Team News

Newcastle
West Ham
  • Allan Saint-Maximin effectively won the game for Newcastle off the bench against Burnley so Steve Bruce will be desperate to get him in the team from the start fitness permitting.
  • Callum Wilson made his comeback from injury from the bench last weekend in a big boost to Newcastle's hopes of beating the drop. He will also be considered for a start here.
  • Andy Carroll was fit enough for a place on the bench against Burnley but won't get the chance to face his former club from the start here.
  • Joe Willock may have to settle for a place on the bench here after Newcastle beat Burnley without needing him.
  • West Ham will have to make do without star striker Michail Antonio once again on Saturday, with Jarrod Bowen poised to lead once more.
  • David Moyes moved West Ham to a back three against Leicester but it remains to be seen whether he feels that is necessary against Newcastle.
  • Arthur Masuaku and Said Benrahma are in competition to start on the left wing for West Ham. Masuaku may actually be required at left-back if Aaron Cresswell fails to prove his fitness in time.

Prediction

  • Newcastle came from behind to beat Burnley last weekend and secure three huge points in the relegation battle in the process. Allan Saint-Maximin scored and assisted in the space of five second half minutes not long after coming off the bench to turn the game on its head.
  • After beating Leicester 3-2 last weekend, West Ham remarkably now have the chance to leapfrog the Foxes into third place with three points against Newcastle on Saturday. 3-0 seems a dangerous scoreline for West Ham at the moment. They went 3-0 up against Arsenal only to draw 3-3 and almost did the same thing against Leicester last weekend.
  • Newcastle are actually unbeaten in their last three matches against West Ham and welcome the Hammers with only one defeat in their last six league matches. Nevertheless, it's hard to look beyond an away victory for West Ham, particularly with Jesse Lingard in such incredible form. The Manchester United loanee has already equalled his best ever goalscoring season in a Premier League campaign in his first nine appearances for the Hammers (eight goals).
