- Gary Holt named a fairly defensive eleven as Livi held Hibs to a 1-1 draw at Easter Road in their last league match. Ciaron Brown, Jon Guthrie and former Hibee Efe Ambrose started as the three centre backs.
- Jack McMillan and goalscorer Aaron Taylor-Sinclair were the Lions' wing-backs and a decent defensive display was confirmed with Robby McCrorie's penalty save from Hibs midfielder Scott Allan.
- Steven Lawless supported Lyndon Dykes in attack and despite the Aussie not netting against Rangers or Hibs, his goal sealed the deal the last time these two sides met in West Lothian as Livi grabbed their first ever victory over Celtic.
- Celtic resorted to a 3-5-2 as they got over their continental catastrophe against Copenhagen. Jozo Simunovic, who had a tough time against the Danish side, was given a rest at centre back with defensive midfielder Nir Bitton taking his spot.
- Olivier Ntcham was also given the afternoon off in Perth as the Scottish Cup holders secured their spot in the last four. And it was the Frenchman's replacement, Ryan Christie, who netted a late winner against Saints at McDiarmid Park.
- Christie was sent off in this very fixture earlier on in the season whilst the attacking threat lies with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard. The Hoops are looking to not draw another blank in this fixture and regather some momentum in domestic competition.
