Team News
Liverpool
Tottenham
- Joel Matip was forced off at the break with a back issue and will be assessed, though may not be risked for the welcome of Tottenham.
- Captain Jordan Henderson deputised at the back and could start here once move, though Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips are options for Jurgen Klopp.
- If Henderson does start in defence, then Takumi Minamino may feature from the off.
- Erik Lamela remains sidelined, while Jose Mourinho has also confirmed Japhet Tanganga is out for up to three weeks. Gareth Bale is a major doubt through illness, though would not have started anyway.
- Jose Mourinho could implement a change in setup in order to stifle Liverpool at Anfield. He may use a three-man defence, with Ben Davies and Joe Rodon potentially coming into the side, while Matt Doherty and Giovani Lo Celso are also in line to replace Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele.
A goal that took a very lucky deflection and a winner that shouldn’t have stood due to Dier being fouled in the corner. He got flattened but no one cares because it’s Liverpool. Disgusting football club.
@splint3r you should try specsavers
@splint3r bwahahahahahahahahagagagagaahahahahahahaahahahaha
@splint3r "Dier got flattened" LOL he got a nudge at most.
@splint3r Is this a joke !? Do u wanna talk about referee decisions? This year they give penalties for near 99.9 % in the penalty area for handball and there was a handball. No penalty. Even the MIGHTY var not even look the situation. Do you follow my thought? Second. Tottenham goal. Not one camera show the perfect view is there a offside or not. Not lines. Nothing.Liverpool beat Tottenham only 2;1 because of the poor shots. Tottenham Jose look a like a team from the bottom three. Possesion around 75 % 90 minutes with all the injuries Liverpool have. Now Josi can complain about u9 injuries if he want. No one cares.
@Barele If you're a Liverpool fan, you have absolutely no right to even mention VAR.
@splint3r Undoubtedly the most beautiful match so far in the premier league, with high intensity and more duels to win the ball. Why do you have to deal with unnecessary details?
@splint3r LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
One of the best feeling, maybe after Liverpool won premier league and ucl, is to beat this ridiculous Jose bus team. Only the poor shots make that this to be so hard win and not another five to null a few years back. Absolute masterpiece from Klopp.
What a surprise, a late game changer by Liverpool ...
Spurs created more chances in the final 3 minutes than in precedented 20. That's defensive tactics rightly punished. Still, they created better chances especially Bergwijn should be sent on loan to PSG to practice shooting precision.
Pretty entertaining match, I really liked it. Allison made a good saving at the end. And watching Keane standing in a deffensive position is weird, I mean he was taking Firmino in the 2nd goal , of course did it badly.
@dib Dier went down, so Kane insured
@dib *Kane
Haha......
24% possession, that must have been very boring to watch.
Maybe stop shooting straight at Lloris
Tott +1/2 cash it.
I think jose can win this if he parks the bus, play anti-football and tell his players to waste time
@Jaybird23 You're not funny.
Historically, Tottenham's record at Anfield is poor and although Liverpool have several injuries they still have plenty of experience and quality to be wary of. A defeat would not be a disaster for Tottenham but this fixture is a great opportunity for Tottenham to maintain some momentum and establish a genuine title challenge. Jose will be relishing it and no doubt have prepared a detailed game plan. Nevertheless, some of the Liverpool injuries *might* actually make them less predictable. To get a draw or even a win Tottenham need to avoid giving away silly penalties and free kicks in dangerous areas. It's also not the time for Kane and Son to ease up. As I mention below Tottenham look like they will start more cautiously than they did against City. Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham.
Liverpool will win with the benefit of they are home stadium...but tottenham might push harder to a draw
The teams have been announced and Jose is playing a different starting 11 than he did again Manchester City: Davies on the left rather than Reguilon, and Lo Celso in the centre instead of Dombele. This suggests to me that instead of going for the early goal and sitting back he might be aiming (hoping) to keep it tight for the first half and go for it late in the second half.
Son against a left side of Jones, TAA and Williams. I predict 3-0 Spurs
@Olegend20 lol
@Olegend20 same... when I see this 19y.o. and TTA as main things to stop Son... it means that Son will score for sure this match. wtf Klopp, put Wijnaldum as right back if you don't have anything else - cause TTA is not a defender.
@dzvinka - If he's not a defender, then why does he keep playing in the backline and not anywhere else?
I keep losing thousands betting Liverpool so I bet them again..
over 1,5 in first half
Bale back on the golf course :)
Bale is finding it tough so he says he is injured.
Draw or Tottenham win. Jose Mourinho to do another masterclass.
Klopp will overthink this again and Liverpool will lose on the counterattacks. The most Klopp could churn out with his stupid tactics is a 0-0, much like his Manchester City alterego, Pep Guardiola! Klopp has an attacking front that could play nice one touch passing game mixed up with shots from a distance and penetrating passes. But for that he would need to incorporate Minamino as an attacking midfielder. But no, instead he plays that stupid blue collard game with the wingers forcing the issue. Mourinho will be properly prepared for that. If there is one thing Mourinho knows is how to defend against a predictable offense!
@Zoltan Guardiola is one of the best managers this century and so is Mourinho. Never compare Flopp to either of those two again.
@Zoltan Maybe Guardiola and Mou are superior to Klopp tactically, but Klopp is a genius in dealing with his players and getting them to give 100%. He built the team around him, with smart business and recruitment policy (both for players and staff. He is more of a CEO than a coach honestly, and that is what is great about him.
2-1 Liverpool will win bcoz Mourinho will compact his players in their 6yard area. This is why he lost 2 points vs Cristal palace.
@sampo It's true that Tottenham were pushed back for much of the second half compared to the first but claiming that he "compact his players in the 6 yard area" isn't an accurate reflection of reality.
@sampo It sounds like you need to actually watch the Crystal Palace vs Tottenham match, or at least look at the touch and pass maps, rather than simply reading headlines on rubbish websites or parroting lazy internet pundits. Against Palace, Tottenham had 57% possession and 14 shots (6 on target) which away from home against a top half team is hardly an indication of "parking the bus". Tottenham made 185 passes in the final third vs 77 in the defensive third whereas Palace made 127 and 92 respectively. Tottenham also made 327 forward passes vs 177 backwards passes whereas Palace made 253 and 128. The only areas of red in their heat map is in the opposition half. How Tottenham played against Manchester City is another matter all together and some of the stats I mentioned reflect that.
@MEHJones i don't need pundits or websites bro. you like stats. Just tell me how many tackles and tackels attempted? how many clearences? how many blocks? who is MOTM? What about the POSSESSION? the answers: 26-34-30-12. (21-26%). almost record numbers of an orthodoxe defensive plan. SoTottenham were totaly compacted in their area as i expected. and i got it wright 2-1. BTY I am in someway a Spurs fan this year. My freind! it's no shame to say i read it very well. all my respect.
Liverpool shouldn't attach ballz deep that bus, just wait till they come out of their bus shell, and then hit 'em. If Liverpool will go to much forward - they might lose same as City.
btts
Mourinho to park a bus on the area and give a lesson to Klopp of defend in Anfield @1.10
easy win for tottenham 1-3
2-0 Liverpool win. Mourinho'd bus to crash this time
@tboyjojo what a painful way for the bus to crash at the last minute! XD
Liverpool to win and BTTS, 2-1 I'd say
What a game, seriously what a game it's gonna be!!!
2-1 VAR to save Liverpool. Mou will park the bus and try hitting Liverpool on the counter.
@Keymoney How VAR will save Liverpool, after all the controversial decisions this year are against them ?!
0-0
Over 2.5 goals
2-2
no way mou changes formation
RIP Gérard Houllier.
4-0 for LFC,Bale is ex footballer!
