Team News

Borussia Dortmund
PSG
  • Marco Reus is ruled out for Borussia Dortmund, which means January arrival Erling Haaland will continue to start in attack.
  • Julian Brandt is also expected to miss out for the home side with an ankle injury, while Thomas Delaney is a doubt.
  • Neymar has missed Paris Saint-Germain's last four matches but is expected to return for the away side on Tuesday night.
  • Thiago Silva was hauled off at half-time in Sunday's 4-4 draw with Amiens and suddenly his place in the team is in serious doubt.
  • Marquinhos tends to play in midfield in these types of games but Thomas Tuchel could play him at the back in favour of Silva in midweek. Idrissa Gueye will drop to the bench if Marquinho is selected in midfield.
  • Pablo Sarabia and Mauro Icardi are in competition for a starting spot up front.

Prediction

  • Borussia Dortmund bounced back from a two-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over Frankfurt on Friday night. All eyes will be on Jadon Sancho, who has played a direct hand in 26 goals in 20 league games this season.
  • Paris Saint-Germain drew 4-4 with Amiens at the weekend, albeit with a heavily rotated side. The French side have crashed out at this stage of the competition in each of the last three seasons, which simply isn't good enough for a club with their level of investment.
  • Dortmund's last eight matches have averaged 5.5 goals per game, while PSG's last five have averaged 5.8 goals per game. The attacking talent at the disposal of both teams is frightening and all leads to what should be a breathtaking match.

  • As usual, the team with inferior possession (47% at home) won. The less Guardiola-like a team, the likelier they are to win.

  • @SeuneMilmas Bayern Munich has the highest possession in Europe and wins almost every game.

  • @neumi17 Once you control for player quality, the supposed positive effect of possession disappears.

  • @SeuneMilmas SeuneMilmas lol yes because against a team with equal quality you don't need to be good with the ball because they want to play football as well. But if you can't find solutions against worse teams that give you the ball you are fucked. Look at Leverkusen with Roger Schmidt, they nearly won in Nou Camp and lost against Atleti only in Penalties but then on the weekend couldn't beat a trash mid-table team at home.

  • I said it and I repeat: Neymar is such an annoying player with his dives. Whenever the guy is fouled he needs to roll 2 or 3 times to make a drama to the referee, like "they are hunting me, dad!". Every dribbler is fouled more often than other players, because that's the defenders' way to stop them, but Neymar always takes the fouls personal, as if he's an untouchable player. He'll never grow up.

  • Guys, stop only watching highlitghts and pay attention to the game... neymar was the only one in PSG trying something (maybe alongside Verrati), Mbappe had one good run and that’s it (and got lucky with the defender falling in front of him ), it was a good game from Neymar, definitely Haaland was MOTM but they Neymar was the second best. PSG defense and transition to attack is a joke, they just let Neymar do everything by himself

  • Erling Haaland is a future Ballon d'Or winner.

  • @splint3r If he had a proper ball control...

  • @neumi17 He does.

  • Great win for Dortmund + both Verrati and Meunier are suspended for the return match.

  • I love how Dortmund managed to sell Dembele to Barca for 125M then buys this guy for 20M. Why can't other clubs be that smart?

  • @tkr now barca want to sell Dembele for 20 M and Dortmond can sell Haaland for (125×2) M. It's logarithmic .

  • Mbappé passing Neymar who scores = 350M € goal

  • @Fromhell- It's actually €402m (Neymar €222m, Mbappe €145m, Mbappe €35m loan fee).

  • second half will be on fire

  • Is Neymar being serious? Someone should tell him this isn't the French league.

  • 0-0 . Neither team want to score

  • @footballover Dortmund with 7 shots in the first half

  • Let me try to understand this... At half-time: Dortmund 6.45 PSG 6.61? Are you on drugs or what?

  • Haaland plays like a 10 year old boy...Good bYe BTTS+2.5 over

  • @Badtips He is very good in front of the goal but not with the ball. Everybody knows that ...

  • @neumi17 He is also very good at the side of the goal one meter from the ground line with an almost impossible angle. Just look at the fifth goal against Cologne. Methinks he's not that bad with the ball.

  • @neumi17- His control is particularly poor. Like a typical English #9 of the 80s.

  • @SteveHyland Take a closer look at his first touch on the second goal.

  • Dortmund soo much better, crazy ...

  • I have this as a high scoring draw or narrow win for either side: 2-2, 3-2, 2-3, 3-3.

  • Anybody thinks this will be a low scoring game? Less then 1.5 ??? Sometimes these idiots cannot handle the pressure so the offensive players either miss even the enormous chances, or they play a waiting game instead of attacking like they should. In any case, Keylor Navas has been awful in PSGs last 3 games: he received 7 goals in PSG's last 3 games!

  • Gueye is a very important player, he will be in the first 11 for sure

  • Both sides have deadly attacks and slightly questionable defences, so over 2.5 goals looks likely.

  • Dortmund will beat PSG something like : 4-0 , 5-0 > Will humiliate them. They are not a team , they are just a bunch of stars playing with the French League teams....and even there they concede a lot of goals... They are not prepared for Dortmund.

  • @aboutbetting The way Werder Bremen and Leverkusen weren't prepared for Dortmund? No chance in hell for 4-0/5-0 with the way Dortmund have been playing defensively/turning the ball over/in transition.

  • red for Dortmund and hat-trick for Kylian (the best player in the world) Mbappé

  • @alxdru sure

  • @neumi17 Axel (blue eyes) Witsel applied for the red

  • 0-0 first half 0-2 second half PSG

  • 2-3

  • I think it will be a draw with both teams scoring but I really hope that Dortmund win.

  • @SteveHyland Dortmund love or PSG hate?

  • @Fromhell- PSG hate. The Qatari state rather than the club itself.

  • @SteveHyland Ouch. I can't say I agree, but I totally understand you.

  • @Fromhell Why not both

  • Paris-SG win Sarabia Mbappé Neymar +2

  • @bilboy I'am afraid PSG will get 4 or 5 goals in their net.

  • Home win

  • It will be difficult for Dortmund without Brandt and Reus. They gonna score though, it depends on how their defense keep up. Personally not a big fan of Neymar but I think it's gonna be his match

  • @jeepyler It's actually an advantage that Reus isn't playing. He was awful this season

  • 3-1, 4-2 Dortmund. Theywill score at least 3 goals ...

  • The Champions League is a holy grail that PSG have not been able to reach and they have been eliminated at the round of 16 in each of the last two years.

  • @nexus747 Your statement is kind of contradicing to the prediction ( 2-2 ) you made .

  • @neumi17 I made the statement to say PSG are not as good as people think. Both are not great at the back.

  • @nexus747 Ok, true

  • 2-2

  • First half under 1.5, but tricky game for sure

  • This game feels like a lottery, but I believe PSG has the edge. Also, the team that plays away in the first meeting are often the ones that go through.

  • With Akanji and Piszczek BVB cant win 2:5

  • agree 2-2 very possible

  • So for you guys Dortmund is favorite ? I think 2-2 and it will be a good result for Psg

  • Expecting a low scoring game, 0-1 or 0-2 FT. Dortmund wont attack like they usually do, will play more carefull and that is something that they dont know how to do . Its either 8 or 80

  • @andrewmols I expect Dortmund to attack until the end and don't stop scoring goals

  • I hope Julian Brandt makes it back this first leg is crucial!

  • @Futbol101 He won`t

  • OVER 2.5

  • Both teams very unbalanced and inconsistent. Haaland vs Mbappe will also be fun to watch. Betting here is a bad idea. 3-2

  • Time for the overrated PSG to fail again in the CL. 4-2.

  • Borussia win maybe.

  • 3-2 for Borussia

  • BTTS

  • 2-1

  • @lucca87 you got both games tonight congrats

  • 2-1 SANCHO
