Team News

Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern
  • Luka Jovic has already chipped in with vital goals as a substitute after returning to the club and may be required from the start here with star striker Andre Silva a doubt with a back injury. Missing the Silva vs Lewandowski head-to-head would take the shine of this fixture.
  • Djibril Sow is suspended so former Bayern midfielder Sebastian Rode could slot into midfield.
  • Ragnar Ache is still absent following a thigh injury picked up on international duty with the Germany U21 side in the Autumn.
  • 25 goals in 20 appearances, Robert Lewandowski keeps on racking up the Bundesliga scoring records as Bayern head towards an eighth-straight league title.
  • David Alaba has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season for pastures new. Real Madrid are his most likely destination.
  • Douglas Costa has a foot injury and is ruled out for several weeks.
  • Jérôme Boateng left Qatar to attend to a personal matter back in Germany, while Thomas Müller tested positive for COVID-19 over in Qatar. Benjamin Pavard is the latest Bayern star to test positive for COVID-19.
  • Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez both had COVID-19 and missed the trip to Qatar. Both could return to the squad here.
  • Bayern have announced a couple of summer signings to bolster defensive options. Dayot Upamecano will join from RB Leipzig, while Omar Richards will arrive on a free from Reading.
  • Back-up keeper Alexander Nübel has an ankle injury and is out for up to a month. Tanguy Nianzou is ruled out with a muscle injury.
  • Serge Gnabry picked up a thigh injury in the club WC Final. Jamal Musiala is a good option to have up your sleeve.

Prediction

  • Eintracht Frankfurt are in great form, winning eight of their last nine to fly up the table to third. Only a slow start to the season, sharing the spoils on nine occasions, has prevented a genuine title challenge.
  • Frankfurt have scored in all 21 games this season, except for the 5-0 defeat to Bayern. The Eagles have taken the lead in their last 14 games, smashing a club record from way back in 1971-72.
  • Frankfurt beat Bayern 5-1 last season in this equivalent fixture, spelling the end for Nico Kovac and the start of Herr Hansi Flick's reign. How things have changed for Bayern since then!
  • Despite looking vulnerable, FIFA Club World Cup champions Bayern are five points clear at the top of the table, helped by the best away record in the league with eight wins from 11 games.
  • Bayern have scored in 52 games in a row, last going goalless in February 2020 against RB Leipzig. 61 goals after 21 Bundesliga games is a new club record as well.
  • Bayern definitely underestimated lowly Bielefeld on Monday, the champions won't make the same mistake here against an excellent Eintracht side, but who could be missing the prolific André Silva.

  • How tf was Sane Man of the Match? Amin Younes was clearly the best player on the pitch. Fix your damn algorithm, Whoscored!

  • @vieri even benched Messi still got Man of the Match by Whoscored

  • Frankfurt in a reeeeally great form since weeks, if only they were like this since beginning, well done

  • Sane is trash recently.

  • @aaltoo player of the match today

  • @wilde it's because whoscored's stats and ratings are garbage. They say Sane was dispossessed only once. It's like they don't even watch the game. Sane was losing the ball every second possession.

  • @fervour21 well I don't disagree with you, I've just stated that he was MotM here

  • later people complaind i mean bayern fans when i said they are not even 30 % good of how they were in 2020.... in 2020 they were amazing i must admit but after thiago left....they are not 30 % of the team they were, thats my opinion based on the facts how they are playing not constant this season

  • @stefanm Losing Thiago was a blow, but the problem is defense, injuries, form (with some) and really poor new signings & loans. Thiago wouldn't have helped with that. By now, most are glad Alaba is leaving and no one nervous at the prospect of selling Süle or not renewing with Boateng.

  • @stefanm It's more due to fatigue, most of them don't feel really motivated to put in shift when they have literally won everything. CB pairing of Boateng and Alaba has been utter trash this season. Lucas is really good and not sure why he can't get the game time. It's ridiculous how Flick keep favoring Alaba/Boa when they have been garbage.

  • @falcon_ranger Exactly... And still more trophies than losses for Flick

  • @benj u cant question a coach who win it all last year.....

  • @benj not more but equal, 6losses 6trophies

  • looooooool

  • Congrats to Bayern.

  • 2-1, 2-2

  • Last time they played at Frankfurt was the 5:1 shellacking for which Kovac got sacked. Frankfurt also #1 in 2021, Bayern battered by injuries and might be already focusing on Lazio. At least there will be no snow in Frankfurt, which was the problem against Bielefeld.

  • Half of the team injured? Typical season for Bayern

  • Draw

  • Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals . Eintracht can definitely take at least a point with their current form

  • Injury crisis getting critical. Tolisso out for the season. Expecting Sane and Coman to stay fit with full shifts and no rest is a tall order.

  • I tip frankfurt win or draw

  • Frankfurt to cause Bayern trouble here. They won't lose it.
