Team News
Bayern
Schalke
- Caretaker Hansi Flick will lead the side until the summer after taking over from sacked Niko Kovac.
- Alvaro Odriozola has joined on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season and could make the bench.
- Nicolas Kühn has also arrived on loan from Ajax but will bolster the reserve team at this stage.
- Joshua Kimmich is available after suspension after sitting out last weekend's easy win in the capital.
- Serge Gnabry is unlikely to be risked from the start with bigger games ahead, while Robert Lewandowski has made a rapid recovery from a hernia op.
- Kingsley Coman has recovered from the flu and returned to light training but will still need a few more weeks for his comeback from a knee injury.
- Lucas Hernández has also taken his first steps in training but will not be rushed back.
- Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso have both recovered from muscle injuries, but Javi Martínez is unavailable with a similar ailment.
- Teenage striker Jann-Fiete Arp has recovered from an arm injury.
- Niklas Süle suffered an ACL tear in the autumn and has probably played his last club game this season.
- Expect coach David Wagner to retain faith with the bulk of the side that saw off Gladbach with relative ease last Friday.
- Austria international forward Michael Gregoritsch has joined on loan from Augsburg and crowned his debut with a goal and an assist.
- Armine Harit missed last week with a thigh injury but could return.
- Central defender Jean-Clair Todibo has also arrived from Barcelona B until the end of the season but may have to wait for a debut.
- Youngster Markus Schubert will continue in goal as Alexander Nübel serves the final game of a four-match ban.
- Much to everyone at Schalke's distaste, Nübel has decided not to extend his contract and will join today's opponents on a free transfer at the end of the season.
- Weston McKennie is not yet ready following a shoulder op.
- Guido Burgstaller is fit, but has been ineffective in front of goal this season.
- Defenders Benjamin Stambouli and Salif Sané are both continuing their recovery.
Very strong Bayern team. GJ Flick. Favorites along with LFC for CL imo.
@benj It won't be a La Liga team this time.
Second error from Schubert.
Müller and Goretzka the worst, as usual xD
@BeautifulLoser what
@wilde Just pulling @neumi17 's leg.
@BeautifulLoser ah, ok :)
@wilde That was for me
Davies is insanely good
Just when I wanted to write-- Perisic to assist, Lewa to score it happens.
3-1
@nexus747 I'll be shocked if Bayern didn't win 4-1
@SeuneMilmas you make me wish for an ability to block users on whoscored
@wilde Why?
@SeuneMilmas because of your totally random predictions and this "I'll be shocked" routine. Nothing personal tbh
@wilde What's random about Bayern winning 4-1? You had your money on a predictable Schalke win?
@SeuneMilmas i don't mean this prediction in particular, but most of the others. And what's with the "shocked" routine?
