Liverpool still played great I think. Atletico are not 'loosers' and you need to be in a really good form to beat them. Liverpool is having now 'low' in their standards
@benj Look at my observations below: if you can deliver a quick, one touch passing game which mixes up shots from a distance with shots from a close range, you beat Atletico. If you don't, they will hand your ass to you. That's why Simeone plays this strategy against everyone. Currently the rejuvenated Chelsea (with Man of the Match Billy Gilmour at the age of 18 in the last Chelsea game!!!) plays this style and thus would have a great chance against Atletico Madrid!
@SeuneMilmas Parking the bus and banking on nothing but counters and set pieces IS as boring as it gets. They only care about squeezing a win and ignore when everyone's eyes glaze over and no one enjoys it. They deserve the scorn. This was a bad day for football.
@berkulusoy5 I doubt teams like Leipzig, Atalanta, PSG or even Man City if they go through will have easy life against Atletico. And in case with the first two from this list they gonna be favourites.
Predictable, dull English style football based on crosses had to give way to world class defense. Such a defense can only be beaten by unpredictable, creative one touch football that mixes up one touch, quick passing game with exploiting shooting opportunities both from a distance and close range. This pairing was a mismatch from the very beginning as Liverpool is playing a dull, boring style of football, which can be easily defended. Liverpool is trying to wear down its opponents by dictating the tempo and constantly bombarding them with crosses, hoping that they would make a mistake. When they run into a world class defense this strategy is useless.
@neumi17 No it was the goalkeepers. If Oblak or Alisson was in goal for Liverpool tonight there's no way the 1st 2 goals go in, and maybe the 3rd as well as Adrians positioning was not great.
@GioMonaldo The fact remains that they failed to score as a result of Atleti actively giving the ball to Liverpool. It's disingenuous to pretend that this defeat is entirely the fault of one player.
@SeuneMilmas I didn't say it's the fault of one player, I'm only implying that Alisson would've had a more positive impact than Adrian. What you said is patently false, Liverpool players didn't score bc the ball doesn't always go in and Oblak was on fire.
great game. 2 different tactics. But Allisson absence showed us something hidden, since longtime which is ............. May be for exemple Liverpool are easily beatable. what are your opinions guys?
@sampo Atletico were just too lucky not to concede 2nd in the 2nd half, they simply didn`t exist and the defence was primitive as hell - kick the ball as far as possible from the own goal. From the other side, Adrian can not be the scapegoat, his error was not giving the ball away to the empty goal or conceding the easy shot, there were still Liverpool defenders there (Trent for example), who should have done something to correct their goalie error. Allisson is good - but he is not the key to the Liverpool victories in my opinion.
@tar88s It was only two years ago that "kick the ball as far as possible" won France the World Cup. If anything, it's the followers of dinosaurs Cruyff and Sacchi that are primitive and increasingly obsolete
.
@sampo Liverpool was too mechanic, but had to qualify even without Allisson, Atletico wanted this much more, i have the feeling this UCL only a bonus for Pool among PL
@KlaasJanHuntelaar he was the best goalkeeper for quite a while now along with Ter Stegen. EPL fanboys were first drumming up that De Gea was the best gk in the world (after his gaffes in world cup and than EPL two years in a row they finally shut up about him), than Alisson (to be fair he is quite good still dislike him for being a blind supporter of fascist homophobe like Jairo Bolsanaro ) along with Ederson (for a very brief period EPL fanboys thought he was the best gk when Alisson was still playing for As Roma).
@GioMonaldo accidentally reported you bro meant to reply,but i agree english clubs need to get knocked semis should be barca psg real vs bayern would be cool
@SeuneMilmas well it was opposite for RB Leipzig against Tottenham. Maybe Bayern Munich against Chelsea. In both of those matches the winning team had more possession.
Adrian has put a bet on the expense of his team, that's the only explanation, I mean just look at him in the second goal, he deliberately slowered his movement towards the ball.
Hope Liverpool finally go through,I'm not plenty of confidence, fistly for the park bus from Aleti and second because maybe players are paying off a busy season.
Faith has no place in betting Dude! Liverpool gave no signs of revamping its playing style against Bournemouth with a consequent struggle to win. Atletico is surely no Bournemouth, so Liverpool is a dream opponent to them: Atletico Madrid loves the unimaginative British football style Liverpool plays and can kick out the crosses of Robertson and Arnold 24/7. Firmino is like a ghost especially in Anfield: he did not score in the past 8 games at home. Verdict: low scoring game with at most 1 goal!
With Adrian in goal I am sure Liverpool will be more focused not to allow any counters and with that midfield they surely will create like 20-23 chances during 90 minuted. If that will be enough to score 2 or 3 goals is matter of debate, but on the other hand Atletico is not that invincible defensively like it was in previous seasons as they lost core of the team. 2-0 if most probable result, agree, (however 1-0 FT also applies or 3-0) also over corners should be fine here. Anyway Liverpool to advance is banker.
No doubt Atletico will park the bus... However I expect Klopp's men to be relentless. With the likes of Mane, Salah and creative fullbacks as well as midfielders who can score... and given Liverpool's habit of winning under pressure (ie last year 4-0) as well as the fact that they have their fans behind them at Anfield... Liverpool can win this game 3-1 and go through.
@tboyjojo well... What can I say... Atletico are the king of shit-housing their way to victory... I should've known better XD.
Liverpool's season is suddenly very sour
@Syriacus22 Why do you think Atletico will surely score? They suck at scoring. Only goal in the first leg at home was when the ball bounced off Fabinho's leg and rolled in front of Saul. They got 31 goals in 27 matches in their league.. LFC almost twice as much.
This will be 2-1/3-1, if it’s the latter, I expect Liverpool to score late on, they have scored so many late goals this season and this would be no different. With Morata with a small injury Simeone should play Costa. Not only for that, but this type of game in a high pressure environment you need someone who is prepared to go to war. Costa will also disturb the Liverpool players and could be hugely impactful.
Atletico Madrid are very poor away from home this season and Anfield is the toughest away ground in the world. However with the 1st leg advantage, expect a close tie. Probably will be decided by 1 goal.
@Nico1 Brilliant month. Out the FA cup, out of Europe and lost the chance to go undefeated in the League (which they did not come even close to deserving). Praise the football gods! :)
Fully expect Atletico to get an away goal here & they are excellent at defending so I personally cant see Liverpool scoring 3.
Perhaps whoever scores first could be vital in this game.
Hahahaahahaahha
I suggest selling Adrian
It's also a miracle at Anfield
LIverpool's goalkeeper is very stupid,include Alisson
i think that Liverpool is the lowest one in premier league
Llorente is an real madrid academy player
I don't understand - why Liverpool played without goalkeeper?
Liverpool still played great I think. Atletico are not 'loosers' and you need to be in a really good form to beat them. Liverpool is having now 'low' in their standards
@wladi83 What does it mean "really good form"? For the answer look at my notes below....
HA HA :)
Very disappointing for the neutral observer. Atletico play as boring as it gets and have no chance of going far anyway. Gongrats to Bayern i guess
@benj Liverpool play some boring football too, all they do is spam crosses ad nauseam, basically 'cross and pray'.
@benj Look at my observations below: if you can deliver a quick, one touch passing game which mixes up shots from a distance with shots from a close range, you beat Atletico. If you don't, they will hand your ass to you. That's why Simeone plays this strategy against everyone. @benj "Atletico play as boring as it gets and have no chance of going through at Anfield."
@SeuneMilmas Parking the bus and banking on nothing but counters and set pieces IS as boring as it gets. They only care about squeezing a win and ignore when everyone's eyes glaze over and no one enjoys it. They deserve the scorn. This was a bad day for football.
@benj Liverpool did exactly the same thing in the Champions League final. Boring bus parking also won France the World Cup.
@benj They just incapacitate the other team instead of creating anything interesting on their own. Anti-football really sounds fitting.
@SeuneMilmas for sure they won't go further than this. Atletico will be eliminated the next round.
@berkulusoy5 I doubt teams like Leipzig, Atalanta, PSG or even Man City if they go through will have easy life against Atletico. And in case with the first two from this list they gonna be favourites.
@tar88s they=Atletico
@berkulusoy5 You'll be telling us how sure u are of them not being able to win in the final next.
Predictable, dull English style football based on crosses had to give way to world class defense. 2015 Pool 0-3 Real Madrid 2020 Pool 2-3 Atleti Madrid Anfield is Madrid's training camp.
Great day for all football fans finally Flopp has failed again! And what to say to Spanish Karius hahahah
Whoever thinks that Alvaro Morata is not a good player, doesn't understand football.
@splint3r Well, he plays football at professional level, so he has to be decent, at least. He's not worth anything near 60 million euros though.
@splint3r Whatever. He is a decent player but not one of the best in world.
how is llorente not motm? wtf whoscored
Llorente what a player _/\_
Well it looks like Liverpool got Istanbul-ed at Anfield ;)
Now we saw just how important Alisson is to Liverpool. The Goalkeepers made the difference in this match.
@GioMonaldo And the forwards ...6 shots = 3 goals vs 34 shots in total and only 2 goals ...
@neumi17 No it was the goalkeepers. If Oblak or Alisson was in goal for Liverpool tonight there's no way the 1st 2 goals go in, and maybe the 3rd as well as Adrians positioning was not great.
@GioMonaldo Why couldn't the "fab three" score at least 1 goal over 90 minutes?
@SeuneMilmas actually Firmino did score eventually so...
@SeuneMilmas it wasn't their night, they couldn't score against Barca either but they went on to win the CL.
Klopp to Simeone: come to Anfield and enjoy the atmosphere. Simeone: *takes it literally*
great game. 2 different tactics. But Allisson absence showed us something hidden, since longtime which is ............. May be for exemple Liverpool are easily beatable. what are your opinions guys?

@sampo Liverpool was too mechanic, but had to qualify even without Allisson, Atletico wanted this much more, i have the feeling this UCL only a bonus for Pool among PL
Karius and Adrian...compare these with Alisson....
@Pastore10 they're all world class
Oblak, the best in the world! MOTM for me
@KlaasJanHuntelaar he was the best goalkeeper for quite a while now along with Ter Stegen.
Tha last match of this UCL season was at least legendary.
@Pastore10 First of all, it will not be the last. Second, it wasn't legendary.
What a comeback!!! From 0-2 to 3-2 in 25 minutes.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Premier league doesn’t hold a candle to la liga
@Lechiffre10 In general, yes. But that doesn't change the fact that Atletico suck.
Divock Origi in the deep blue sea swims so wild and he swims so free
Klopp hasn't learned lesson with Karius. Reserve gk should have some level.
@koziol.mutant yeah but its hard to find a good goalkeeper who wants to be 2nd choice
@koziol.mutant Adrian is a good keeper, but he isn't big team material. Even as a back-up.
now sheiks from PSG or Man City will get Atletico and fee pass next round :(
@koziol.mutant City out thanks to Zidane masterclass, mark my words. La Liga teams unite!
@GioMonaldo You are disgrace for all barca fans in d world
@svetoslav Your tears are delicious!
@GioMonaldo accidentally reported you bro meant to reply,but i agree english clubs need to get knocked semis should be barca psg real vs bayern would be cool
@GioMonaldo Zidane is very good coach, but Real have very poor players right now in crucial positions.
@koziol.mutant I know but it pisses me off to see Spanish teams get eliminated so early.
@koziol.mutant City have the better players, but Real Madrid have a non-fraudulent manager
@SeuneMilmas fraud for what winning prem twice zidane is a proven fraud since VAR was introduced
@BEE10 Citeh had won league titles before Fraudiola, and they will continue to win league titles after the Bald Fraud 's departure.
Loserpool out welldone athleti time to troll t
If you waste so many chances you get kicked out well deserved. It is the oldest rule in the world ...
@neumi17 As expected, the team with less possession emerged victorious.
@Yman first goal was better, 3 teammates free and he passes to Atletico player
@Yman He stood no chance lol, that finish was excellent
@KlaasJanHuntelaar The shot was slow like a turtle
Fuck you Lovren, why Llorente is too much for you? Btw what does "Llorar" means in spanish?
@Patrikovic it means "to cry" or "crying"
@Patrikovic what Lovren? drink less or more :)
@koziol.mutant who else is to blame??!! Are you stupid?
Bye Bye Pool. Undeserved exit.
@Fromhell Not really, quite deserved
@neumi17 After 120 mins I agree. After 90 I did not.
so Liverpool must buy some good reserve gk, best from UK
@koziol.mutant Let's shout out his name... Jo....e Hart!!!!(joke)
Nooo, ... it's Lovrens fault!
Adrian.... When it comes down to it, he ofc makes a blunder.
Adrian helped Spanish teammates
Bobbyyyyyyyy!!!
Liverpool must buy real central striker, not playing Firmino there
@koziol.mutant Timing!
@koziol.mutant Don't Judge Too Quickly
@koziol.mutant lol, I motivated him, but still.
Atletico should make a statue for Oblak , not depending on the result
@EmileDM For what? What significant trophy has he ever won with them?
Atletico just doesn`t have a clue what to do with a ball. One of the most one sided matches in the CL knockout stages ever.
Does anybody see MT (Mi-temps) instead of HT when using the English language/default version of the site?
@SteveHyland even worse - I have swahili in the names of the days of a week in the English version.
@SteveHyland Vive le France!
@SteveHyland Yeah.
Just finished posting and the goal came haha now the match is unlocked, expecting for another goal from Reds.
Genie is a killer!
Hope Liverpool finally go through,I'm not plenty of confidence, fistly for the park bus from Aleti and second because maybe players are paying off a busy season.

@Zoltan This aged really well
Liverpool win turn
Simeone should be fired if Liverpool goes through.
Koke to score in the first half
i have unquestionable faith in mane to score here
Ath. Madrid won only 3 of their last 13 away games. 2-0
it is the greatest pleasure to see LiverPOOR to get knocked out from the UCL. scumbag Klopp out!
@ambrose WE HAVE HAVE TO DO IT
@ambrose NOT POSSIBLE MY DEAR
@ambrose kinda sad if your greatest pleasure is another team's failure instead of your own team's success.
@ambrose You are going to cry after this game bro. I feel bad for you.
@Fromhell Actually I think its you thats crying
@Fromhell Just can't see Klopp defeating the best manager in the world.
@SeuneMilmas Maybe if the best manager in the world has more ball possession.
@Fromhell All top coaches know that having less ball possession increases the chances of winning matches.
Last UCL match with attendance of the season for sure, but high chances last UCL match of the season too...
@Pastore10 it's only in the round of 16 dude
With Adrian in goal I am sure Liverpool will be more focused not to allow any counters and with that midfield they surely will create like 20-23 chances during 90 minuted. @tboyjojo milk*
@tboyjojo Aged like mill
Atletico Madrid have won only three of their 13 away league fixtures
This Liverpool side thrives on pressure and very strong at Anfield. ATM about to get hammered. 4-0
Atlético will qualify for next round, even Liverpool being a better team, they will struggle with Atlético's defense. Expecting BTTS
Btts for sure, Pool need 3 goals to qualify
@Syriacus22 Why do you think Atletico will surely score? They suck at scoring. Only goal in the first leg at home was when the ball bounced off Fabinho's leg and rolled in front of Saul. They got 31 goals in 27 matches in their league.. LFC almost twice as much.
@Syriacus22 Need or will need? How are you counting?
Last season Atletico blew a 2 goal lead against a team worse than Liverpool. Don't expect a different result here.
@GioMonaldo I would be shocked if the team with less possession didn't go through on away goals. This is obviously a 2-2 aggregate draw.
2-1 or 3-2.
Ye, this one got 1-1 written all over it.
@SlobbaN I really don’t see this being a draw... Liverpool will win, it’s a question of how many goals
@RMartin You are right. Its not a draw. But its a win for atletico
This is Anfield. There is no hope for ATM
@deadfin Aged well
Atletico will play very defensive with a 10 man defence and rely on the counter attack.
@nexus747- So like the last 466 games then?
@SteveHyland LOL ! To be fair they always had clinical strikers
@SteveHyland I would be shocked if Liverpool didn't win 2-1.
Atletico Madrid are very poor away from home this season and Anfield is the toughest away ground in the world. However with the 1st leg advantage, expect a close tie. Probably will be decided by 1 goal.

2-1/2, Atletico in 1/4 CL
Really bad time to have Adrian in for Alisson. Against Atletico you need concentration. Still think most likely is 2-0
Because Adrian is just a Spanish Karius
Huge blow for Klopp - confirmed today Alisson out for this game- muscle injury.
4-1
1-1
