Team News

Brighton
Tottenham
  • Graham Potter may be tempted to go with the same XI that started the 0-0 draw with Fulham when Brighton host Tottenham.
  • Jason Steele is a doubt for the hosts, while Tariq Lamptey, Danny Welbeck, Florin Andone, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Jose Izquierdo miss out.
  • Harry Kane has joined Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso on the sidelines, which is a blow for Tottenham.
  • Dele Alli is unlikely to play at the weekend as the January transfer deadline looms.
  • After playing a three-man defence against Liverpool, Jose Mourinho may revert to a 4-2-3-1, with Harry Winks starting alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield.
  • Serge Aurier supposedly shocked teammates after his half time withdrawal against Liverpool and he may be dropped here.

Prediction

  • Brighton were held to a 0-0 draw with Fulham on Wednesday night and it means they have lost just one of their last six in all competitions, that coming at Manchester City.
  • Tottenham fell to a first defeat in nine against Liverpool on Thursday night, succumbing to a 3-1 home loss. Spurs have a decent record against Brighton, winning four of the last five meetings, but lost 3-0 on their last visit to the AMEX.
  • That said, Mourinho will look for a response from his players on Sunday and despite the absence of Harry Kane and Sergio Reguilon, they should get back to winning ways at Brighton's expense.

  • Bottled

  • Gareth Bale didn't have a single shot, key pass or dribble in 61 minutes and touched the ball only 30 times.

  • Gareth flop

  • time to retire old man, Mou.

  • hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Accoding to BBC José has lost his last two matches at Brighton (with Manchester United).

  • Last season Tottenham lost 3-0 at Brighton and, for many people, it was beginning of the end for Poch. Even if Tottenham somehow do manage to snatch a point, this performance will not win José's doubters over.

  • What is going on ? Zero shots on goal for Tottenham in Brighton at half time ?

  • @neumi17 no Kane, no belief.

  • @MEHJones It's not just a mentality thing. That Son-Kane partnership did pretty much all of the productive work doing forward and now it's gone.

  • I hope this first 11 selection doesn't mean that Son is going to move to the center. It seems bizzare not to start with Vicinius in place of Kane. Brighton 1-1 Tottenham

  • @MEHJones I actually voted for 1-2.... against my better judgment

  • @MEHJones Please follow your good judgement in the future more often. :-)

  • @neumi17 it isn't over yet but if the score stays the same (which it might well do) I'll be wrong regardless

  • w2

  • 1-1
