be demoted to Scilly Islands Sunday League.
Sorry for jinxing it below. But this jammy Chelsea team are not good enough for top 4. Jorginho should have been sent off, and he wouldn't have been on the field to score. That changed the match situation, and Arsenal had to attack more rather than defend a lead, allowing Chelsea to smash us on the counter. Man U will finish 4th, Chelsea 6th.
@What4 Salty much?
@splint3r I'm just stating FACTS.
@What4 Erm, no, you are being bitter.
@What4 4th and 5th respectively, Spurs will be 6th
Arsenal's defense in 2nd goal was really poor, David Luiz is so slow and Mustafi just got stuck front Tammy , didn't try to mark him even.
Arteta does not have a clue tactically,same old Arsenal.
@nexus747 copying Guardiola too much.
Guardiol-like tactics is past. Great to see that.
mop on Guendouzi head distracted Leno.
Same old Chelsea, always cheating.
@What4 Now say that without crying.
@What4 Hahahhahahahahahahahahaahha
Really poor refereeing, if it was a yellow for Torreira, it was a yellow (again) for Jorginho.
Lampard bringing on Lamptey so he has some excuses when they lose.
@What4 Arsenal better not lose now.
Chelsea cannot afford to lose.
Sniper in the box Auba.
Arsenal is not gonna lose sure, Chelsea is like Spurs,United a jojo!
@Menzi Arsenal are as steady and sturdy as a paper lantern. This could end either way.
@Fromhell Exactly. This could go any way...total 50-50. Might be a good match.
OVER 2.5 Goals
@nexus747 Booom easy win :)
Will prefer mavropanos & chambers to start with Luiz on the bench
Arsenal DC
why no Pulisic as starter?
I'll be satisfied with a draw.
I would be wary of making too many changes. 48 hours is long enough to recover from a game providing the players haven't been overworked at training. There will also be 48 hours minimum between this and the Man Utd game, after which we can rest our first XI for 11 days by playing a youth/reserves/fringe team in the FA Cup against Leeds. Özil likely won't be able to play this AND the Man Utd game and, of course, niggly injuries should be managed as to prevent them from turning into major problems but Chambers for Sokratis would be the only change I would make for this match from the XI who started against Bournemouth. I would have made that irrespective of Sokratis' injury.
What channel is this match on in the UK? for sky viewers
@oc2k19- Sky Sports PL.
"Chelsea haven't kept a clean sheet in each of their last nine matches in all competitions." They kept one against Tottenham 2 matches ago.
@uefalona Match doesn't count because Tottenham are ****
@Ferguson - Doesn't matter if they'd done it against the bottom team of Conference South in the Mickey Mouse Cup. They did keep a clean sheet in a competitive match, despite stated otherwise.
I don't expect Hudson Odoi to start; he played so poorly v Soton, as has been the case for him most of the season. Pulisic or at least Mount will start ahead of CHO.
Chelsea just making things difficult for themselves. How do you beat Tottenham and then totally forget how to play against Southampton?!!? However I expect another reaction From Chelsea. Arsenal will probably be desperate to win too but Chelsea may just edge them out. 1-2
yep should be cracker, but home win likely 2-1 3-2.
2-0 Pepe
0-1
@stefanm clearly makes a lot of sense to predict matches so early
@tboyjojo and as u realized i was correct that chelsea will win it
@tboyjojo its not like u are going to forbid me
@tboyjojo why not
